One Down, One To Go.
Indeed, folks, I turned in my final project for ARS 431 today! Woo-Hoo! I finished it at about 9:30 last night, for better or for worse. Now I have to get busy studying for my final exam in history. If I weren't so tired, I'd do a happy dance! Go me!
WEEKEND UPDATE!
Friday night was a low key dinner with Anthony at Moe's. We had never been there before, but it was pretty good. It was one of those build-your-own-burritto places. I forgot to tell them to leave off the tomatoes (yuck) and so I spent most of my time digging them out before I would take bites. It was a tedious process! Afterwards we went to Books-A-Million and goofed around. Poor Josh was going to come with us that night but he called and said his tranmission had comitted suicide. He drives the Chick Magnet (Eclipse) and has had nothing but grief from the day he bought it. He told Steve that he was going to go with American cars from now on! Steve had to be the one to break it to him that most of his car was already made in America. Heeheheee.
Saturday morning I woke up feeling horrible. Apparently, I have become immune to my normal allergy meds. However, I had a full day already planned and I wasn't going to cancel anything! I was determined! So I medicated myself liberally and drove down to Cullman where I met Kenny and Lauren for lunch. It was the first time I had ever gotten to meet Lauren, and we had a great time. : ) We ate, made fun of mullets, teased Kenny about the lady who kept staring at him, and made food sculpture! We sat and talked for so long that the poor lady who waited on our table had to come and ask if we could please pay our check so that she could go home. Oops! I kind of hate that I was fuzzy on allergy medicine, because I'm usually much more fun than I was on Saturday. I"m beginning to think that drugging me a little before I meet someone for the first time may not be such a bad idea, for them. That way, they can get used to me before I behave normally. Anyways, (because I know she will read this eventually) SORRY ABOUT THAT! Kenny was charming, as usual. I gave him his graduation gifts, amid the reminders that I don't have to do that. I had to remind him that I'm going to do it regardless, so there!
We found out that Elvis is alive and living in Cullman. We ate at the table next to him! I also found out that Yankee Candles do indeed come from up north (I asked a real, live, yankee!) and I was able to say Massachusetts on the first try! All in all, it was a good afternoon. Oh! I almost forgot! During lunch I realized that I had been able to make it through a whole meal without once using my Pamplemousse Perez accent and I was so proud. I was in the car, just about the shut the door when I heard Kenny call to me across the parking lot. When I climbed out of Rudolph, I was then asked to do the voice! So much for being on my best behavior! ; )
By the time I actually did get on the road home, my medicine was messing with my head and I honestly don't remember large chunks of the ride back! I was in Huntsville in what seemed like 15 minutes, but I knew that couldn't have been the case because my CD had cycled all the way through and then some. Since I still had someplace to be that night, when I got home I just lay down and went to sleep for a while.
Saturday night (even though I didn't want to wake up after my nap) I went to the Coffee Tree again to hear my friend's band, but this time there was an added bonus: Mr. Harris, my very favorite teacher ever, father of Jason, and my former FFA advisor, was coming to hear Jason perform a song Mr. Harris had written! I was so excited. It had been a long time since I had gotten to talk to Mr. Harris and I had always liked him so much, I couldn't pass up an oppourtunity to see him again. I also got to meet most of his family that night. The song that Mr. Harris had written was about his recently deceased father, and everyone wanted to be there to hear it. For a little while I thought I must've met these people before. I did date Jason for 2 years or so. They all talked to me like they knew me, but when I asked later, it was confirmed that I had never met any of them. They were just really nice. : ) I also realized something about Jason's band that night. Every time I've been there to hear them, they play the song "Trashy Women", which is a country song I remember being popular when I was in high school. I realized, due to the fact Jason said so, that they play that song in my honor due to the lyrics: "You should've seen looks on the faces of my dad and mom, when I showed up at the door with my date for the senior prom." If you aren't familliar with the song, it goes on to say she was a cocktail waitress in a dolly parton wig and to extoll her desirable trashyness. I am not really sure if I am honored or not. I can say with conviction that I was NOT a cocktail waitress at the time of said Senior Prom! Whether or not I was trashy...well, I'll just have to hope not! : ) By the time I got home, I was exhausted.
Sunday I woke up dreading the fact that I had to sing that morning. I still wasn't feeling well and I was afraid my voice would go completely crazy while trying to sing. However, the minister of music forgot that he had asked me to sing and scheduled another lady to do it. I wasn't too disappointed! : ) After church, we went to my parent's house (Mr. Lee came along despite his own allergy problems) and had lunch. While looking for an old scrapbook of mine, I came across an old box full of junk, letters and cards from years ago. I had forgotten I had a band letter! I also found letters from an old friend of mine who was at Auburn for his first semester in college. You know, he used to get bored enough to write me without me having to send him a letter first! *ahem youknowwhoyouare!* ; ) After we dropped Mr. Lee off, we went home and I finished up my final project and Steve and I ended the day with two new episodes of Dr. Who!
Good Times, Noodle Salad.

Okay, just because so many people have both asked AND assumed they knew what I was talking about in another post I made (the one about being addicted to someone) let me clear this up. I am sorry if in that particular post I didn't specify.
That was a random thought. It didn't mean anyone or anything specific. I am not saying that I, Kelly, am in any way addicted to nor wonder if I could be addicted to another person. Is this clear to everyone? Good.
I've also wondered if you went back in time and payed Van Gogh to paint a picture, could you bring it back and sell it, an unknown painting by an otherwise well known artist, without anyone accusing you of fencing art that had been stolen by Nazis at some point. I also haven't done this.
Please don't take everything I write on here seriously, especially if it doesn't seem to make sense. Sometimes I'm just writing to stay awake or because I have weird thoughts.
That is all. : )

9:15 a.m.
A large piece of sticky vinyl just detached itself from something I was cutting out and slapped me in the face. It has stuck to my afore mentioned face and pulled my glasses off. I have carefully unstuck them from the vinyl and they are now safely on my desk. I can't see more than two feet in front of me.

So THAT'S how it's going to be today...
7:53 a.m.
Walking into the cafeteria is like wandering into the internal workings of an ant hill. Kid are freaking everywhere. This shouldn't surprise me, I do, afterall, work at a camp. After carefully picking my way through small, bewildered groups carrying precariously balanced trays loaded with french toast sticks and hash browns (we love our carbs here) I make it to the hot water tank and get my morning cup of water for tea. After once again weaving my way through the forest of children (and wondering if it would really be a bad thing to carry a Nerf bat with me to whack people out of my way), I climb the stairs to find that I'm the first if my office to arrive, and therefore will have to unlock the door. While searching for my keys, my cup of hot water crashes to the floor, drenching everything within a three foot radius. I was seriously unknowledgable about the fact that an 8 ounce cup of water would cover so much floor space. I rush up the stairs only to find that the only available paper towels are the brown rolls in the bathroom, and they have no absorptive powers at all. After running up and down the stairs several times, alternately holding wads of dry and sopping, brown paper towels, I realize that all I'm succeeding in doing is spreading the moisture to an even larger area. I search for and locate a broken folding chair, which I sit squarely in the middle of the spot in hopes that none of my immediate co-workers slip and break a leg in the mess. I finally make it to my office where I realize the heater is on, and therefore I must take off my shoes and sit very still in the stream of my fan so that I don't get ill from the opressive humidity which has already begin to accumulate within.
I hear a noise, I will write again soon.

FINALLY! An online quiz that got it right! It's amazing! How did they know! Heeheehee!
Your Celebrity Match is: Johnny Depp
That's what I'm talkin' about.

Another Hazard of my Job
I'm sure there's a good "blue hand" joke out there, but I've just inhaled a lot of spray paint and my brain isn't processing stuff as efficently as it should be, so I can't think of it!
I also managed to spray paint my wedding band, but with the help of currosive sticky-stuff remover, I got that cleaned off. I am not going to spary that on my hands, though.

