Speak of the devil, and he shall appear...

So guess who called me a couple of hours after my post? Yep, the bride-to-be. I am officially a horrible person. Apparently she was in the process of moving and had been so busy that she hadn't had a chance to call me and let me know why she hadn't picked up her invitations. That is also why her phone was disconnected. She was moving. Her fiance is picking the invitations up this afternoon.

You know, I wonder when people will start to realize I'm more important that anything else in their lives? Hmmm? ; )

I got some exciting news from a friend of mine. Apparently his girlfriend, whom I don't know but I'm excited for anyways, was nominated for an Emmy award! She works for a news station and her promo was nominated! I think that's great! Now he gets to go to the regional awards ceremony. Let's hope she wins! I've never known anyone who was dating an Emmy winner! To answer the question I'm sure is going through your head, yes, my life is so boring that I must live vicariously through other people's lives. People I don't even know. If I knew when the ceremony was, I'd wear my new Wilma Flintstone dress and wait around the house until I heard if she won or not. : ) Wait, don't get scared. I'm kidding. I'd buy a new dress for that...

This antibiotic is killing me. I keep getting hot flashes and dizziness. I wish I could go home and get comfotable and sit under an air conditioning vent. I'd do it here, but it's against the dress code rules to be comfortable.

Anyways, that's it for now. Ciao.
Yay! I fixed my computer so I can write in my blog at my desk. Apparently I accidentaly blocked cookies from blogger.com and that's why it wouldn't load when I'd come to the site. I finally figured out how to unblock them! Go me!

Some of the techno-weenie has finally rubbed off on me.

I rule.

Anyways. Yesterday I went to the doc and found out I have a sinus infection. I didn't think it was all that bad, but now I'm on antibiotics and various other types of things. Well, I will be as soon as I go to the pharmacy and get them. This is why I'm temporarily narcoleptic, apparently. I hate sinus infections, but I seem to get one every year. I guess I'm just too delicate. heh...

I embarrassed myself SO BAD yesterday. While I was sitting in the exam room, I kept trying to pull these strings out of the front of my shirt that I noticed sticking out. The one I had on had some embroidery around the neck, and it looked like it was falling apart. I also kept getting tickled on the arm by this funny little tag sticking out of the side seam. After leaving the office, I had a little time to kill, so I went to a shop to walk around and after I had been there for quite a while I realized that my flippin' shirt was on inside out and it had been since I left the house. It had to be obvious to everyone who saw me, but no one said anything! I was finally able to fix my shirt, but the embarrasment remained. This totally explained why I kept getting funny looks. There are just not enough rocks to crawl under when you're in public, you know?

I'm so ticked. Granted, I know that there are plenty of explainations that are possible, but right now I don't think I'd accept any of them. The wedding invitations that I made have still not been picked up. I tried calling the girl, but the only phone number she gave me has been disconnected. Now, I can understand a lot of things if they are brought to me and explained. I, however, can not understand being left with 100 invitations and 50 programs (all under charged for, and completely useless to me or anyone else) and an unpaid bill, with no word from anyone. I had counted on the money I was supposed to get to cover some checks I wrote (which is my fault totally, and I'll admit to it. It doesn't make me any less aggravated, though) and now I'm pretty much boned. Grrrr.

SIGH.

Last night while shopping, I found a great deal on a pretty black dress. $15 dollars for what used to be over $100, and it will serve for any other need-to-dress-up emergencies that might arise this summer. It's a little different than my usual style because it's short and has the one-shoulder thing going on. I thought it looked good, so I went to model it for Steve.

His words: "You look like Wilma Flintstone."

Now, if you will excuse me, I will be setting some 3 1/2 inch Star Wars figurines on fire. Burn, Han Solo, burn.

An Accurate Description of Medicine Throughout the Years (stolen from Blossom Farms website).

2000 B.C.- Here, eat this root.
1000 A.D.- That root is heathen. Here, say this prayer.
1850 A.D.- That prayer is superstitious. Here, drink this potion.
1940 A.D.- That potion is snake-oil. Here, take this pill.
1985 A.D.- That pill is ineffective. Here, take this antibiotic.
2000 A.D.- That antibiotic is unneccesary. Here, eat this root.

Yeah, I can see this...
Well, I had a lovely weekend!

Friday was, of course, the wedding reception. You can read all about that down below. What I didn't mention about that night was that Steve and I went to see The Hithchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Since I had never managed to read the books, I wasn't at all disappointed. In fact, I really enjoyed the movie as well as had a few mysteries cleared up for me. I now understand "Goodbye and thanks for all the fish", "42" and the whole babelfish thing. All in all, I liked it. I laughed pretty loud in a couple of places though. I hope I didn't disturb the HGG geek-nerds who were in there with us. I haven't seen such devotion since the Star Wars prequals started.

Saturday I had to work, but it wasn't too bad. I was training a new agent, Reina, who is very cool. We have a lot in common, so we talked for quite a while in between calls. After that I got to have lunch with my-favorite-Kenny-in-the-world and his mom, Bonita, who is a very hip lady. I don't know about them, but I had a ball. We ate at Cracker Barrel and goofed around and took photos. I wish we had more time, but they had family stuff to do. : ( Later that evening, Steve and I went to his parent's house and had a cookout and watched The Incredibles. We went ahead and gave Rhonda her Mother's Day gift, which was a canvas bag with pictures of Butler and Bear ironed on it and the words "Ask me about my Grand-Dogs!" She loved it.

Sunday we went to church and went to my parent's house for lunch. We gave mom her gift, two little blue and white china birds and a china snail. She thought they were cute. We also tried shooting the kids BB guns, and it turns out that I'm still not a good shot. However, my sister shot my dad by accident, so at least I can say I didn't shoot anyone. Once we got home, I was feeling kind of sick because of my allergies (darn the pollen!) so I slept and laid about while Steve went to church. I am a heathen, I guess. I met back up with him after church and had dinner with everyone. I was still sick, so I kind of wish I hadn't, but it was good to see everyone. After that I watched the first half of the Elvis mini-series and went to bed. It was an all around good time. What did you do?

Saturday, May 07, 2005

So we went to the reception last night. I thought I looked very good, but I was completely under-dressed. Yeah, that was uncomfortable. I, of course, didn't know a soul, and so we hung out at the table with some people Steve works with. We did get to eat some rightous party food, though. You all know how much I like food I can eat off of a toothpick! : ) There was a 5 piece brass band that played jazz and big band music - except for when they inexplicably started playing Stairway To Heaven. I was tempted to fins a lighter and yell out FREE BIRD! However, I didn't. Steve would have never recovered.

GAH!

I'm so unfashionable.

I used to think it was beacause I wasn't the stick person that designers seem to create things for, but I found out that it's just that I have no idea what is stylish and what isn't. For those who know me, you know I'm a jeans kind of person. If I go out, I'm in jeans. My tops vary wildly, but in general I'm very casual. Since the onset of the yoga pants era, I've been even more so. I mean, I am married, I should be allowed to be sloppy, right? Heeheehee. At any rate, the reason I'm basically swallowing my own tounge over this is because Steve and I were invited to a wedding reception at the Botanical Gardens in one of those frou-frou, we have more moeny than God, after 7:00pm, Steve-has-to-wear-a-tie kind of things. Well, goodie for Steve, but what do I wear? I begged him to ask the lady who invited us, but she hasn't been available. So he asks another lady who tells him she is going to wear palazzo (?) pants and a beaded jacket. And this helps me, how? With very few exceptions, I do not wear a beaded anything anywhere that I can't win a tiara and a scholarship. I'm sure as heck not going to wear palazzo pants! I've asked around, but the answers are all different. Cocktail dress, simple black dress, sunday dress, black pants. I've consulted the internet and all I found were things that cost more than a semester in college or looked like a Mormon sunday school teacher exploded on the poor model! I've even done the unthinkable and looked in my own closet to see if there was anything useful (and if it tells you anything, apparently Steve doesn't think a black and purple velvet vampire gown is appropriate for a spring reception. Darn it!)

Someone call those gay guys from Bravo...I need some serious help.

Ooooh, what about this?

Well, it isn't black... ; ) I mean, yeah, it's a Star Trek uniform, but it's not black!

Also proving my point...look at the hair. SHE BANGS, SHE BANGS!

SIGH

So I make my friend- who does indeed not read my blog (see below. Oh and by the way, I'm sorry I got so many of you paraniod that I was talking about you in that entry. I don't know whether to think it's funny or wonder at how many of you think you're ignoring me!)- by telling him the truth. Granted, I suppose I could have been nicer about it, but he made me mad and as you all know, I can't keep my mouth shut when I'm mad. I feel bad about making him angry now, but I didn't at the time. Maybe honesty isn't always the best policy!

I finally finished all of the projects that I had to do last week. That is a huge weight off of my shoulders. I finally bought the ribbon I needed and finished the gosh-darned wedding invitations. I asked the bride to come and pick them up today, but it doesn't look like she's going to show up! I know brides are busy right before their weddings, but I will hunt her down like a dog if I have to.

We had Logan and Angie's birthday dinners at mom and dad's yesterday. Logan asked for crab legs (gag) and all she could find to buy were the king crab legs. They were huge!!!! I picked up the end of one to look at the shell and found out that crabs have fur!!!!! It was gross and fascinating at the same time. Steve said that it was to help them climb on stuff, like a spoider has little furs on it's feet. That kind of grossed me out more. So, now I've got this vision of giant crab spiders with furry feet hanging around in the corners of my home just waiting to eat my face. Darn the seafood and it's resemblance to arachnids. I"m guessing that crabs and spiders are probably related somehow. I don't see how Steve can eat them if they are. Blech.

STATUS REPORT

One pretty darn good self-promotional website completed and turned in for final project. It actually turned out better than I thought it was going to no matter how much my teacher thinks I should have more "Type Play". I also learned how to do some nifty stuff with Flash in the process. Go me!

12 intaglio prints of Key Largo done and turned in. 7 of them trial proofs and 1 edition of 5 identical ones. They didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but I am just not that skilled with intaglio. If I had more time to devote, I think I'd become rather talented at it. Anyone want to buy me a $3,000 press and UV exposire unit? Anyone?

One hundred handmade wedding invitations completed (well, almost). I got down to the last 25 and ran out of ribbon, but I'm heading out to get the rest of it today! Here is what they look like - although please understand they are much nicer in person -

The invitation is actually navy blue rather than purple, but I had a little trouble with the color settings when I scanned it.

I have not cleaned the house yet. I've made a couple of half hearted tries, but I kept getting distracted with school stuff. In fact, the house seemed to get messier and messier as I was in the process of doing all of this. Today, however, I am going to clean! I don't know what will actually get acomplished, exactly, but I am determined to at least see the floor in one room by the end of today!

I have taken some new pictures that I eventually want to put up on my website. Speaking of, the redesign on that is going SLOW. Maybe this summer I can have it completed. I've got all of these really great ideas, but I haven't been able to implement them. SIGH.

Yesterday I used the remainder of the gift card that dearest husband got me from Williams-Sanoma. I got a very cool muffin pan that makes the muffins or cupcakes, or whatever, in the shapes of roses. Hmmm, maybe that's a little dorky to everyone else. Anyways, I thought that it would be a cute idea to make red velvet cake in them. I just recently found out that I'm good at making red velvet cake. However, I need to learn how to store it away. Steve was eating the last piece and after the first bite found mold on it. Yeah, needed to put that in the fridge. Sorry, Steve!

I have very recently had the feeling that a friend of mine has become utterly and completely tired of me. I don't exactly know if I did anything to cause this, but I suppose I must have. I'd like to apologize if it is something I CAN apologize about, but if it is just about me being me, I guess I'm kinda screwed. At any rate, friend-who-probably-doesn't-even-read-this-but-on-the-off-chance-may-be-reading-this-and-will-know-who-you-are, be nice enough to tell me if this is true and give me a little closure. I'd rather know that we are no longer friends than to sit about waiting to hear from you and not, or finding out later that you only stayed around because it made you feel too bad to just tell me that you were tired of me and have you complain about me to other people. I neither need nor want that. Thanks!

I went to the new Starbucks last night. I was underwhelmed. I mean, it was fine as far as coffee shops go and it had a fine selection of all things coffee and tea, but I guess I was just expecting more. However, I will go back! If nothing else, the smell of the coffee alone is worth going in. I think I might also adopt that angsty art student facade and wear black and sit in the corner with my copy of On the Road. However, finding angst and a copy of On the Road, may be more trouble than it's actually worth! : )

I'm sure all of this was riveting, but I'm going to leave it at that. Ciao!

Yeah, I'm still here. Could someone please tell me why I can't sleep? You'd think I would have left a while ago to go play Sims 2 University, right? I mean, I told you that's where I was going and all, so it makes perfect sense.

However, my rear never even left the chair because I suddenly remembered a very punny conversation I had once that had been posted on my friend, Kenny Smith's, blog, so I went on a mission to find it. I spent a friggin' hour or more reading/scanning every blog entry that dude had recorded since he started his page in 2003. I couldn't remember when we had this converstaion. I don't know why it was important to find that. Oh and I also felt the need to find a part in there where he quoted part of a book, which in turn reminded me to find out when it was we had dinner last year in Cullman where we got in trouble at a bookstore for being raucous. It took a while, but I finally found them, but in the process I noticed that my friend writes A LOT. This isn't a bad thing, because he's entertaining. He talks about his friends, his job, politics and and also an unusual amount of time talking about his lawn care routine. I also realized how much of a life he has and how little of one I have! I mean, I just spent an hour and change reading about all he has done trying to find myself in all of that. (Isn't it weird how people you always think of as being a part of everyday really aren't? Not that I don't think of him or read his website every day, but I guess part of me always thinks he is next door or something and it's a lesson in perpectives that left me pretty shocked.) Anyways, thank you, Kenny's Blog, for helping me to realize I need to get a life interesting enough to write enormous amounts of stuff about, and people to fill it with.

Oh, wait, it's 1:00 a.m. It's too early in the morning to get a life.

Monday, April 25, 2005

Well, here I am! I know you were probably missing me! Heh. Actually, I'm still having trouble with Blogger.com at work, so I haven't been able to post anything while I was thinking about it lately. So I decided to just ramble while I'm at home. It will make you feel less cheated if you're reading this.

Speaking of not posting. I'm going to have to go into a self imposed exile for the next few days due to overburdening myself with projects and what not. Luckily, I finished the final intaglio print that I had due (and not without turning yet another part of myself black for a couple of days), and I also finally finished the wedding programs for my friend Tasha. They turned out decent, if I do say so. The invitations are going to be a little more tricky to finish. They have three layers and a bow, and it takes forever to get everything cut out and tied together. They look nice, though. I've still got 60 left to cut out and put together. I'm glad I'm getting paid for this. I've also got to design a promotional website for myself as if I were presenting it to a potential employer (Dang that was a lot of Ps), and I've got the basic design down, but I still have to do all of the referencing and stuff as well as building two flash animations to insert in there. Didn't know I could do that...huh? : )

I've been having this horrible recurring nightmare that I am packing boxes and having to move out of places. When I ask to stay, the people just tell me to leave because they don't need me anymore. When I look down into my boxes, they are full of weird stuff like the kind of stuff you keep in scrapbooks. Pictures and stuff like that. Then they push me out the door and I can hear them having a party on the other side of the door, but they won't let me back in! It's very frustrating! I think I'm going to learn lucid dreaming and beat someone up. : ) It might not get me invited to the party, but at least no one else will have a good time! Heeheehee.

I need a few prayers, if you don't mind please. I applied for a job in our graphics department today. It's basically the same job I applied for last year. The girl who got that job left a week ago. I would really like to have the job, but I'm nervous about it. I mean, I know it would be great if I was able to finally work in the field I'm training for, entry level or not, but getting the job is not the biggest thing I'm worried about. I mean, I may get it, I may not. That is up to God. What I'm worried about is if I don't get it, will I feel as bad as I did last year. I mean, it really upset me and I don't want to have to feel like that again. I need prayers that I can handle rejection with grace and ease. If it's not God's will for me to have it, I want to be able to accept that and go about my business with little to no discomfort. In fact, I'd like to not even think about it until I have to, but as it is when you want something, it's always lurking around in the brain. I also would ask for prayers that if I DO get the job, I will do my best and make them glad they chose me. I need to fix my portfolio and get it ready. Even if I don't get the position, I want to go into the interview as prepared and professional as possible. I might even wear a skirt. I'm a wild woman! : )

Wow, this is a long entry. It's 11:27 p.m. and I can't sleep. Ah to sleep, perchance to blog. heh.

Steve's Blackberry thingie just scared me half to death. Every time he gets an e-mail, it sings the Mah-na Mah-na song by the Muppets. You're probably familiar with the song from the diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper commericals where the dude in the resturaunt starts singing. Anywho, I had to jump up and slam it into the little magnetic pouch that turns the sound off. One thing I DON'T need is to be scared to death by Muppets.

I think I'm about to go in there and waste some time playing Sims 2 University. So far I haven't graduated anyone I've sent to college, but I've killed a great number of people. Now that I've been using the programmers cheat codes, it's a lot more fun to play. You can kill people, aliens can get them pregnant (men or women, believe it or not), they gan get older or live forever, and you never have to make them go to the bathroom if you don't want to! If only life were that easy!

Well, ta for now. Once I am back in a less hectic pace, I will be back. Hopefully I can figure out what is wrong with my blogger at work so I can write stuff while I'm thinking about it. Yeah, I know, whoop-de-freakin-do.

Holler!

Tuesday, April 19, 2005

OK, so I'm home between classes and watching one of the movie channels during lunch. There have been two Jennifer Love Hewett movies in a row.