Mamma Mia, Here we go again...
I have a new found fascination for the movie Mommie Dearest. I just recently finished reading the book for the second time and I was a little appalled that the movie was almost completely fiction. In reality (or at least according to the book) Joan Crawford was actually worse than she was portrayed by Faye Dunaway.
Of course, we all know that the movie was WAY over the top. Even that crazy heifer probably didn't walk around with that "I'm ready for my close-up now, Mr. Deville" look on her face all of the time. At any rate, for your viewing pleasure, I shall link to something called "Mommie Dearest Remix" or "ABBA vs. Mommie Dearest". If nothin else, it's pretty darned funny.
NO WIRE HANGERS, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend Update!
You'll have to excuse my day-lateness on my weekend update here, folks. I'm having trouble remembering exactly what I did. You know, I would imagine most people think I have some kind of severe chemical dependancy because of the way I forget stuff. However, I assure you that I am just forgetful! When I was in high school, I dated a guy for two years and couldn't ever think of his name. I ended up just calling him Punkins so as to not offend him. So be assured that this forgetting thing isn't a new thing for me. : )
FRIDAY
Friday evening Steve and I went to the home of a couple we go to church with. I stopped by Coldstone and bought another cake to take over there (this time it was the strawberry one: to DIE for) and we played a card game called Phase Ten. I realize that the game is not new, but I had never played it before. I'm not a big card player because I forget rules too quickly (see above paragraph) and can never remember what the symbols of the cards are. Luckily these cards just had big numbers on them, so I didn't get incredibly confused. Actually, I won the game! Go me *spirit fingers*! It was kind of late when we left, and I felt bad we had stayed so long, but we were having too much fun to leave!
Saturday was supposed to be a full day for me, but it went all haywire. Here was my plan: Get up, print the pictures of the Ordination service and print some lables, pack some books, run to Target and a couple of other places, visit a friend, go to a class reunion committee meeting, go home. I had it all very planned out and organized. Did it work that way? Not so much. I did get up...that part went as planned. As I sat down at my computer and started making prints of the pictures, I realized that for some reason the paper I was using wasn't working. It was as if the surface was cracking every time the ink would dry. So I tried some more things to make it work...only to make it worse. I still don't know what was going on, but I did find ONE sheet of photo paper that acted like it was supposed to. Printing lables on my Mac is impossible because no program I own has the software to do it. Not only that, but when I finally figured out how to format a spreadsheet to print the darned things, I found out that my PRINTER isn't formatted to print lables. I could have just spit! Steve and his dad were outside doing some yard work, and I think knowing that they would see me was the one thing that kept me from flinging the computer, printer, photo paper and everything else in arms reach, out of the window. I was two tents. ; ) At any rate, the computer problems kept me busy all morning. So I had to rush to Target to pick up the prescriptions I was there to get and rush home to drop them off before I went to Athens. Actually my trip out there was the one thing that went right that day! I went to visit Sara (hey!) and take her some books. I know I looked like I was moving in when I dragged that bag of books into her house, but I wanted to give her a selection. There is very little worse than books that you try to read and find nothing interesting. We also sat around and talked of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. As I was leaving, the class reunion meeting was canceled, so I just went home. Well, I got lunch and went home. Steve had planned to go to dinner with Anthony, and since I had JUST eaten, I went to the coffee place to hear Pete's Corner play. That's my friend, Jason's (Punkins), band. I learned something important that night. If you ever want to find out what a goober you were in high school, talk to an old boyfriend/girlfriend! : ) We had such a good time talking about all of the stupid stuff we did back then. I never realized how completely embarrassing I was back then. I suppose when you're 14, you don't realize how over-reactive and dramatic you behave, but it is surely obvious when you look back on it from someone elses point of view! I'm lucky that he will still associate with me. Heeheehee. Anyways, that was fun.
Sunday was church and we had a special service of music and baby dedications in the morning. Once again, I was called upon to take pictures, but I didn't feel quite as bad for snapping during the baby dedications because it wasn't as serious. I'm also hoping the pictures turned out better than last time! : ) I used the mom's camera this time and I didn't mess with any of the settings, so we should be okay. After church we went to my parent's house to celebrate Logan's birthday. He's 12 now, so that makes me old. I kept thinking of when he was born and I had thought to myself "Well, when he's my age (16) I'll be 32." Of course, back then 32 seemed a hundred years away. Now it's only 4 years away. I'm going to have to have an early-to-mid-life crisis to get over this. You guys pick it: A tattoo, a sports car, or run away to New Orleans and become a tour guide at the cemetaries? Anyways, at night I had to stay home and work on my presentation for history class and that was the end of my weekend!
Very excitng, no?
THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT MYSELF THIS WEEKEND
1) I can tear up a piece of ice cream cake.
2) No matter how young I feel on the inside normally, my nephews can still make me feel OLD.
3) Also, they (my nephews) think I'm weird. I realize I'm okay with that. : )
4) Card games can be fun as long as you don't have to remember the differences between the suits.
5) I could live to be 105 with no major disasters and there will still be someone who thinks I'm capable of being manipulated by the passing words of a stranger.
6) I'm not allowed to have harmless, Non-Sequitar (?) thoughts without someone thinking they have some hidden and serious meaning behind them.
7) I hate computers. Hate them, hate them, hate them. Well, unless they are working the way I want them to.
8) I am more ready to graduate than I thought.
9) Weird things can make me feel incredibly self-concious and ill at ease, but the things that SHOULD probably bother me just don't.
10) I used to be incredibly thoughtless.
AND THIS ONE JUST CAME TO ME:

Come on. I totally deserve it.

I had to take a few moments away from the vinyl cutter before I threw it out of the window!

I'm helping to refurbish the OUTSIDE of the SR-71 Blackbird that sits outside of the SpRocket. You know, the big, black plane right outside of the lobby? Apparently sitting outside for 15 or so years with little to no maintenance has taken its toll and now it's been decided to make it pretty again. I've been cutting out the vinyl graphics, and the cutter went haywire and ruined about 5 or more feet of white vinyl, which we just got in yesterday. It's frustrating. I also wish I knew Korean so that I could read the digital display and be able to tell what is wrong with it! FLARN!
OK, enough of that!
I have some very exciting news! A very good friend of mine just completed all of his Masters Degree work and will be graduating soon! Yay, Kenny! *spirit fingers!* Normally, I would secretly lothe him for achieving this while I am still yet an undergrad, but he's worked hard and I'm very proud!
Steve and I went bike riding on Tuesday and I remembered why I both love to ride and also why I hate it. Mainly it's the bugs. The Greenway is located along side a creek that seems to always be covered with swarms of stuff. If you talk, you eat a bug. Very nice!
Yesterday was a critique in my Flash class and I am so mad at myself! Our assignment this last time was a choice between an "art animation" or a "moving ad" for the business of out choice. I had to originally ask for an extension because of everything that had happened, and I received one (along with the rest of the class), but I was having trouble thinking of anything to do. I came up with a couple of ideas for the art animation, but I was afraid that it wouldn't be what the teacher wanted. Finally, the day before class, I worked out an ad that was passible and thought I put everything together. Alas, although I remembered almost everything, I forgot to put in a copy of my thumbnails with my disk. SIGH. That's an automatic lots of points off! Anyways, we sat and watched the submissions, and all of the stuff I thought would be too lame to submit was exactly like most of the things everyone else turned in! Not that their stuff was lame or anything, but I just had a different idea of what I thought the teacher was asking for. I could have been done with the stupid assignment SUNDAY!
I hope it rains.

This has nothing to do with anything, but here is a gratuitus dog shot!

This will probably sound a little bizarre, but do you think it's possible to get addicted to another person?
I don't mean that in a porny way and I also don't mean being dependent on someone, but more of like addicted to them like some people are addicted to cigarettes or booze.
I think it's possible.
I wonder if you could get a patch to help get over it? : )