Isn't this one of the biblical signs of the apocolypse?
Speaking of dreams...

Last night I was having a weird dream, but I'm not going in to the whole thing. Somewhere in this long, drawn out dream I overhear someone talking and I woke up all cracked up from what they said.

I was dreaming of being in a college in the Science department. I overheard some people talking and one guy says "There was an old lady who accidentally grabbed a packet of SeaMonkeys instead of sugar and poured them over her cereal (which makes perfect sense because I keep my Seamonkeys with the Splenda too, but I digress.) In thirty days she looked great and she was very healthy. Apparently SeaMonkeys are a frickin' fountain of youth! Now SeaMonkeys are being traded like smack out on the streets."

Where does my brain come up with this stuff?

Monday, April 18, 2005

Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight I address you from the yella room where we have been sleeping due to the laundry on our real bed. How am I writing to you from there, you may ask? Well, Steve has installed a wireless network, Woo-Hoo! As I told a friend of mine, I can now jump on the internet from the couch, the bathtub or even the closet if I want to! It's very cool. However, I believe it will not be conducive to activeness. I'm going to grow into the fabric of the couch. : )

I wanted to post earlier today, but for some reason I have been haaving trouble with blogger.com from work. It keeps asking me to log in, but won't let me in the program once I sign in. Weird. I actually had something interesting to say, and of course I can't remember any of it now. Oh well.

I rented the movie "The Grudge" tonight and it was so stupid. I had heard it might be, but I wanted to see for myself. Some advice, just wait for it to go into the $1 bin somewhere before you bother watching it. Pah!

I saw this pretty good looking guy on TV the other night. I was just thinking how cute he was when the first thing out of his mouth was "I have genital herpes." That little infatuation was over quick. Can you please tell me why Vioxx or whatever has to be advertised on TV? I mean, eeeeeesh. Gross. I don't want to know about stuff like that! That poor actor. Under his "former expirence" on his resume it will have to mention the herpes commercial. How embarassing.

I had a very strange dream the other night about a guy I dated a while ago. His name is Andrew, and he has been on my mind a lot lately because he had joined the Marines after he graduated high school. I guess I've been worried about him because I don't know if he is still in the Marines and if he had to go overseas or not and I'm just hoping he is okay. Anyways. I haven't really even spoken to him since 1997 or so, but as I said, I've worried about him because of the war and I don't have any clue how to get in contact with anyone who might know him. In my dream, I saw him again and he gave me this huge book that would tell me everything I wanted to know. Just as I was opening it up, I woke up! I was so mad! I love to dream, but I hate when stuff like that happens.

Well, I need to stop writing now. I'm about to fall asleep and the laptop is getting hot! Ciao!

I saw the most disturbing movie last night called The Hole.

*Warning-I am going to give away the end here. Just FYI*

I've seen a lot of horror movies in my time and rarely have any of them bothered me like this one. I don't even think you can rightfully call it a horror movie, but it scared me a lot. We came in sometime after the beginning, so I didn't really know what was going on at first. It's a non linear story told mostly in flasbacks by a girl who had obviously survived a very bad situation where she had been trapped with three of her friends in an old war bunker for days without food and water. She's telling a psychiatrist about what happened and we see her story play out. This bunker was a place discovered by a boy at school that was out in the woods and no one else knew about it. These 4 friends decided that they wanted to camp out down there during a school vacation, and thought it would be fun to be locked in. The boy locked them in and said he'd be back in three days. Well, they have their party and the three days pass, and the boy doesn't come back. They start freaking out and after a couple of days they begin to starve to death. They try everything they can think of to get out, and they realize that this boy is leaving them down there on purpose and they find microphones down there that are recording their conversations. So they pretend that they are fighting and that one girl is sick so that the boy will hear them, and the next day the door is opened and they get out. However, after we get back to the present, the psychiatrist looks confused and you can tell she's pretty much humoring the girl and we find out that the other three kids are actually dead. As the movie goes on, we see the psychiatrist working with the police to find out what really happened. They arrest the boy who had the key, and he tells a similar story and we see it play out, but his story is that he had given the key to the girl who survived and she could have gotten out at any time. They don't believe him because she had been so sick and starved when she was found and they knew she would have let them out if she could have. Well, then we see the girl who survived again and she takes the psychiatrist down into the place she had been trapped and tells her the real story, and we see her real memories, which are not the ones she told earlier. Apparently she was in love with this boy who never paid attention to her. She (Elizabeth) talked her friend Francis into asking her boyfriend to go along with them to this bunker for the vacation and ask the boy Elizabeth liked to go along so that they could hook up. This doesn't work, and it turns out that the boy likes Francis instead. After two days, the boy decides he doesn't want to stay there any more and he wants to leave. Elizabeth gets upset and says that she's leaving too, but when she gets to the door, she locks it and hides the key. They believe the door is jammed shut. After the others panic (and she pretends to) they realize they are just going to have to survive until someone comes looking for them or the boy who knew they were there tells someone. That doesn't happen. Elizabeth never tells them she has the key and they slowly start to starve to death. Her main purpose in all of this is to sleep with the boy she likes and figures to herself that if he can't get away, it will eventually happen. Just when it is about to, the other boy runs in and says that Francis is sick from the dirty water they drank and can't stop throwing up. At this point you know that Elizabeth is a sociopath because her friend is really sick and she doesn't let her out. That night Francis dies of a hemorrage brought on by throwing up so much. A day or so later, Elizabeth has a flash of concious and starts to tell the others that she has the key, but when one boy finds out that the other had been hoarding drinks, he kills him with his bare hands and that leaves Elizabeth with the boy she likes and he gets that "I'm about to die so why not" attitude. Afterwards, she opens the door. When he finds out what she did, he tries to climb the ladder and kill her, but it breaks and he falls and is killed. She just locks the door behind her. After telling the psychiatrist all of this, the woman is shocked and wants her to tell the police. Elizabeth won't because she didn't want to get in trouble for what she saw as a series of accidents and not her fault. Well, as the psychiatrist is trying to convince her to tell she starts screaming and the police at the crime scene come running and the girl is taken out of the room. The police tell he psychiatrist that the case is over, they have proof the boy that locked them in was guilty. Apparenly (you see in a flash back) he had gone to see Elizabeth and ask why she framed him for all of this and she tells him that she knew he couldn't be proved guilty and she didn't want to get in trouble. He's upset and she bends down to comfort him, and she sticks the key in his pocket and she knocks him over the side of the bridge they were standing on. So they find his body and the key in his pocket, so they believe he comitted suicide out of remorse. At the end you see Elizabeth smile, so you know she planned it that way. Elizabeth gets away with everything because the psychiatrist can't tell what her patient said! It was crazy! Maybe it bothered me because I'm claustrophobic or whatever, but my skin has been crawling ever since.
Sorry for the lengthy review, but yuck, I had to get it out of my head!

I can now commiserate with anyone who has ever tried to dress an angry two year old. This morning I had to take Bear back to the vet to get his stitches out. As soon as he saw me coming with the harness he went nuts. I chased him around the room, tried asking nicely for him to stand still, and I even tried the trick of putting my hands through the leg holes and pulling his legs through that way. When I finally got his legs through, he rolled over on his back so I couldn't fasten it!!! I had to wrestle him down to get it on. Then he jumped on the car, scratching the paint, and while we were driving he tried to stand in my lap! By the time we got to the vet, we were late, he and his lead were wrapped around my legs, and I had a sore spot on my face where he punched me while we were in the car (yes, he PUNCHED me!). He wouldn't sit still for the vet to clip off the stitches, so they had to take him in the back and strap him to the table. While he was back there they found another gross bite mark on his chest that we couldn't see because of his fur. We have to start giving him antibiotics again and put the stinging medicine that he hates on it!!! They didn't even try to stitch it up. Oy vey. The vet thinks he's the worst acting dog, I just know it. He was only scared though. I"m going to have to resort to drugging my dogs whenever I take them in from now on.
How do mothers do it? Geez, these are just dogs for the love of Pete!

Well, I guess this is better than the chocolate crosses they have at Easter. What's next, Beanie Apostles?