WEEKEND UPDATE!
Well, I passed yet another non-impressive weekend, but I still had a good time doing it.
Friday after work we went to dinner with some friends of ours. It's the first time we'd really been out with everyone for a few weeks, so we went to Chili's and had dinner. Shannon and I spent most of the meal acting like lunatics, but at least we weren't asked to leave! : ) After dinner we decided to walk over to *dramatic pause* Coldstone! It had been so long since we had gone over there, and Greg and I were in severe withdrawl for some good ice cream, so we made the trek. Apparently everyone in Jones Valley had the same idea because it was packed to the door. Since we were stuck next to the cooler with all of the cakes, Greg decided that it would be smarter to just buy one and take it home to share with everyone. An exellent idea, as it turned out! We got something chocolate-chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cake-more chocolate. It was sooooooooooooo wonderful. So we all sat around the table and joked and ate ice cream cake. I was a little embarrassed because I kept smelling something bad in my kitchen and I didn't want it to gross anyone out. However, I couldn't ever find out what the smell was! I think it was something in the sink, but I was never sure. I lit one of those oil burner things to make myself feel better, and that seemed to work just fine. I hate having to play "Find the Bad Smell"!
Saturday we spent the day with Steve's dad. The funeral director came by to do some final details, and he was annoyingly smarmy. He was so smarmy that I could feel the smarm oozing around the house. I was in the kitchen doing some things for Mr. Lee while he talked with the guy, and I suppose since I wasn't involved in the conversation directly that I was able to hear that guy being kind of manipulative. Granted, I know he's a salesman and his job is to sell, but geez. He was using stories of his own "past losses" to push stuff off on us. I'm glad Mr. Lee was anticipating this because he didn't get talked into anything he didn't want, but I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I've always heard that death is a good business, but I don't think I'd ever understood why until that day! I had to catch up on some homework (I'm still about 2 weeks behind) while Steve and his dad ran some errands and then we had lunch together. I fell asleep pretty hard once we got back to Mr. Lee's house. I just sort of narcolepted out in the chair! Steve had to wake me up when it was time to go and I staggered around for a while before I was fully aware of where I was and what was going on. After that we ran some errands of our own and went home.
Sunday was, of course, a beautiful Easter day! We had church in the morning, along with a whole lot of people I didn't know. As the preacher started giving his sermon, I started to read ahead a little bit in the scriptures, and before I knew it, I totally missed half of the sermon! I don't know what happened! I don't think I'd ever read about the crucifixion in the book of Mark before, so I was engrossed. I knew I could get into a book, but good greif. That afternoon we went to my parent's house. My mom had invited Mr. Lee, so he got to expirence the nephews first hand. Thank goodness they behaved themselves! My mom always has an easter egg hunt for the boys, but Seth got sneaky. He went outside and found where they all were so that when the hunt started, he would be able to find most of them. Of course, then he told us since he knew where they were, he had to hide them again. He hid them from himself! That's quite a feat! Mom let them look for the eggs she had hidden, and since there was a fair amount of cheating going on, she asked Steve and I to hide them again in the back yard. We hid 55 eggs, and hid them fairly well. Well, that's a lie. We kind of ran out of hiding places and just started tossing them into bushes and everything, but the boys still had a time finding them all. Steve was kind of mean at one point because he put an egg in the fork of a tree as high as he could reach. Seth saw it, and started to cry because he couldn't reach it. Mean or not, that was funny! At the end of it all, there was still one egg missing and as far as we know, it's still missing. Neither Steve nor I could remember where we hid everything! Mom said the lawnmower would probably find it later! : ) At the evening church service, we were going to be having a ordination service for the new associate pastor. It had been a while since I had seen one of those, and since Josh is always interested in seeing new and exciting Baptist events, he came along. Since I'm the church historian, I was armed with my camera and took pictures all during the service. I felt as if I was being rude, but everyone assured me that it was fine to take the pictures. I got some really great shots, but it didn't make me feel any less like holy paparazzi! The new associate pastor also got to baptize his own little boy after his service, so that was sweet. I had thought Josh had seen a full immersion baptism before, but afterwards he asked "What was up with him holding his hand up? Is that normal?" I told him it was, but he just said that he thought that maybe Bro. Ken got confused and held his hand up in the classic "I Don't Know" pose. Silly Catholic! ; ) There were still a billion flower arrangements left over from Ms. Rhonda's funeral service, so I had to bring them home with me. I had a giant peace lily, a giant something called a Chavallier (or at least sounds close to that), an azaelia bush, one basket with an arrangement of various green things growing in it and another giant basket with a calla lily, another unidentifiable green plant and a pot of ivy. These are just the ones we took home that night. We still gave some away before I loaded Rudolph. Driving home with a whole ecosystem of plants in my car was an expirence. The azelia kept falling off of the seat and I was all but choking on the pollen flying around. My head is STILL stopped up from that ride home. Allergies aside, I think it's beautiful that so many people loved Ms. Rhonda so much and wanted to give plants in her honor. I hope that when it's my time to go, my family gets a garden half as big! Now I just have to figure out how to plant these things and keep them alive. We all know how inept I am with plants, but I'm going to try hard to keep these kicking as long as I can.
That's about it!

MORE RANDOM ACTS OF BLOGGING
*I read an interesting article this morning about a man who is being sent to prison for extorting money from an elderly Amish man. Apparently, this man knew that the Amish man had once solicited a prostitute and had convinced him that if he didn't give him money, pictures of both of them would appear on the internet. So Mr. Amish man payed him the hush money. You know, I'm sure I'm not the only one to think this, but why was the Amish man worried? It's not like anyone in his community would see them. They're AMISH!
*The weather radar lied to me yesterday. I checked the weather online and it said "partly cloudy", so I decided to go outside and apply the decals to the nurse's van (like I should have done weeks ago). Apparently, their idea of partly cloudy means no clouds in the sky and pounding sunlight and heat. Granted, it was only 80 degrees or so, but still! I can't help it. I'm a weenie when it comes to being hot. I can't stand it.
*Today is Jason's (the Office Sniper) last day with us here at the SpRocket. He is moving on to another graphics job somewhere in Decatur that pays him more and where he won't have to deal with everyone second guessing what he designs because it "Doesn't fit in with the market research we payed someone way too much to conduct." I've seen many of his very, very nice designs go to waste because VP didn't think it was cheesy enough (That's the only reason I can think of anyways). So, good luck, Jason! I'll miss having to dodge imaginary bullets!
*When I worked in the call center, I had brought in a microwave for the office to use. Two days ago, the call center staff was movied into a new area which didn't have the space for the microwave anymore, so I moved it up to my office. It doesn't look it, but that mother is HEAVY. I had to carry it across the parking lot and up two flights of stairs. I ended up with cuts on my forearms and sore muscles. I seriously need to go back to the gym! Of course, while I was carrying it up to the office, I came microwave-to-face with about a thousand camp kids. Honestly, it was the first time that the counselors asked them to move out of my way! I'm beginning to think I should carry heavy appliances more often, if to only get to my office a little easier. : )

Just a small bit of advice...
Let's pretend you are going to make, say, a smoothie. You grab your blender, look around for the top, and proceed to cut up all of the yummy fruits that you plan to smooth (or whatever the proper smoothie verb is). After the said smoothie is made and you begin to drink it, if you have a straw obstruction, please see what causes it right away.
I did not look to see what it was until I was almost done with my drink. Apparently, a piece of plastic shrink wrap had fallen into my blender while it was in the cabinet. I didn't ever notice it, even when I started putting things into the pitcher. I unknowingly proceeded to drink little pieces of plastic along with my smoothie this morning. It wasn't until I was almost done that I noticed something that looked decidedly unlike a strawberry. When I pulled it out, it was a crumpled up piece of partially shredded plasic wrap. Granted it could have been something much worse, like a roach, but still.
Yuck.

Well, things are starting to get back to normal or at least as normal as they are ever going to be. Everything went well this weekend, and most of you were there, so if you don't mind, I won't rehash.
There is one thing that I actually expirenced last week that I do want to share. For the first time in my life, I actually stood outside during a tornado! When I lived with my parents, I was basically slung into a bath tub and covered with pillows until the weatherman gave an all-clear. Now really, covered with pillows? As if a throw pillow is going to do much good when the very forces of God are swirling about you. I never understood it, I never questioned it, and I refuse to begin now.
Anyways. My dad was always the one standing outside watching the storms, sometimes accompanied by my big sister, and I always heard about how awesome it was after it was all over. So this time I went outside with the men-folk and we watched the storm. It was amazing! I mean, it wasn't as if a tornado was right over us or anything, but the sirens were going off, it actually hailed (first time to see that, too) and we all stood outside and watched it. Now I understand why people are storm chasers! Okay, I take that back. I don't understand why people actually get into cars and drive after the tornados, but I do understand the fascination with them.
However, I did have one moment of shame that I feel is only fair to tell you about. All of my life, I've heard that a tornado "Sounds juss like a freight train." Since I have always been cowered underneath something when any of them had been near our house, I just took that little fact for granted, or at least I understood that a tornado had a rushing, loud sound. So as we were all standing out under the church porch-thingie, I was watching the southern area of sky. All at once I heard this rushing sound coming from behind that I couldn't identify. Immediately, adrenaline surged through me. Steve's cousin, Greg, just happened to be standing next to me, and I honestly almost jumped onto him like Scooby-Doo jumps into Shaggy's arms when he is scared. Had I not turned around at that moment before I jumped, Thanksgiving would never again have been the same. Apparently it wasn't the murderous, funnel of death that I heard coming straight towards the church. It was a Domino's delivery van.
Yes, I almost clobbered Greg because a delivery van passed by. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to take my uncomfortable moment into another room.