RANDOM THOUGHTS OF THE DAY

1. When did I get old? Well, I know I'm not "old", but last night at dinner, a family that used to go to my church was at the same resturaunt we went to. I taught one of their daughters at church and she was 5. She is now in the 5th grade and taller than me. Her sister, who I also remember as being very young, is graduating this year. If you'll excuse me, I'll be in the den with a 6 pack of Ensure and a Matlock marathon.
2. I saw the movie Sahara this weekend. It was SO GOOD!!!!!! Matthew McConehey(?) is a great Indiana Jones kind of character, not to mention he is gorgeous! Two thumbs up, a fine family film. : )
3. For some reason I've been thinking about a friend of mine that I haven't seen in several years. His name is Micheal and we used to hang out all the time, but we stopped seeing each other as much when I met Steve. I feel bad about that now. I always hated that when people would do it to me. At any rate, I don't know why he's been on my mind so much. Maybe that means I'll see him somewhere soon.
4. I want ice cream. I want ice cream NOW!
5. I have to go to school tonight *que video clip of me writhing on the floor having a hysterical tantrum* and I don't want to.
6. I'm skipping the honors day convocation tomorrow to wait for the bug man. We have ants. I've seen all manner of vermin in our house, but never ants. They must be destroyed immediately. If for no other reason than ever since I saw them, I feel like they are in my hair. They aren't, though. Just thought I'd throw that in.
7. I still want ice cream. Ooooh, and chocolate milk. No, I'm not pregnant.
8. Don't shop at the Micheal's art supply store on Univerity Drive. They mis-label prices and have bad customer service skills.

That is all for now!

PHI KAPPA PHI!!

Woo-Hoo!

No, it's not a sorority, it's the honor's program at UAH! I'm finally a member!!! Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to update my resume!

I am so freaking tired. I don't know if it's the time change, or if it's the end-of-semester push, but I feel like I haven't slept in days.
I've kind if got the blues today too. Not a serious case of them, thank goodness, but just enough to delicately color the day. Why? I don't really know the core of it. Part of it is just being tired, part of it is watching things pass away. Things that you'd come to rely on and hoped would always be there. Hey, it happens. Knowing that doesn't make it any better, but at least it's not coming out of nowhere and hopefully I'll just get numb enough to not care.
We took Butler to the vet on thursday so he could get his shots, and he had his new harness on. It looked funny and kept falling down, but I thought it was because I bought one too big. When the vet brought him back, his harness was on differently, and it looked as if it fit better. Apparently I had put it on him sideways. I'm pretty sure the vet was laughing at me. She probably thinks that if I'm the kind of person who can't get a harness on right, I probably couldn't put a bathing suit top on right either.
A breif spark in an otherwise blah day...a friend of mine is getting married and asked me to design her invitations and program. She didn't know what she wanted except for in the most general of terms, so I've got free reign. How cool is that? I went out and looked at different kinds of paper after work and then went to get groceries. I didn't get home until almost 9:00 and I still have to eat and work on that stupid website. I took a minute to sit down and read a couple of my must-read websites that I didn't get to see today and write in my own blog.
Now I'm off to eat. Ciao.

I wasn't going to say anything about Terri Schavio. Partly because I wasn't sure how I felt about the whole situation and partly because I felt people were talking about it enough. However, I will say a couple of things that are on my mind about it.
I'm of three minds about the whole thing. Mind number 1 thinks that what that poor lady went through is horrible. She wasn't on a respirator or a heart machine, she was simply being fed through a tube. Lots of people are fed through tubes. Starving her to death seems so cruel and inhumane. It was like starving a baby, just someone who couldn't feed herself. I have a severely handicapped brother who can't do anything for himself, and part of me felt like it would be like my parents sitting him outside and saying that it was for the best. Mind number 2 says that her husband probably knew better than anyone what she wanted. Maybe it was a conversation they had that she never had with her parents. Maybe she didn't like talking about life and death with her parents, who knows? People like to demonize her husband because after the doctors told him she wouldn't get better, he moved on. Granted, it WAS tacky to get engaged and have kids while she was still alive, but I have to say that I don't blame him. As much as I would love to think that Steve would mourn me and never look at another woman for the rest of his life, I know it isn't likely. Could he have divorced his wife and married the other lady? Sure. Why didn't he? I don't know. That's just it, though, no one knows why he's done what he's done. It's all speculation and wonder. Is he a bad man? I don't think so. I'd have to have more proof than I've gotten so far that he was doing any of this to be cruel.
Mind number 3 (and this is the one I'm beginning to think is right about it) tells me that this stopped being about Terri a LONG time ago. This was a pissing contest (sorry, Rhonda) between two families who wanted the power over someone's life. Could her husband have divorced her and given her life over to her parents? Yes. He would have been free and clear to do whatever he wanted after that. He had already received the million dollar malpractice settlement, so what made him stay? Her parents, even though I feel so bad for them, HAD to know that she wasn't going to get better. She was in that state for 15 years, it was kind of obvious she wasn't going to get any better. Although I know their faith was strong, but I believe they didn't comply with her wishes because they didn't want to and that is that. Do they love her? No doubt, but did they take into consideration that she didn't want to be a burden to them or anyone else? That she didn't want to BE like that? No. Keeping her alive against her wishes is just as wrong as taking her off the machines, IMHO.
All that being said, I'm glad it's over. For Terri's sake and no one elses. I'm ashamed of everyone involved. May she FINALLY rest in peace.

YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO RICH OR TOO THIN.

You know, I don't know who originally said that, but I'm pretty sure they were from Palm Beach, Florida. : ) More about that in a bit.

As you may or may not know, last week I accompanied Steve on a buisness trip to West Palm Beach. We left on Monday, flying all the way down there, and I realized that my attitude about flying hasn't changed a bit since high school. I STILL HATE IT!!! I'm sure it wouldn't be so bad if I never had to take another shuttle like the ones that fly from Huntsville to Atlanta. They are basically the equivelent of an airborn Pinto. Tiny, tiny little planes that sound as if they are just waiting to hit cruising altitude before they fall completely to peices. Steve and I weren't originally seated together, but the kind soul who I was seated by switched with Steve. Personally, I think he thought I looked like I might panic and cause a scene, but I will choose to believe that he was just being nice.

Once we landed in Palm Beach, we were handed off to the car rental place and then we ended up at the hotel. We stayed in the Embassy Suites, which in my opinion is one of the nicer kinds of hotels to stay in. Free breakfast and a little tiny living room. Normally, when you have a hotel room it has your typical two twin beds, a nightstand in between, two ugly prints over each bed, and etc. With an Embassy Suite, you get all that PLUS the little living room, a fridge and a microwave. : ) Hey, I'm easy to please. Anyways, Steve had to attend a class from 8 am-4 pm, so I was pretty much on my own. At first I figured I'd truly be lazy and just lie about, read and watch TV. After about an hour of that, I was climbing the walls. It's not that I don't appreciate not doing anything, but there I was in Florida not doing anything. How could I? But I had a problem. I have NEVER been to a strange place and been alone before. Any time I've traveled, I've been with my family or a friend. Please don't pity me, I know 27 is a little old to be on my own for the first time, but I couldn't help it, I was loved and a little overprotected growing up! So there I was, keys to a rental car, and absolutely no nerve. So I had a long talk with myself (don't be alarmed, I do this a lot). I told myself that I would not be a coward, and that I would get in that car, and I would find out what was outside of that hotel room. So I did. I found out that West Palm Gardens is not quite the kind of place I'm used to. Very beautiful, very posh, palmy and stucco-ey. It was also very...fancy. Normally when I go to a beach town, it's overrun with all of those tacky sea-side souvineer shops and neon and whatever. West Palm Beach was all very...how shall I say it...a very "I'm having lunch with Buffy and Trevor at the club at four, but only if they don't spend all afternoon talking about Harvard again" type of place. I felt like I was practically wearing a sign that said "Makes less than $20,000 a year". Now, I know that's not really a fair thing to say, one shouldn't judge people because of how much or how little they earn, but dang. I felt like I needed a credit check just to take a deep breath out there. When I finally got the nerve to drive, I ended up on PGA Blvd, and this is some of what I saw. A mall roughly the size of Athens (Greece, not Alabama). A row of what I first thought were houses, but they turned out to be some extremely lovely offices and shops. A state park, condos - starting at only $795,000 as the signs so helpfully advertised- and finally a little public beach. I was so excited to find the beach, which in my opinion is the only reason to take a vacation in Florida, but I was SO not dressed for it. I had on jeans, but I rolled those suckers up and walked for a while. I was probably only out there for twenty minutes before I realized that I was going to have a heat stroke, but I still got sunburned a little. After leaving there, I just followed the road until I ended up in what I called the "ghetto" which in fact was actually just a less grand area with smaller houses, and after stopping for some sodas I headed back to the hotel. I was starving, so I figured I would just run through a drive through and take something back, but apparently West Palm Beach feels that fast food resturaunts are coarse and vulgar. No wonder everyone in that town is so thin. You couldn't get a Big Mac there for gold or spices! I had to order room service, which I am still embarrassed to do, and pay way too much for what I could have gotten at Burger King for $5. It was a lovely place, but I felt a little out of place. I also went to the giant mall and got to see my very first actual Tiffany & Co. and Bloomingdales. I, of course, couldn't afford anything in either place, but it was nice to be able browse.
The people I saw there fit into three categories, A) Rich, Thin, and Bored B) Rich, Thin and Beautiful or C) Old. I also noticed that there is an alarming trend among the young ladies down there to wear their jeans REALLY low cut. I mean, REALLY-REALLY low cut. As in, any lower and the whole world will be their gynocologist. Eventually they are just going to be wearing the legs of jeans. I felt like Urkel, and my jeans come below my belly button as it is. They also can do some hard core shopping. I saw people walking out of stores with bags upon bags of things. It was an amazing sight.
Steve was done with his class on Thursday, and he decided that he wanted to drive down to Key West. I was a little shocked. We don't normally do stuff like that, so I was all for it. We were only 232 miles away from Key West, so we got up early Friday morning, grabbed a couple of beach towels, and headed down. It should have only taken us about 4 hours to get there, but right before we got to the bridge at Key Largo, we got stopped by road construction for about an hour and a half. By the time we actually got to Key West, we had been on the road for over six hours. We jumped out of the car and went to the bathrooms to change (yuck, but I will not go into that) and we headed out to the beach. As we were lolling (don't you just love to loll?) we realized that we had no clean clothes and no place to get cleaned up. I tried talking Steve into staying overnight so we could at least have a place to take a bath and whatever, but he didn't want to, so we went downtown all nasty and sandy and had a late dinner at a place called the Roof Top Cafe. The people at the resturaunt kind of treated us shabbily in that "Yeah, we'll let you eat here because we don't have a good reason not to, but we aren't going to make any effort to make you feel welcome." However, we just wanted to eat and leave, and we did. We did a little shoping and made our way back to Palm Beach. We were fine until we reached Miami, and then it was like a roller derby. I thought the people in Huntsville didn't know how to drive, but I'd rather stand in the middle of rush hour traffic here than drive on the highway in Miami ever again. Even the cops are rude and bad drivers! I couldn't believe the people driving clearly 90 miles an hour, not putting on their turn signals, cutting people off and generally being dangerous. It was insane. Steve was nervous and I thought I was going to have a stroke. I didn't relax until we parked in the parking garage at the hotel. We were hungry, but as I said before, there was no fast food places to go to and it was late, so we had to have a vending machine dinner. Saturday we had designated as our lazy-go-to-the-beach day, and we did that with gusto. I had been doing so well all week not getting fried by the sun, but Saturday I left the sunblock on the table of our suite, so I got sunburned pretty bad. It wasn't as bad as I've been burned before, but it itches like crazy. Sunday we had to get back on the planes and come home. I hated to leave Florida, but I was glad to see my dogs and come home.

Notes of Interest.

~I embarrassed myself fairly badly at the beach on Wednesday, even though I didn't know it until Thursday. I got there on Wednesday fairly early in the day and staked out my lounging spot. I hadn't put on my bathing suit, but I had it with me, so I decided to just slide the top of it on under my shirt and then pull my shirt off. (Don't worry, there is no naked element to this.) Anyways, after I got the top on I realized that something was wrong with it, but I wasn't too concerned. Anyways, I hung out for a while, but didn't want to get too much sun too fast so I got my stuff together to leave. On my way out, I realize the lifeguards are checking me out, and I started feeling pretty cute as I walked past (don't judge me!). Anyways, it wasn't until Thursday that I realize that I had embarrassed myself. I'm in the changing area to go back to the beach, and I'm in the process of putting my suit top on and I realize that the lifeguards weren't checking me out the day before because I looked cute, they were looking at me because I had my top on upside down!!!!!!! Ugh. In my hurry to pull the stupid top on under my shirt, I had gotten the part that hooked around my neck and the part that hooked around my back confused. Oy vey...all I can hope was that there were new lifeguards there on thursday.

~Steve doesn't know the difference between a dolphin and a shark. : )

~Palm Beach is a great place to visit if you need to find out if you have an inferiority complex. Apparently, I have one.

~Most designers don't want to sell clothes to women over a juniors size 12. At least none of the more well known designers do.

~ Tiffany & Co. employs a security guard to watch you during the day while you are shopping. This is a good idea, but it makes browsing uncomfortable.

That is all! Ciao!

Precious Memories

Isn't it weird what brings back a memory? The other day I bought a new pack of Maebelene (?) eyeshadow and it made me have the most vivid flashback of the time I went to the district FFA officer interviews. I'm guessing it was because I bought almost the exact same eyeshadow so that I would have something to match the ever so stylish FFA corduroy jacket the night before I went. That was a fun day. I wasn't chosen as an officer, unfortunately, but I met a lot of nice people and made a very good friend as well. In fact, I have a whole scrapbook page for that year dedicated to that day. One of the girls and one of the guys drew me a picture on a piece of scratchy brown paper towel and I want to say that I got some cards from the state officers that were there. It was so much fun. Of course, I didn't find out until later that when I went into the office for my actual interview, they all started talking about my "tattoo". Stupid me had forgotten to take off a temporary tattoo that I had on my ankle before the interviews and it showed through my pantyhose and they were trying to decide if it was real. Heeheehee, that's typical me. Always doing something dumb like that. Anyways, thanks for taking a stroll down that proverbial lane with me this morning. : )

No Dignity...

I was going to enter this on my blog today, and then I decided not to. I finally decided to post it after all when I realized that it is indeed a funny story. This is a story of how I once again lost my dignity in a public bathroom. I sent this story to a friend of mine, so I just cut and pasted the story as it was from that e-mail. Hope you get a good laugh!

I went to Wal-Mart last night and went to the bathroom. While I was in there I looked for some money that I had in my pocket, but couldn't find it. I was kind of ticked, because I knew that if it had fallen out, I would never see it again. I had just gotten resigned to the fact that I had lost it when I turned around and realized that the money was in the toilet. Now, I just stood there hoping I was hallucinating. Had it been my own bathroom, it would still have been disgusting, but not like this. When I walked in, I thought to myself that the bathroom was gross, but now I was faced with a predicament that would require me to fish something out of the toilet, and I wasn't prepared for that. I honestly thought about flushing it, but as you know, in the toilet or not, it was still money. Had it been change, I wouldn't have even considered it, but it was the green kind. So I went McGyver mode and tried to fashion a rudimentary glove from a toilet seat cover. However, those dissolve when they come into contact with water apparently. *Shudder* So I've got a handful of quickly dissolving toilet seat cover and wet money running like a loon through the bathroom making a high pitched keening noise. So I throw the money under hot water and wash my hands as much as possible. Then I have to take the money, wrap it in tissue, and stuff it into my purse. When I got home, I anti bacterial washed those suckers and hung them up to dry. I guess I'm guilty of money laundering (you know I was just waiting to use that one).

WEEKEND UPDATE!

Greetings everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was fine. Friday Steve and I rented some movies. I, Robot (pretty good, but the CGI effects were a little cartoony. Still a good flick, though.) Without A Paddle (which Steve thought was hilarious, but I played Sims 2 during.) and Dawn of the Dead. We didn't watch that last one because it was dark, so I saved it for Saturday. It was nice to sit at home and relax for a change. We always seem to be running somewhere these days!
Saturday I didn't have to work, so I started cleaning out the yella-room closet. For those of you not familliar with the yella-room, it's our screaming yellow guest room. We've pretty much been using it as a storage closet for the past couple of years, but I'm determined to get it organized again in case of visitors. I found clothes that I honestly forgot I had, so that was kind of fun. Since I saved Dawn of the Dead for that afternoon, I got all curled up and ready to be scared to death, but it didn't happen. I mean, it was gross, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't scary. Maybe I'm a little jaded from all the Stephen King stuff I've read, but the movie was more sad to me than anything. Of course, it was kind of scary when the little girl gnawed the guys jugular in half, but other than that it wasn't bad. That night we went to dinner with some friends and then went to our staple after dinner place: Barnes and Noble. I bought a copy of Vanity Fair, and by gosh I'm going to make myself read it! I also bought myself a small box of Godiva. It's sad when you have to buy your own Godivas, but at least you don't feel obligated to share them. : )
Sunday we went to church and to my parents house. I had to stay home and work on homework that night, but I had a hard time concentrating on anything. I don't know why, but it was like my mind was in a million pieces! I've worked for hours on this stupid project, and I'm no closer to finishing than I was three days ago. It makes me ill, I tell you! ILL!

You know where I'd like to go? There is a park in Athens called Big Spring Park. I used to go there when I was in highschool and hang out. It's tiny, but it's peaceful. I like to watch the ducks. There is also a huge cemetary near there that I've been to once and I'd like to take more pictures.

LOVELY...

I hate not knowing the whole story. Apparently sometime today a former employee came into the Space Center and caused a scene in the lobby and then came down to our trailer and threatened one of the ladies in our accounting department. We don't know what was said, but it must've been bad because the head accounting guy evacuated our office and made us come up to the back up call center in the museum. I'm sure whatever the lady said was an empty threat, but still, it's kind of scary. Now we're up here in this stuffy little office and being slammed with calls. Come, 5:00, I beseech thee!
SEE AT LAST! SEE AT LAST!