We are all back home and it's still very difficult, but we are working on trying to get everything taken care of. Steve has been really great with his dad, even though it's obviously very hard on him too. They are away right now, speaking with the funeral director about the last minute stuff. In case you don't already know, Ms. Rhonda's funeral will be on Saturday at Valhalla Memorial Garden. Visitation will be at noon until 2 and her funeral service will follow directly after that. Mr. Lee didn't want to have a graveside service, so I don't know what will happen after the funeral service, but once again I just ask for prayers for us all. Poor Mr. Lee is taking this so hard. It's totally understandable, but it's a terrible thing to have to see. He just wanders around picking things up and putting them down again. He'll be fine and then he'll be in tears. I'm not altogether certain that he even slept last night. He is going to need a lot of support from us and everyone who knows him. He and Ms. Rhonda were best friends as well as being married, so he's lost a lot more than just a spouse. Steve is also walking around in a daze. He just keeps thinking about everything his mom will not be here for, and it's almost like it's too much for him to process.
Grief is a very weird thing. It's one thing to see if from the outside, but completely another thing to expirence it. It's like time has no meaning and you find yourself staring at the wall for a long time without knowing why. All kinds of little things make you cry and then you're laughing about something you've remembered the next minute. It's a little like being bi-polar, I would imagine.
At any rate, we are working through it. It will be a long road, but one I know will eventually be a little easier to travel on.

Ms. Rhonda has passed away. She died this morning at 1:25 am. She was fighting it the whole way, but right up at the end she finally just let go. Although we will miss her, all of us are convinced she's in a much better place and finally feeling better. Thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes. The whole family appreciates it. We will be helping Mr. Lee with the funeral arrangements and we hope to have some information for everyone soon.
Thank you again.
Thank you again.

An Update.
I got a call from Steve about half an hour ago. The medical staff feels it's best not to do anything more for Rhonda and to let her pass peacefully. They will no longer be giving her any of the liquid nutrients and it was decided not to put her on life support to prolong her suffering. We don't know how much longer she will be with us. It could be hours or days.
I don't think I have to elaborate on how this makes us feel, but I did want to ask for prayers for our family from those of you who pray and for those of you who don't keep us in your thoughts.
I'm going to be with Steve and Mr. Lee soon, so please pray that I can get there safely and give them whatever comfort I can. I don't know how much good I will be able to do.
This is very hard, but we've all prayed that God's will would be done. We may not understand why things worked out this way, but it isn't always our place to understand. Personally I think that part sucks, but then again, sometimes it's best if we don't understand everything in life.
Thank you for all of the prayers and good wishes. Please just extend them a little further to get us through this rough time.

Not such a good day yesterday. Mr. Lee called us early (about 9:00 am) and told us that Ms. Rhonda had gotten sicker in the night and that they might have to consider the possibility of putting her on a breathing machine. Steve and I both knew that she wasn't well, but we didn't realize that it had gotten that bad. We went down there to be with them for a while. Ms. Rhonda really doesn't look good. She labors to breathe, but she can still breathe on her own and she is still alert enough to know what we are all saying. However, she's incredibly weak and with all of the medications she's on, you can't understand what she says when she talks. Poor Mr. Lee and Steve. Lee can't really talk about any of this without choking up and it's hard to see Steve, who doesn't exactly express emotions freely, cry. I think they are preparing for the worst at this point.
I just feel so helpless. I want to be strong for both of them, but I'm a basket case. I'm always trying to cheer people up and make things better, but there is nothing I can do in this case. There is nothing that I can do to make this better. There is nothing I can do.

Pratt, Kelly. "SOMETHING THAT IRRITATES ME." Blogger. Volume 1. PP: 1. 2006.
I know I don't have very much room to gripe about unimportant things. What with war, poverty and illness going on. I'm not being held captive like Patty Hurst...uh, I mean, Jill Carroll. I'm not jobless or homeless and I own the two cutest dogs in the world. I'm blessed. I'm blessed way more than most people and I know it. No one needs to remind me that things could be worse. I know this. I see this every day in many, many ways. Maybe that's why the things that irritate me aren't serious things. I like it like that. I truly hope that doesn't ever change.
All that being said, I still have human emotions that get the best of me sometimes. Sometimes people do things that get under my skin and I can't help what ultimately is a knee-jerk reaction to ignorance. Therefore, I am going to gripe about something that bothers me. It's a small thing, granted, but I'm still going to complain. You have been warned.
I have noticed a new trend that makes no sense at all to me. My job takes me to many different parts of the SpRocket where most employees don't go. I sometimes have to go into Hab 1 & Hab 2, I'm on the MCC, I'm upstairs in the admin. offices and all through the museum. My point is that I'm eventually going to run into a counselor at some point. We have a whole new crop of councelors, both chicks and dudes. I don't normally interact with them other than a smile or a wave because they have a wall of loud, running, children that they are trying to herd together to get from one place to another. However, there are times when I'm working somewhere and one of the guy councelors will come up to me and say something, usually, "So...having fun?" I always try and be nice, because you never know when you will make a friend, you know? It's usually at this point that they look to see what I'm doing and notice the *Horrifying Scream* wedding band I wear. They don't think I notice, but I do. When I turn around to say something, they are gone. Is it just me or is that kind of insulting? Yes, I'm married. Yes, that means if you were going to sleaze on me I have a viable excuse to rebuff your sleaze. However, just because I'm married, it doesn't mean you can't still talk to me or be nice. I AM allowed to have friends who are men, you know. Steve has given me permission. : ) I was just talking to a friend about this yesterday, and it wasn't long after that that it happened to me again. So, they can't ask me out...they don't talk to me. Nice. Real nice. Thanks!
Oh yeah, and this is completely off topic. The word "Chaperon" wasn't mispelled. Also, you don't capitalize every word in a sentence. I know this, yet, I still have to make the sign that way because you think it looks better. No, that's fine. I don't mind having 8 people tell me it's wrong. I got the memo...my TPS reports will be fine after this, I SWEAR. Sigh. Look how shouty that made me!
Whew...I feel better now. : )
*Spazmodic, choked back laughter*
I have been supressing my laughter about this website since yesterday in the hopes that my boss won't catch me surfing the web while I should be working. Okay, to be fair, I was working, I just jumped back and forth from my project to this website while things were, you know, rasterizing and stuff.
This website is called "Go Fug Yourself" and I have no idea where it is based or who writes it, but it is funny! It's basically these two chicks who make fun of celebrities clothes. Not all celebrities mind you, just the ones who go out looking like homeless aliens and what-not. I have come to the conclusion that when famous, rich people want to go out and don't want to don normal-people clothes, they call it "Haute Couture" (is that even close?)and we are supposed to forgive them and be dazzled at their trend setting ways. However, if someone like me, who is neither famous nor rich, goes out of the house looking like one of these people, rumors begin to spread that Steve lost his job and I'm having to take odd jobs as a circus clown to make ends meet. At any rate, the ladies who write this are really sharp.
It harkens me back to the days when I dated that guy who turned out to be gay. When he saw someone dressed badly, he would say "Oh No She Di'ent!" and go on to explain their fashion faux pas and how it could be remedied. Something tells me that I should have known he was gay WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY before he told me.
Anyways, have a laugh.

Greetings!
I'm not going to do my usual weekend update, simply because I had a rather uneventful weekend and it would be boring. However, there is one thing I think is worth telling you.
Sunday I wore a new sweater to church (riveting, I know). I had bought it a little big on purpose, because with my inexpert laundry skills I tend to shrink stuff and I wanted to be able to wear it more than once. The result of it being a little big was that anytime I bent over without the modest hand at the neck of the sweater, I basically flashed anyone who happened to be looking. I had been careful all that morning not to forget about that, but by the time service was over, I had forgotten. So I bent over to grab my bible and purse. Because I had some other stuff with me that slid off of the pile, I had to stand there for a few moments and gather everything together. It wasn't until I felt a breeze that I noticed what was going on! I jerked upright and held all of the books to my chest and walked out of the sanctuary with a really red face.
You know, looking back on it, it wasn't so much that I flashed congregation that bothers me. What bothers me is the beads that came flying out of the choir loft as I walked by.
Quick note to self...shrink that sweater soon!