I FINALLY GOT MY NEW GLASSES! Woo-Hoo! I went and picked up my new ones yesterday and I can see for miles. It's weird, my eyes have been trained to focus through my ratty old ones for so long that it feels like my eyes are changing shape while they are getting used to the new ones. I'm also excited because the new ones aren't held together with glue, tape or soldier AND I don't look so much like Velma from the Scooby gang anymore. Go me.

Since I had two doc appointments yesterday I skipped school and had a Kelly Day. I went to a place called Garden Cove produce which is a health food store and that was kind of cool. I embarrassed myself there. Taking a que from a very talented photographer friend of mine, I took my camera along with me in case I saw anything interesting. When I got into the store, I thought that some of the things in there would make interesting pictures and that I could probably use some of the pictures for my art projects. Well, since this place is family owned, I asked if I could take pictures because I didn't want them to think I was with the health department or whatever. Well, the first lady told me to ask a second lady, and the second lady told me to talk to someone else, and before it was all over it had gotten more complicated than it was worth. So I was just going to quietly make my purchases and leave. Well, the cashier lady asked if I had taken any pictures and I told her that I just decided it was too much trouble and that it wasn't important, but she wouldn't let me leave until she called the manager over. I was so embarrased. When I told her I was just wanting the pictures so that I could use them for art projects she said "Who are you with?" I just stammered that I was an art student and told her what I wanted to do and told her it wasn't important and she STILL went on to tell me they would have to know some time in advance because of stocking days and what not. I just gave up. I figure I can take pictures at Target if I need pictures of fruit.
I also went to Maple Hill Cemetary to take some pictures, and it was too cold to stay long. I was hoping to get some of those "ghost" pictures I told you about before (heeheehee) and so I just hollered out "Okay, folks, if anyone wants to have their picture made, come on out." About that time I see someone out of the corner of my eye, which of course scares me, and I turned and no one was there. I left fairly quickly after that. In the hazy light of a new day, I'm pretty sure that it was just one of those eye floaters or whatever, but for a second I thought I was about to make an interesting new aquaintance. I'll be going back when it gets a little warmer. I don't know why I like old cemetaries. I'm a taphophile I guess. Don't get worried though, it's not death I'm facinated with, it's the old head stones. I wish that I knew where more old graveyards were. I've just about read everything at Maple Hill. It's still interesting to me, though, so I'll keep going back once a year or so. I haven't looked at the pictures I took yet, so I'll let you know if my friend in in any of them! ; )

Well, if I can't beat 'em...
What could possibly be more fun than the first season of The Dukes of Hazzard on DVD? Why, it's the SECOND season of The Dukes of Hazzard on DVD! You heard me right, folks. Steve bought the second set and we have been watching them at night since last week. You know, I've always liked that show and I realize that it's supposed to be a little silly, but golly-gee when you watch them back to back like we've been doing, you soon realize how campy the show is. I think I said the same thing about the first season, too, and it still holds true. However, I am prepared for my gentle revenge on having to watch them. I went out and bought a 10 disk set of "Natural Sounds" CDs. I've made him go to sleep listening to thunder and waves, so far. Next I'm going to turn on the Bird Sanctuary. He'll have Alfred Hitchcock nightmares! *evil grin*.
Speaking of those CDs, yesterday while I was getting ready for school, I turned on one labled "Solitude By the Lake" or something like that and I turned it up loud so I could hear it all over the house. I don't know what kind of lake this was supposed to be, but I kept expecting Tarzan to let out a yell and swing by me. I can only imagine what the neighbors were thinking!
And lastly...
BOO! I found out that my Yoga class is only a 10 week course instead of 15 weeks like all my other classes. This means I'm going to have to start practicing at home. That's not too bad. At least I won't be embarrassed when I fall down (and I do fall down. Frequently). : ) However, I am going to have to force myself to go to the gym to do regular workouts until school is over if I don't do this at home, I guess. Grrrr.

For those who care, I've updated my website. Nuthing exciting, but at least it's different.

For those who don't care, well, you probably don't read this that often and it doesn't really matter. heh.
I love quotes. I love the fact that we have snippets of wise things other people say to draw on when we don't know how to express ourselves. I use a lot of quotes in my artwork. Sometimes they make sense in the context I use them in and sometimes they don't. It doesn't really matter in the long run, and that's the beauty of the thing. Here is one I found for today:

Indifference is the invisible giant of the world.
~Ouida

So, how was my weekend? Well, it had it's moments. Friday night Steve and I went to see Josh's new condo. It's so adorable...I mean, it's a swingin' batchelor's pad and chick magnet. : ) Actually, it's really nice. It's in one of those condo plexes where they have little lawns and tennis courts. The one he's moving in to was owned by someone with BAD taste in decorating. It's going to have to be completely repainted and the wall paper will need to be taken down, but it's so cozy. He's going to let me help him redecorate! Yay! Saturday I had to work: BOO. Steve and I were going to spend the rest of the evening cleaning, but Josh invited us to a cookout and we went there instead. It was a lot of fun. We talked and laughed and I showed everyone my most impressive yoga backbend. Ooooh and/or ahhhhhh. : ) Sunday we overslept and didn't do anything except for going to my parent's house for lunch. We had been trying to get some things done around the house, and we got some of it done, but all it did was intensify the realization that we need to just bomb the place and start all over. Good news, though, is that my parent's will be having a yard sale and we can unload a ton of stuff with that. Everything they don't sell goes to Good Will, so even if no one buys it we don't have to bring it home. I just wish I wasn't getting rid of so many nice clothes. I suppose not getting fat would help, but I don't seem to have a say in the matter. Steve and I both decided to be brutal and not have those "I'll wear it when I lose weight" piles of clothes, but of course we did save back a couple of things. : )

Anyways, that was my weekend. How very, very exciting.

G'day! Welcome to Australia. Here, have a kangaroo scrotum!

It is amazing what you find on the internet when you are doing your homework.

Friday, March 04, 2005

You know, here is something that puzzles me. When you get into an art or music scene or whatever, you see these independantly printed, usually low quality, little publications which would normally be called magazines. These, however, are called "zines". Is it supposed to make make something cooler or edgier to call it a zine? Part of me thinks that's what they mean to do, and the other part of me thinks that maybe someone needs to learn to spell.
What does it say about my frame of mind when I'm sitting here eating Tang powder with a spoon?

I need advice.

Without going into details (which is odd for me, so please don't ask, although it's going to be hard to help me if you don't know. Just try anyways.) I need to know how to react to a potentially emotionally stressful situation. Don't worry, it's nothing really serious, my marriage is fine and no one will die because of this, but it could reduce me to one of those "face-down-in-a-bag-of-chex-mix" moods for a while. Of course, as of right now, the situation is only in my imagination. But you know how sometimes you can see the signs? Well, anyways, I have seen the signs and basically I just want to be able handle it gracefully with the least amount of stress and tantrum throwing. I've come to the conclusion that there are three ways to handle this:

A) Wait it out and see if it will be sudden and painful or so gradual that I won't even notice. Of course, if it's sudden, and I don't do anything, there will be a period of time where I'm going to be very sad and eat a lot before I get over it. If you haven't noticed, I'm an emotional eater. Or I might cry, and Steve hates that. Or both, and I really hate to eat when I'm crying because I get a stopped up nose and I tend to drool. Yeah, there you go. Pretty.

B) I could just start the process myself and get it over with. However, if I'm wrong about everything, it will make me look like a complete ass and not only that but I might end up making someone mad. Personally, I'm kind of tired of looking like an ass, and I don't like to make people mad unless I can turn it around and make the person feel bad for getting angry and then get diamonds or chocolate out of it later.

C) Get a pet otter to take my mind off of things. I like this idea, but Steve doesn't.

If you were faced with a situation that could upset you, which one of these would you pick? I know you probably think I should just wait and see what's going to happen, but it's the waiting part that is driving me crazy. It's like riding a rollar coaster blindfolded and going up and up and knowing that the drop will be coming soon, but not being able to see it. SIGH. Why can't I just be clairvoyant and know everything? It might be boring, but it wouldn't be as stressful.

FREE TO GOOD HOME

Husband who implied that I was fat and then made it even worse by trying to explain his way out of it. Goes by the name of Steve, but will also respond to "Butthead". If interested, by all means, let me know.

Ghoststudy Photo Gallery!

This is so interesting! I can't remember if I've ever posted the link to this or not, but this is a website that claims to post pictures of ghosts. Now, I don't know whether or not to believe that what is presented is ghosts or not. I've become too jaded in my old age to really believe (especially since I can do stuff like this in PhotoShop-ahem...hiremeforyourgraphicsdepartmentifyouhaveoneplease) that this is what I'm seeing. However, I wanted to post the link because I think it's kind of weird if nothing else. The only ones that actually scare me are the people in the TV sets. I don't know why, but just to entertain the idea that something could be looking at you through the screen of your turned off tv freaks me out. It gives me the same feeling that makes me look behind the shower curtain when I'm in the bathroom. : ) Enjoy!

Note to self, never point out the obvious to someone who doesn't want to acknowledge it.

Yesterday I overheard a lady that I work with talking with another lady about a friend of hers that was addicted to some kind of drugs. After her friend went back to her desk, she turned to me and said: "I just don't understand people who are addicted to drugs" as she reached for her 42nd ciggarette of the day. I said "It guess it must be like smoking." If looks could kill, you'd be following my hearse right now.

I work with some mean people. Now, I'm not one to throw stones because as we all know, in the immortal words of Ouiser, "I'm not as sweet as I used to be". But today I was surprised at just how mean these people I normally like so much, can be. I've told you about the new guy that started working with us not long ago? Well, apparently everyone has decided that they aren't even going to try to be nice. Granted, the boy can be a little...much. He's kind of hyper and he wants to get into every conversation, but seriously, he's a very sweet guy. He called in sick today, so that gave everyone ample oppourtunity to pick him apart. They just hurt his feelings so much every day, and there isn't anything I can do. I've seen him get tears in his eyes after talking to them, but I don't know what to say to make him feel better. He just wants to be friends. Granted, he needs to tone it down, but that doesn't give anyone the right to act that way. I told them I thought they were being mean, but they just laughed it off. It makes me feel so bad for him. It amazes me that people who are so senstitive about being hurt themselves can be cruel to other people.
Cartoon Moments

These are moments when there SHOULD be hidden cameras in my home. Steve and I have this little low table that fits into the corner of our living room. We moved it into the guest room to make room for the Christmas tree, but never moved it back. This weekend I was trying to straighten up, so I moved the corner table into the hallway, to the left of the bathroom door, until Steve and I could figure out what to do with it. While taking a break, we were in the living room watching Garden State (good Indie film, by the way, and Zach Braff is adorable) and I had turned off all the lights except for the little one by the door in the room where we were. I ran out of the room to go to the bathroom and about the time I get to the hallway I hear Steve say, "Don't trip over the..." and FLOOMP! I'm lying face down on the the top of that table. It hit me right above the knees and I just went over. I had to lie there for a moment to make sure that I wasn't broken, all the while listening to my dear husband laughing so hard I thought he was going to throw up. At any rate, I didn't harm anything but my dignity, and as you all know, I didn't have that much dignity left. : )

This weekend was busy. We have yet another appraiser coming to our house, so I tried to clean up a little. Well, actually, a lot. We don't have time to do much because of school and stuff, so I was trying to clean up the kitchen/dining room area. I was finding stuff from Christmas that I had never moved. It took me almost 4 hours to clean up the kitchen, and I still didn't get all of the dishes done. However, I did mostly clean up everything, washed the tablecloth, and moved in the white drawer thingie from the yellow bedroom into the dining room and filled it with candles and random junk that would otherwise be in the way. I also did laundry and begun the excavation of the guest room. Warning: when you have a room you use as a stroage locker, it's going to eventually become a mystery to even you. I literally found clothes that I forgot I owned, and threw away a ton of stuff too. I've still got to go through some things, but all in all, I did a lot in just a couple of hours in there. It didn't help that The Color Purple was on, so I'd have to run into the bedroom periodically to see the good bits.

Sunday was lazy for me. We didn't go to my parents, and I had totally forgotten that our sunday school class was going to Cathedral Caverns, and Steve had a lot of homework to do, so I took a nap. Sunday afternoon naps are severely underrated. I had planned to work on some homework of my own, but I thought "Nap or homework?" Nap won hands down!

Well, I need to get back to work. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Does it disturb anyone else when you go into a doctor's office and they have those posters on the wall showing you all of the horrible things that can happen to your body parts? You usually only see these things when you go into a specialist's office, though. You know, in a chiropractor's office they have this big illustrated poster that shows you bulging disks, misaligned spines and whatnot, and I've seen all manner of illustrated gastric maladies...shudder. Today in the eye doctors office I saw one of these same posters with all these gruesome eye injuries and problems. I'm thinking, hmmmm. Don't you think that the person in a doctor's office is already kind of worried about what the Dr. will say, and they don't exactly need to be worried by the threat of a bleeding eye leison? I mean, come on! OH! I also got my first retinal scan. I could hear the faint strains of the Mission Impossible theme playing in my head as this was going on. I have very interesting retinas. The Dr. let me see the images (and I got the feeling they do this to justify the use of what is obviously a frickin expensive machine). I have a slight astigmatism in one eye and my other eye is starting to fail slightly as well. I'm certainly not going to go blind anytime soon, but she said my sight was 50/150. I don't know what that means exactly. I got some cute glasses, and she said I can get contacts if I want them, so I'm going to think about that. I would like to be able to get dressed up without my glasses without having to be blind as a bat in the process. Maybe I can "make my brown eyes blue" too! heh.

I'd like to thank the Country Music Academy...

Going through some pictures at my parent's house on Sunday, I happened to come across a ton of pictures of me with some...well, big hair. This picture is of me and my mom somewhere around 1993 when I was 15. That was the Year of the Hot Rollers. I wish I could be standing up so you could see the full effect of hot rollers plus 1/2 a can of hairspray. I also always kept it in a big poofy barret (?) on the back of my head. For those of you who never saw me back then, have a laugh on me.

What a weekend.

No, nothing exciting happened, it was just...weird.

I had to work on Saturday, and Steve and I had plans to go see Josh's play at the school that night. Steve's parents were supposed to go, but Rhonda got sick and she and Mr. Lee ended up spending the evening at the emergency room so that they could see a Dr. It's a good thing too, because they found out she had a blocked bile duct and had to do surgery. She's fine now, though, but I'm sure she'd still appreciate a few prayers. : )

The play was very good, and Josh looked great in his big bishop hat. I got so tickled at him because as he started to walk out of the scene he started blessing the audience. : ) Afterwards we all went to Red Lobster (yum) and then Steve and I went home.

Sunday, Steve and I got a call from Mr. Lee letting us know about Ms. Rhonda, so we stayed near the phone until we left for my parent's house to eat lunch. It was funny, we got a call from Lee at about 1:00 telling us that Rhonda was having some tests run, and then we got a call from him again at 4:00 letting us know she had just come out of surgery. We were all, huh? We didn't know until later that Steve's phone had wondered out of area, and that there was a message from Lee telling us that she had gone into surgery. We went to see her and to give her a birthday gift (Happy Birthday, Rhonda!) and see how she was. She was on the good drugs, so we left her to sleep and went home.

All weekend I was having these bizarre dreams. I'll say it before and I'll say it again: I shouldn't eat before going to sleep. The one last night was sad. It was a variation of a dream I have often. I dreamed I went to a mall or somewhere, but instead of going with a bunch of friends, I was there alone and it was only a coincidence that I was there at the same time as one of the friends. I waved to them and they came over and railed me out for following them around and told me to go away! Normally it ends up with me and my friends getting together and taking pictures (kind of like a weird, subconcious Mentos commercial), but instead it made me feel bad, and I left and ended up hanging out with a bunch of strangers and watching cartoons. It was really odd. At least no one died in this one. I hate it when people die in my dreams!

SO SUE ME...

OK, so after a conversation with Steve the other night, he tells me that I come across as being too nosey because I ask to know names of people that I'm hearing about or ask who went where with who. I can't help it! My mom used to do the same thing and I guess I got that from her. I need to know names so that I don't get confused. I also ask who went with you so I can have a picture in my head (I need to visualize, I'm an artist!) So to all of you that I've done this to, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to get into your business, I'm just trying to sort out the people you are talking about. I mean, granted I'm nosey, but I'm not asking for names so I can do research on them. Heeheehee. I never knew how it must of sounded! Sorry for seeming more interested than I should (and honestly, more interested than I probably was)! : )

Hmmm...Interesting.

A couple of days ago I got an unusual comment on one of my Blog entries. Here it is verbatem:

************************
Kelly,

I am a one of the mysterious creatures known as Wall Trolls. We are not Pixies, Elves, Fairies, Leprechauns or Gremlins. We live in the walls and attic of many homes, including yours. We normally live quiet and peaceful lives, so we do not usually interact with the outside (human) world. Because of the tragic events surrounding the annual celebration of the birthday of the oldest living member of our family, I elected to tell you how your oven was turned off the other day and give you a warning.