I used to think I didn't like children. However, I have come to the conclusion that I like them fine but they scare the bejeebus out of me.
I had a dream the other night, which I will not delve into because it was complicated and strange and mostly fogotten at this point, but I remember one thing very clearly. I was trapped in a room with about 4 other people, one of which was a little blonde girl who was about 3 or 4. I don't know who she was, or more to the point WHAT she was, but she was freaking me out. She didn't talk like a little kid, and she seemed to be trying to find something out from us. Like some kind of bizarre mind-meld or something. I saw her coming at me and I tried to get away, but she pointed at me and two of the other adults in the room grabbed my arms and pinned me down. Then the little girl said "I have to see!" and she ran over and grabbed me by the face and pulled me to her level. She pressed her forehead to mine and stared into my eyes. Her eyes got bigger and went all black, but I couldn't move to get away. After a minute or so she pushed my face away, slamming my head on the floor and walked away. All I remember her saying before I woke up on the verge of screaming was "She's empty, except for the stars."
HUH!? No more crack for me before bedtime.

OKAY! Apparently Jason will not let me live it down until I fix it, so let me fix it. A couple of entries ago, I made a link to our Save the Saturn V website, but the link was wrong. You may find it here. Are you happy now?!
I went to dinner with the IT department from Steve's work last night. I was the obigitory spouse and only woman with the group other than the boss. I made the mistake of asking a tecnical question and even though they tried to explain it to me in simpler terms, the explanation just kept getting longer and longer. Note to self...if you have questions about cmoputer stuff, look it up on Google. We had a great time, but after dinner was over, I got sick. It wasn't the normal kind of sick. It was the "makes Ebola and the Bubonic Plague pale in comparison" and you start making out your will just in case you don't make it to tomorrow kind of sick. Who knows what it was, because I felt much better this morning. As a good friend of mine says, maybe I just got a "holt" of some bad chicken. : ) Through the haze of yuck, I finished my paper for better or for worse. In the words of everyone's favorite guy, Han Solo, I have a bad feeling about this. I know the teacher won't say anything to me specifically, but she always writes little notes on the papers she grades and she grades HARD. I dread getting it back and she hasn't even read it yet. Oh well... Now if I could just finish my Flash project and make it to summer.
I'm getting all of my hair cut off tonight. Hopefully it won't end up looking like that travesty that happened right after I got married (screams of terror), but I have to do something! As much as I want long hair, it just won't do anything anymore. It looks great for about 15 minutes every morning, but by the time I get in the car, it's like wearing a dead weasel on my head. So to combat road-kill hair, I'm chopping it off. : (
Well, I need to get busy with some work or a reasonable faximile of it at least. Even if you don't have anything specific to do, it's nice to look busy sometimes!

Do you know how disheartening it is to come home, have every intention of doing some hard core research paper writing, and suddenly wake up in the fetal position in a puddle of your own spittle? Charming...
I have almost finished writing my paper and it sucks. I'm not kidding. I just can't make myself get interested in it. I don't want to write it, I don't want to think about it, I would even kind of like to go back in time and trap Alexander the Great in a big, sticky piece of fly-paper and keep him from conquering Persia so that the Hellenistic era of Egypt never happened and this particular subject wouldn't exist!
Yeah, it's gotten to that point.
Poor Steve has fallen asleep in the living room. He's been so stressed and busy that I don't want to have to wake hium up and tell him to go to bed. This is the first night in a long time he's been home. I was just thinking last night when he came home that I feel kind of like we've gotten to the point of "Hey! Nice to see you again. How's the family? The Kids? Well, got to run. See you in a few days!"
Speaking of the kids...we had to take ChickenDog Butler to the vet. He acted terrible. He also got so nervous that his fur started flying out of him for no reason. It's like he thinks he's a porcupine, but since he doesn't have any quills, he just throws furs all over the place. By the time they called us back, I was boot deep in blond Lab hair. He also slobbered all over be from sheer anxiety. YUCK!
Although it's a little late, I'm going to go ahead and give my WEEKEND UPDATE!
Friday after work, Steve and I went to dinner with his newest co-worker Todd and his wife Sharon. They are really nice! I wasn't hungry, but when we got to Beaureguards, I decided that I would order a fried baloney sandwhich. I don't know what I was thinking. When it arrived, I became frightened at not only the smell of it, but the huge slices of baloney kind of oozing out. I only took a couple of bites before I had to give it up. *Shudder* I don't like to think about it.
Saturday I got up early and thought that I would finish my Flash project. I worked on it for about 10 solid hours, but couldn't get the darned thing to work. I got to the point of frustration I very rarely ever reach. I literally had to restrain myself from punching the monitor of my iMac. I had to get up and walk around for a while until the feeling passed. Luckily Jason is a Flash Master, and he gave me some code that will hopefully get me out of my bad spot. If it doesn't, I'm going to burn down his house. : ) Since Steve was down in the 'Ham visiting his mom (who is still freaking in the hospital if you can believe it) I decided to get out of the house for a while and see if I could get the ol brain working on the research paper. While I was getting ready, my friend Sara called! I haven't talked to her since November. She said that she reads my blog every day so, Hey Scary Spice! After she sort of fell asleep while we were talking (I knew I was boring but...geez) ; ) she let me go and I got my stuff together and went back to that coffee place where my friend and his band play. They weren't there, but I got a latte and settled back with my lap top. About half an hour later they came in, and informed me that they had been to his grandfather's funeral. : ( I never got to meet his grandparents, but I know it was Mr. Harris' dad who died, and that made me really sad. Jason was all torn up, which is understandable, so after they played a few songs, they all came to my table and we talked it out. I think the lead singer of the band, Eric, must think I'm kind of a moron. He kept finding it necessary to explain simple things to me. He also said "Can I say something without offending you?" I love that question, by the way. Like the proverbial box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get. : ) Since I don't know him that well, I didn't really know what he was going to say, so I told him "sure". He said "You've got to be the most romantic person I've ever met." I must've looked taken aback, because that was certainly not what I was expecting. I was just trying to puzzle out why that would be offensive in any way when he said "No, I totally mean that as a complement" and then went on to explain what he meant by romantic. I knew what he meant, that I had a good imagination and a way of looking at things through the rose-colored glasses you hear so much about (I won't explain the convo, if you don't mind, for pacing reasons). If he wasn't so nice and funny, I might have gotten offended at the fact that he was explaining what he meant! I actually ended up staying out there much longer than I had intended. It's nice to have a place to go and hang out without feeling like a bum, a NORM! kind of place, but I'm afraid Jason thinks I'm stalking him now. I was just thinking that I wouldn't mind making the place a regular stop for Saturday night lattes, but Jason said he was surprised to see me there. I didn't really know if he was glad to see me or what, but now I'm afraid if I keep going back, he's going to get a restraining order! : ) Nah. Probably not. Oh well, at least he doesn't have that crack-head girlfriend anymore to do it for him. I'm too old to deal with jealous girlfriends. I can't help it if I threaten other women! Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha! Sorry, I can't really even think that with a straight face!
Sunday was the norm. Church in the morning, my parent's for lunch, and then back home to work on the paper.
It's been spring break this week, but it's been the most un-springy break I've ever had. Last year at this time I was in Florida getting a tan and lying on the beach with my bathing suit top on upside down...I wish I was there now! : )
Well, I need to get back to the paper...always back to the paper.
Blech.

DRIVE BY BLOGGING
This is just a brief note to say hello and to say it'll be a little while until I can write a good blog again.
School has become a thorn in my...um...side, but it's nobody's fault but my own. I have the little brother of Stupid Paper due on monday and I haven't been able to find a great deal of information on my topic "The Herakles Knot". Don't even ask. I've also got to finish my Flash project. You'd think 10 hours on Saturday would have taken care of it, but noooooooooooo. Hastared project.
Work has been busy. I haven't had that many different projects, but what I've been doing has been time consuming. I had to make some vinyl logos for the company vehicles. It took me hours to do them. Imagine putting together a very tiny, very sticky jig-saw puzzle. It was like doing micro-surgery on a smurf. Oy.
More to come...

Sorry for the lapses in posting. I'm sure all two of you who check my blog on a regular basis are going through withdrawl or something! : )
It's been hellaciously busy for me at work these last two weeks. Yesterday I was finally able to start on the biggest project that I had on hold, and I finished it this afternoon! Woo-Hoo! We are running a "Save the Saturn V" fundraiser and I had to make a bunch of posters and stuff for advertising, 57 of them at last count. Please, go and buy some coffee in the groovy pouch my friend Rodney designed and help us restore that big rocket that's laying down in the back of the park!
I also stabbed myself again. You know, no one should ever get to the point of such flippancy to be able to say something like that and not be upset about it, but alas, that's where I have come to. I had just changed my blade out yesterday, when my mom called. I still had the blade in my hand when I sat down to talk to her, and when attempting to take the blade out of my left hand, I jammed the blade a 1/4 of an inch into my right palm. Oh....I wanted to say curse words so bad, but my mother was on the phone with me and I couldn't! It didn't bleed much, but it hurts like a heifer-dog!
We thought Rhonda was going to get to come home today, but they had to do another minor procedure on her again which has set her ETA back to "we don't know". Nothing really terrible, thank goodness, but they thought she was having a bad reaction to some of her meds, and they were going to put a filter into her femoral (?) artery to keep her from geting blood clots or some such thing. I swear, by the time she gets home, with all of the plastic and silicon she will have inside of her, she'll be like the Bionic Woman. *insert obligitory nananananananananananana sound here*
Steve took me to see his new building last night. I have dubbed it the Starship Westar-prise. I wish I could explain why, but I'm not allowed. It was...interesting. I will say, however, that I may look into becoming a corporate interior designer. Apparently you don't have to be that talented and from what I could see, it's a possibility that they let you drink on the job. ; )
Well, I need to get back to working!

WEEKEND UPDATE!
This weekend was fraught, FRAUGHT I SAY, with a plethora of highs and lows. It was a veritable sine wave of emotional journeys.
OK, yeah, I'm over dramatizing that a bit. : ) However, I did see both ends of the joy spectrum this weekend.
Friday night I went to the gym on my own. That night they had me down for the upper body workout, which I hate, and I was hoping to get done quickly. I didn't get to do everything because the "Popeye dudes" were there. This is what I call those guys who have such big muscles that they can't put their arms all the way down to their sides. Seriously. Once guy looks normal everywhere else, but his arms are huge. I fear for any shirt that he puts on that doesn't contain a healthy amount of Lycra, because if he sneezes and flexes his biceps, I'm pretty sure it would fly off in tatters. Don't make him angry...you wouldn't like him when he's angry. The Popeye Guys all hang around the free weights and watch themselves in the mirror as if they are tryng to figure out one of those 3D pictures that look like bad TV reception. They make me too nervous to get near them, AND the sheer largeness of their muscles doesn't leave me an awful lot of room to move around anyway. So I left early. As I was getting in the car I realized that I had missed some calls, one of which was from my friend who had gotten so sick last fall. It wasn't actually her that called, it was her mother. My friend went into surgery on Friday, but unfortunately all of the healing that the doctors had been anticipating had not happened. In fact, her small intestine was pretty much gone completely. They had to reverse her gastric bypass so that her body would be able to hold more food, but she will probably have to rely on the liquid nutrients they were giving her intrveinously, maybe even for the rest of her life. They still have some ideas that might help her, so the outlook isn't completely dark, but my friend is horribly depressed and scared. I can totally understand that. Please just keep her in your prayers.
Saturday dawned beautifully. I woke up way earlier than I wanted to and couldn't go back to sleep. So after letting the dogs out (yeah, I let the dogs out!) I decided that all of the beautiful flowers blooming outside needed to be photographed. I love Spring for many things, flowers being #1 on that list. However, I do not love spring because of the nerve gasses that the flowers and trees spread around. I totally forget that mornings are the worst time to be outside if you are allergic to pollen. There I was wallering around on the grass trying to get a good shot of the purple wildflowers growing on our lawn. I was right up against the Bradford Pear, and I'm all but climbing the ornamental plum tree to get good close ups of the blossoms. It wasn't until I went back inside that I started itching, sneezing and breaking out into a lovely rash. Nice. That being done, I medicated myself and then sat back to watch the recorded Monk and Battlestar Galactica season finale. Since I know and love some very big Battlestar fans who probably didn't get to see it, I won't ruin it, but the end had me scratching my head. It was awesome, though. I decided to give Steve a day to himself, since he doesn't seem to get any peace from anywhere else these days, so I did my own thing while he did his. I shopped and got groceries and I think he told me he had to go into work for a while and get his oil changed. I didn't see him again until he came home after lunch. I worked on some homework and he listened to his audio novels It was very nice. I had planned to go to The Coffee Tree and listen to my friend's band that night and Steve declined to join me. Josh was supposed to meet me at our house, but he was late, so I went on without him! He met me there, and we sat and talked for a while before the band set up. I was expecting something a little flashier, but I was plesantly surprised at their sound. Sort of a countryish-folkish-Edwin McCainish type thing. Since it was open mic night, two other acts performed and Josh and I spent the time when they were playing getting aquainted with Jason's (my friend) band members I didn't know. We had so much FUN! We just sat back and talked about this and that. I got caught up with Jason's life, since I hadn't seen him in forever. He had just broken up with his girlfriend, who apparently was kinda psycho. She showed up that night with her little boy and I recognized her as the lady who used to cut my hair! It's a small world afterall. Apparently her craziness surpassed even what Jason told me because everyone who knew Jason kept a watch out for her to make sure she didn't...hurt him, cause a scene? I don't know, but I do know they didn't leave them alone for long periods of time when she would follow him outside during his cigarette breaks. Very creepy. Apparently she had come there that night to beg him to come back to her...using her little boy as kind of a weapon. It's not their child, it's her son, and Jason had made it clear that he wasn't interested in playing daddy to him unless things looked like they were getting serious between them. Ex-girlfriend had different ideas. People who use kids like that make me sick! Anyways, after that uncomfortable moment was over and she had gone, they asked me to sing with them! I got to sing!!!!! Yay! We ended up staying until well after the cafe closed, because the lead singer's mom runs the place and said she didn't mind if we stayed while they were cleaning up. It was a lot of fun!
Sunday was blah. I don't know if it's my allergies or what, but I felt like the inside of my body was on fire. I couldn't get cool for anything. I went to church, but ended up coming home because of the way I felt. I went out to my parent's house and then on to Steve's parent's house to water the plants and clean for them. Steve had gone down to Birmingham to see his folks and by the time I got home, he was home and taking a nap. I did more homework, made dinner and went to bed.
So what did you do?

I just came across a link for a person who makes wooden wedding bands and engagement rings. I don't mean to be rude, because the person who makes these things is obviously talented, but...wood?
I've been to many a wedding where the officiant has said, "These rings are made of gold, which does not tarnish, much as your love for each other and the love of Christ for you does not tarnish or fade."
I wonder what he would say about a wooden ring? "These rings are made of wood, such as trees are...and trees can get pretty old, but only if they don't get parasites or a subdivision isn't planned where it stands. So here's hoping!"
Somehow, it doesn't strike me as appropriate. After all, the mask of Agamemnon was found still shining after years and years, but the box that heald it and the body it was on was long gone.

OK, that last entry wasn't exactly fair.
I know I shouldn't judge anyone about anything because I have enough of my own faults.
Anyways.
Oh! I found out that a old friend of mine from school has a band that plays at one of the coffee shops near here. I'm supposed to go hear them this weekend, and he said if I'd like to sing with them sometime that I could! Yay! Of course, I don't know any of their songs, but the gesture was nice. : )
Well, the day has blossomed into beauty, and so must I. Off to the baths!

I have a new purpose in life. I am going to learn how to say "Your Mother" to Jason, the Office Sniper, in many different languages. If you know any obscure language and can tell me how to say it, I'd appreciate it. Please e-mail it phonetically, though.
That brings up another thought. I wonder if there are support groups for people who were Hooked on Phonics?
I'm feeling rather British today. I've been listening to "Goblet of Fire" while working and I've been listening to the reader's accent so much that I copy it without thinking. I'm bad about picking up accents, though. We had an exchange student from Germany who I'm sure thought I was constantly making fun of her. I couldn't help it! God help me if I ever get around someone from New England. Even with just the slight southern accent I have, that would probably make my head explode. It's bad enough that I have to teach myself to talk all over again when I spend the afternoon with my family. I end up sounding like one of the Clamppets.
I've been very productive today, although I'm sure no one who has been in my office today would think so. I spent hours cutting out vinyl lettering and other such things, but any time someone came into my office, I was eating lunch or talking on the phone. That's just my luck.
We drove down to Birmingham to visit Ms. Rhonda again last night, and she is way more alert than she has been thus far. Steve and his dad went to dinner while I stayed with her, and she was fine until the morphine kicked in. She had been talking about eating oatmeal and then she got stuck. She just kept saying "oatmeal" over and over. She finally stopped and told me she was going to just let the meds do their thing and she fell asleep. I read until Mr. Lee and Steve came back. Steve has been wiped out due to work stress (BTW, I am SO glad I'm not an IT person.) so he let me drive home. I say he "let me" because my driving scares him to death and he doesn't ususally want me to drive. I only saw him put on the passenger side breaks once. I think that's a record.
ACK! Now I know why MySpace.com is usually banned from the Sprocket network. I have a friend with a MySpace page that I wanted to read, and I just figured that I'd try and see if I could find a way onto the page while I was at work one day. Well, I was allowed in, and after I was done reading that page, I started searching to see if there was anyone else I knew who had pages. I actually found a page from an old friend from high school. I hadn't talked to him in a while so I went in and started looking at his profile and what not. Then I clicked on a link that said "More Pics" and I clicked on it, and OH. MY. GOD. There was a picture of him in his underwear. I know that it's not such a big deal, I mean he wasn't nude or anything, but I certainly wasn't expecting it! Of course, then I freak out because I'm on my work computer. I can just imagine the Internet Nazi finding this website on my history and coming down on me like a ton of bricks. So I attack the back button and try to back out and I don't know where I ended up, but I was staring at a picture of a guy who actually was naked! That website LIES when it says you can't post those kinds of things! I was within an inch of just jerking the cords out of the walls, but somehow I managed to just get the search engine turned off. I sat there for a moment, almost as if I thought that my CAT5 would magically explode out of the port and start flogging me, but it didn't. So far none of the computer guys has questioned me, but I'm certainly not going to try MySpace at work anymore!

I am such a dork-fish!
This morning when I went to school I was busting it to get to class on time. IWhen I pulled in to the parking lot, there were hardly any cars there at all, so I was confused. Of course the first thing to pop into my head was that I had missed a holiday of some sort. I can't help it, I'm a flake! When I realized how stupid that was I parked and went inside. Still, I didn't see anyone else and the door to the computer lab was closed. My teacher is always threatening to close the door to late comers, so I went to the other door in hopes that I could slip in unnoticed. That's when I saw the clock. It was 1 minute to 8:00 am. My class starts at 8:30! Well, at least I wasn't late. : )
Also, I apparently don't have many friends here at work because I came to work wearing 1 big, dangly earring and not 2. No one said a word about this! I really need some kind of indentured servant whose main function is to make sure I have my clothes and jewelry on correctly in the morning. I'm going to end up one of those little old ladies who have their underwear on the outside of their clothes!

What a beautiful day! Days like this should be set aside for specific purposes other than working, such as going to the park, taking pictures of early budding flowers and trees, and generally bollyfoxing about. I'm not really sure what bollyfoxing is, but my mom says that word occasionally. Even if the context is wrong, at least I do know it's not a bad thing. : )

Boy, that was stupid!
Yesterday morning I got up early so that I wouldn't be late for school. I went ahead and ate breakfast, which I rarely do, because I didn't want to be starving to death by the time my first class let out. Of course, that didn't help at all and I ended up leaving early so that I could go get a muffin. Seriously, all I wanted was a blueberry muffin and only a muffin was going to do! I drove across town to go to a place that I knew had muffins, and I got one plus a giant mocha latte. Pretty much, I got busy and that's all I had to eat or drink all day. I forgot that little fact.
I worked about an hour late and I went to the gym. They've changed my workout program and put me into the next level, so everything is harder and heavier. I did everything, even the cardio part, and when it was time for me to go I felt fine. I knew I needed to stop at Wal-Mart and pick up some stuff before I went home, which I did, and right in the middle of the sock and underwear section, my mind went blank. I couldn't remember why I was there. I needed neither socks nor underwear, of that I was sure, but I didn't know what I had come for. I also started to get really, really flushed and dizzy. I decided that whatever it was I was missing in my basket wasn't that important, so I bought what I had and drove home. By the time I got home, I couldn't see very well and I couldn't walk straight. I also couldn't focus my mind, and while Steve was talking to me I kept losing the thread of the conversation. Apparently I had become dehydrated to the point of passing out, and if it hadn't been for Steve telling me to sit down, I probably would have fainted. I finally got some water and made myself eat dinner. I'm glad I went home when I did. Can you imagine passing out at Wal-Mart? Yeesh.

I'm in the process of chewing my own face off in frustration. Yes, it's quite a sight.
Most people I work with seem easy going and not hard to please when it comes to the more simple aspects of my sign making abilities. They request them, I make them. No big deal, right? Well, not everyone is as easy-going as that. We have one lady who works here who is legendary in her inability to make even the most simple of decisions when it comes to her signs. I will not tell you her function in our business, but let's just say, she is near the top of that proverbial hill where the excrement succumbs to the pull of gravity.
One of my functions is to make standardized, temporary signs. You can think of my office as the old New Orleans red light district of signage. You need it dirty, fast, and cheap...you call me. I have templates of just about every standard sign we have, including the ones she always asks for, but she always asks me to send her a proof. People, I'm telling you, I plug in a logo and a date she needs and that's pretty much it! Why would she need a proof?! What does she think I'm going to do, screen an image of tap-dancing drag queens in the background? Well, I do this for her, because I've learned that it doesn't matter what I do or say, she will ask for it to be changed in some way. She will especially do this if I decide I don't want to deal with her and I just print it out and send it over to her. I think she does it to drive me crazy. At any rate, since I do this for her, I've asked her to do one teeny-tiny favor for me. When she needs a sign created, please, PLEASE request a high resolution logo from the company in question. I've asked her to do this & my boss has asked her to do this. It seems like a fairly easy request to make, right? Every time, every stinking time, she sends us a 72 dpi logo that is about 2 inches square that she pulls off of the internet and wants us to blow it up to fit into a space about a foot and a half wide. I'm pretty sure you know what happens to an image when you do that, right? It gets pixilated beyond belief. Before I knew what to expect from her, I e-mailed her and told her that the image was fuzzy and that she might want to request one from the company that we can use. She immediately e-mails my boss, not even me, my boss - and freaks the heck out about it. So now I just use the crappy logos she sends, or we are forced to re-create the logos if they become completely unusable (which is hard because you aren't supposed to approximate with logos, you have to be dead on). You'd think if she was so worried about making these look nice, she'd be more concerned with the company logos looking nice than what color border (which we only change for her, at her insistance) that the sign has. Grrr.
Anyways, time for the WEEKEND UPDATE! WOO-HOO!
Friday I had to work late, so all I did was stay at work and make a new sign. It was very exciting. It was actually a good sign, so I was proud of it. I did a little more design work than I usually do, so it wasn't as much drudgery as usual. If you come to the Sprocket (even without the spinning disk in the lobby) and see the signs advertising the Dog Tags in the gift shop...that's it. : ) Steve was being a good son and he went to Birmingham to stay the night with his mom and dad so that he could help out when needed. Awwwww.
Saturday I tried to be useful, but mostly all I did was laundry and clean the living room. Hey, don't judge, there was a lot of laundry! : ) I also had a date with Josh and Anthony that night to have dinner at Little Tony's and go see a movie. The dinner was great, but the movie wasn't. We went to see "Date Movie" which had the potential to actualy be really funny, but it was mostly bad. There were a couple of scenes that were funny, but for the most part it was like a spoof of a spoof and it relied on dirty jokes and potty humor for the most part. I just don't find stuff like that funny anymore. It's my one and only proof that I'm an adult now! heeheehee. I didn't get home until almost midnight, and Steve was back home when I got there. We talked for a while and then fell asleep.
Sunday we went to church in the morning and to my parent's house for lunch. I stayed home to work on homework last night, but I kept getting sidetracked. I finally resigned myself to watching a Harry Potter movie with Steve, who is fast realizing how much is cut out of the book now that he is listening to the audio versions of the novels in his truck. It's not as much fun watching movies with him when he keeps saying "HEY! They didn't talk about (insert missing part of story here)!" That's usually my job! : )
Well, I need to get back to work! Jason keeps shooting at me from the hall, and I need to move out of his line of sight.
Oh yeah, I get my book review back from my Prof today, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I need a good grade to offset the last exam I had!

Speaking of dreams...
I had another one that is still bothering me. Not quite like putting the baby in a drawer, but still weird. I dreamed that I found out how to go back in time. I could only go back once, and I chose to go back to save my grandmother from getting killed in a car accident. So I made all of these arrangements and knew exactly what I needed to do and where I needed to go, but when I got to the past, I kept getting stalled. I looked at my watch and realized that I needed to be at the place, so I ran to get there, but when I did, the accident had already happened. I started running between all of the emergency vehicles and screaming "There's nothing I could do! There's nothing I could do!" I just kept repeating that, over and over. It was scary. I just felt so helpless and sad, and I woke up feeling that way. Yuck. The weird thing is that my grandmother died of cancer, not in an accident, so I don't know where that came from! Strange.
Anyways, I ended up not going with Steve down to Birmingham last night. I still felt horrible by the time work was over, so I decided I would go home, have dinner, watch my two shows and go to sleep. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. Well, it was not so much fate as it was Steve. : ) He had to stop by his parent's house to pick some stuff up, but remembers at the last minute that he doesn't have the key to their house, I do. So I have to turn around and drive into Madison to open and lock the house. The twenty or so minutes we spent looking for his parent's stuff is probably the most time we've spent together in a week! He's been working a lot, so at least I know I'm not being left at home because he's having fun! : ) I got home at about 7:00 and did everything I had planned and fell asleep around 9:00. I remember Steve coming home, but I have no idea if I made send when I talked to him. Somehow I think he gets a kick out of hearing me not make sense. Who can blame him, though, right?
Do you remember when I told you I was crocheting a poncho like Martha Stewart had? Well, I got done with the main part of it, and it is HUGE. It's less like a poncho and more like something from Chattanooga Tent & Awning. Apparently, I made it using the "plus-size" pattern. Oops. Now, I'm not a little skinny thing, and I'm not unfamilliar with plus size clothing, but I don't think their idea of plus size and my idea of plus size are the same. No wonder it took 10 rolls of yarn! At any rate, I'm not too disappointed. Even if it looks like I made a "Kelly Cozy" rather than a cover-up, it's still nice and soft and snuggly. If nothing else, it'll be a nice blanket I can wear around the house. Now I just have to make some slippers to even it all out!
Wow, I'm boring myself. I'm going to go! : )

I'm so tired. Literally so tired I almost can't function, but I've got too much to do to take a nap. Besides, my boss frowns on me sleeping while on the clock. : ) It might be because I didn't sleep well last night. I had this nightmare that I had a baby and when I brought it home, I just put it in a drawer and forgot about it. Several (dream) days later, I remembered it and panicked because I hadn't fed it! When I went looking for it, I couldn't find it. I had to wake up and remind myself that A) I don't have a child, in a drawer or otherwise B) I don't have anything with drawers to put it in C) The baby would have cried if it was hungry, helping me to remember it was there. At any rate, I woke up feeling like I didn't sleep at all. The only chocolate I had anytime close to when I went to bed was a frosty from Wendy's, but that was way earlier. I suppose it still could have caused it. Ick.
Being back to work has kept me busy. Everyone seems to have waited until monday to tell me about stuff that they needed IMMEDIATELY. I mean, there were people here who could have done some of it while I was gone, if they needed it that quickly, but everyone seems to be on some kind of schedule that requires me to do what they want RIGHT NOW!!! It's like I'm working for a whole bunch of Varuca Salt clones. My favorite order came from a lady in Marketing. She needs 52 signs by the end of next week. I can do it, but I wish I had known about it on Monday rather than yesterday. It's a good thing I like my job!
Steve has been so busy lately that we haven't had a chance to go to the gym. I could go alone, I guess, but our gym isn't exactly in the nicest part of town, so I'm too scared to go alone. Hopefully we can start back next week.
Steve and I plan on going back to see his mom tonight if nothing happens. If I don't feel any better, I don't think I should go. If I have caught something rather than just interrupted sleep, I don't want to give it to her. She's already been sick as well as recovering from her surgery, and the last thing I want to do is give her something else to keep her there longer. I talked to Mr. Lee last night and she says that she's slowly but surely getting better, but that she may still have to have a feeding tube when she comes home. I think he's worried that he won't be able to take care of her, but I think he'll do fine. They will have nurses to come and help, and they will teach him what he needs to do. I just wish she'd get better soon. She's been sick for so long.
Well, I need to get back to work. Enough of this time wasting. It's such a beautiful day though, I may have to go out on the roof for a while. I love the spring! I just wish that it wasn't indicating that it's about to get hot again. Boo!

Urg. I'm glad that I finished my soup.
I just randomly followed a link called WeirdMeat.com, which is, of course, a blog about some guy who travels around trying different kinds of weird meat. I'm all about trying new things, but good Lord. I got down to the duck embryos before I almost yarked on my keyboard. See how far you can go.
I guess it's about time for my WEEKEND UPDATE!
Friday was my last week day of freedom before returning to work. I was going to take full advantage of it, but I had errands. I did, however, have one of my random organized days, so I took care of all of them quickly and efficently. I probably won't have another one of those days any time soon! I just sat around the rest of the day. Steve was off with some friends helping them do some work. I'd like to say I acomplished something, but I don't think I did! My memory is kind of bad! : ) At about 2:00 am, after fighting sleep and crocheting, I was just about to go to bed when I became enraptured by Iron Chef. I don't normally watch that show, but it was amazing. I didn't get to sleep until about 3:45 am.
Saturday was more interesting. Josh and I spent the day together. He had gotten his new furniture in and wanted to show it off. Unfortunately for him, I was the only one available to come and see it. We had a nice time, though. We went to some thrift stores to look for interesting stuff for his house, we went to the bookstore, and he made lasagna for dinner while we watched movies. We said Grease 2, which is such a bad train wreck that you can't help but watch it and sing along, Skeleton Key, which is a pretty good horror movie...very creepy, and PCU, which I had seen before but Josh hadn't. I like that movie, but it is VERY early 90s. Droz, who should've been
very cool, is getting less cool and more annoying as time goes on. I guess we've all known people who think that they are so world wise that they can give long speaches and everyone is so bowled over by their insight, but I think I'd have to tell this guy to blow it out his ear. I do still like Gutter, though, and George Clinton is always cool.
Sunday, Steve and I went down to Birmingham to visit his mom who is STILL in the hospital. She seemed really out of it, but Mr. Lee was glad to have some company! Steve and he went to lunch while I stayed with Rhonda. She mosstly slept while I worked on my crochet project. I know they aren't trendy anymore, but I am making myself a poncho like the one Martha Stewart wore when she got out of prison. I say, if it's good enough for Martha, it's good enough for me! The main difference is that her poncho was gray and mine is this bright-bright-bright multicolored puffy yarn thing. I love it. I was concerned that I looked a little to pumpkinish, since the yarn looked predominantly orange to me, but when I asked Steve he said that I didn't look like a pumpkin, but like "A strawberry....no wait, a bowl of salsa!" Wow. I look like salsa. I'm not sure how to take that! : ) We left late in the afternoon and came home to do some stuff for Ms. Rhonda & Mr. Lee's and then we came home.
Monday (which isn't a weekend day, but I'm updating you anyway!) was busy. I had school, work, school again, work again, and then I went home! : ) I made a 75 on my history exam because I missed every single one of the fill-in-the-blank questions! I felt like such a reject. However, she did write on my exam and tell me that my essay questions were well thought out, so I guess I didn't do as badly as I thought! When I got home, I was puttering about when I walked past the house-to-garage door and heard water running. I knew for a fact that I hadn't started the washer or used the sink out there, so I got nervous. I opened the door and I could hear the water, but not see it. I was confused. So I walked over to the water heater and it was POURING water out of the overflow pipe. I immediately thought that I had done something, but since I hadn't used hot water since I came home, I couldn't think of what it could have been. I had to call Steve and interrupt him at work to ask how to turn it off. It wasn't until this morning that I remembered that the utility company was upping the water pressure in the neighborhood and apparently our heater couldn't take it. I had at least one good chance to make a "She can't take the pressure, Captain" joke, but Steve wasn't amused. I swear, by sense of humor is waisted on him sometimes!
: ) Well, we got that taken care of, so I can take a real shower tomorrow morning! Yay!