Every year we celebrate the birthday of the oldest living family member. The location of the celebration is shared among the many families that make up our clan, "The Spider Clan". We are called that because we have 8 fingers, four on each hand and a thumb for a total of ten digits. (Except me, the thumb on the left hand is missing due to an accident in you blender.) There is a movement afoot by some of the rouge members of the family to change the name of the clan to the "Decaclan" because of the two thumbs. But I say what good are two thumbs if they are on backwards?....Never mind all that! I was saying that this year was my family's turn to host the birthday party for Grandpa Bemelin who was 128 years old on Thursday. Grandpa Bemelin prefers ice cream cake over frosted cakes or cupcakes. So we got the family all together and were having the birthday party for grandpa. We choose to have the party in the oven since it the best place for all of us to gather. It has a light and is fairly clean, plus we can swing from the racks when we play. We noticed when we gathered that the oven was warm but we went ahead with the party anyway. When we brought the ice cream cake out and it started to MELT! Cousin Lemelin climbed out of the oven to check and found that it was still on! He turned it off, but the damage was already done, the cake was ruined! Grandma Bemelin was so overcome that she fainted and fell against the heating coil and singed her beard and burned her eye. Now she can’t blink it very well. Needless to say the event brought so much distress to the whole birthday celebration, we were shamed in front of the entire clan and were told we would never be allowed to host another one. Our only way to repay you is play tricks and jokes on you. So, if you hear a noise, or if Butler barks at “nothing” or things aren’t as you left them, then know that we are extracting our revenge. If you contact the authorities we will hide so that they will never find us, and we will have to resort to hire the mercenaries called the “Gremlins”. They will take the revenge to the next level. BE WARNED!

Signed:

Ringwal of the Wall Troll Spider Clan. a.k.a “Lefty”

****************************************
Now, when I got that reply i was a little taken back as I was sure we had sprayed for Wall Trolls already this year, but apparently they have been propagating for generations behind our walls. I am SO going to call our pest control company!!! At any rate, now I know who turned off my oven, and I'm relieved to know I'm not going insane. I'd also like to send a reply to Mr. Ringwal and thank him for not letting my house burn down.

Mr. Ringwal,

I would like to apologize for ruining your party and for your grandmother burning her eye. I've never been responsible for someone not being able to blink before. It's an odd sensation! I don't mind the tricks and jokes as long as you don't shave naughty words into the dog's fur again. Now that I know that was you, I owe Steve a huge apology. I will do my best to leave the oven off from now on, so feel free to have as many parties there as you see fit, as long as you clean up after yourself when it's over.

Oh yes, and if you are the one responsible for hiding the mates to my socks, and I do not find the missing ones in the laundry basket when I get home, consider that an act of war!

Your's always,
Kelly

: ) Thanks for the good laugh!

Note to self...

Check for open wounds on fingers before sticking your hands in a vat of vinagar and salt. OUCH!!!!!!!! I was trying to deoxidize my printing plate last night and I had a scratch on my finger. I had to do the owie dance. : (

HE'S HERE, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA....

That movie was wonderful! It had been so long since I'd seen the play that I forgot how great it all was! Although I still prefer the original cast recording of the music, all of the songs were well done and the whole spectacle of the thing was amazing. The Phantom was a little unusual for my taste, though. He sounded more like the lead singer for a metal band than an opera singer, but he was still good. I know that the story calls for the man to be disfigured (hence the mask) but seriously, when she pulled off his mask and everyone screams and whatever, all I could think of was that I've had pimples worse than what he looked like. He wasn't bad at all. Had he not been completely insane, he wouldn't have been too bad for Christine at all. : ) Raul was a cutie, too! All in all, I really and truly enjoyed it. I'll have to go out and get the sound track that I used to have. If I have one complaint, I'd have to say that there was too many...um, how can I say this delicately. Too many partially exposed bosoms in the movie. I now know what it must be like to be a short guy at the prom. If it had been in slow motion, it would have been like a Victorian era Baywatch! Anyways, I give it two thumbs up.

FINALLY! We are going tonight to see the Phantom of the Opera. I've heard that it is wonderful and I've heard it was awful. I hope it's the former. I've loved Phantom since my friend Bonnie first lent me her CDs of the soundtrack when I was a sophomore. Sara and I and some other people who have ceased to matter over the years (j/k!) went to see it on stage in Nashville, and I was completely amazed. Of course, we were at the top of the theater and everyone was about as this big "-", but it was great. Hopefully my glasses will hold together long enough for me to see the whole thing.

Speaking of Sara, I got a birthday card from her (Thanks, Scary Spice) today. ON the back it said: CONFIDENTIAL, Can Only Be Opened By An Old Woman. It's a shame I'm going to have to wait till HER birthday to see what was inside! : )
I'm so freakin' bored.

I am at work today, and it feels like the minutes are dragging by so slowly. We had to move from the trailer yesterday because of a potential electrical issue that COULD cause a fire, and we've been trapped in the back up call center in the museum since yesterday afternoon. I don't think it would be so bad if there were pictures on the walls or something, but we're basically in a narrow white room snaked with cables and computer equipment. At least we have the internet now. The last time we were up here we were using computers that would only run our DOS reservation program. I had bad 9th grade Apple 2 nightmares. I'm only supposed to be here from 9:00 until 1:00, and it's only 11:30 or so right now. I think I've aged seven years in these past 2 1/2 hours.

I've been reading a web site called "Tudor Place" and it is an exhaustive family tree of the Tudor branch of the English royal family. It's actually really very interesting, if you're into that sort of thing. I've been reading books about Queen Elizabeth I and Anne Boleyn, so I wanted to find out how much truth there was to the stories I was reading. That family was messed up! Also, I don't care if Henry VIII was a king, he was a jerk that could have benefitted from a kick in the butt. Of course, he could have you beheaded, so that's probably why that never happened!

Steve and I have to go sign some paper work in Decatur later today and I have to get my tire checked. If this day gets any more exciting, I might blow an artery. SIGH.

I'm going insane.

I've only felt this way once before (when I thought I saw myself. Not in a mirror, but actually saw myself standing across the parking lot from myself), and it really threw me for a loop, but for a second yesterday I felt as if my mind had gone unhinged.

I was working with some polymer clay yesterday morning making a tangent I could wear on a necklace, and I remember very clearly pulling the baking sheet out of the oven and taking Josh's ring (which was also baking in there) off of the sheet and putting it on the counter and then going about my business. Normally when I use my oven, I use the built in timer, which reminds me to turn the oven off. However, I used my egg timer for some reason and I didn't touch the oven controls at all after that. Well, I get to school, and in the middle of a lecture it hits me that I've left the oven on. At first I tried to shrug it off and tell myself that it was on a relatively low temp and would be okay until I got home, but I had turned it on at 9:00 and I wouldn't get home until after classes at about 3:45. Next I tried to tell myself that the oven had an automatic off switch, but I knew that wasn't true. Then I suddenly remembered I had a kitchen towel on the stove, so I jumped up and ran out of class, to my car, and started home. I was in full-blown panic mode. I was scared to death, shaking, praying that I would get there before the fire department did. I tore out of the car and ran inside, and the oven was OFF!!

I just sort of stared at it for a second in disbelief. I even punched the "off' button again just to make sure I wasn't mistaken about whether or not it was really off, but I wasn't. I even opened the oven and touched the racks (with my bare hands...what an idiot), and sure enough it was off. I was so confused.

Now, maybe God turned it off, I don't know, but I certainly know that I didn't do it. I even called Steve to see if he had done it, but he hadn't. That completely threw me off for the rest of the day. I mean, I had gone into a panic attack! It took me hours to get back to normal. Weirdness. Someone call Unsolved Mysteries or something.

I'm in the process of redesigning my whole website. It's kind of going along slowly, since I'm having to do most of the graphics on my laptop, but I've got the ideas. All I have to do is put foundations under them. (I'd like to thank the guy who wrote Walden for that last line I just mangled. I know who he is, but I don't know how to spell his name. No need to send it to me, I'll look it up later.)

We have a new guy at work named Ian. He's 17 years old. He reminds me of Kevin in a lot of ways. You know what I'm talking about. : ) He's a really sweet guy, and he bought me sour gummy worms. I've only known him one day and he's already buying me things. I think I'm going to like him fine. ; )

Steve gave me my birthday gift yesterday. He got me a gift card from Williams-Sanoma! Woo-Hoo! He actually gave me a pack of cards and I was all, "Wha? Um...okay, thanks." He asked me to shuffle them so we could play something and in the middle of the deck was my gift card. He's so cute! We're going out to celebrate my birthday on Saturday if nothing happens. I'm kind of glad. I hate trying to do birthday stuff on my actual birthday. Too many obligitory romantic dates going on! Heeheehee. I guess I sound like the Valentine's Day Scrooge or something. Bah Humbug!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Apparently it's the year of the rooster.

I have no idea what the significance of that is. : )

Oog...

I know I shouldn't feel weird about this now...seeing that it was a long time ago, but I just found out something unplesant.

I dated a guy who had a girlfriend I didn't know about.

Of course, all of this depends on exact dates that they were together and everything, but I'm almost completely certain that the times coincide.

I feel...oogie. Oogieness from several years ago. Not only that, but I feel stupid for feeling bad about something that wasn't intentional AND happened a long time ago. Let's just say, I wouldn't have done that on purpose.

The internet is a dangerous source of suprise information.

In the words of a wise man..."That's all I've got to say about that."

Super what?

Nah, I didn't watch the super bowl. In fact, I did my darndest to avoid anything football related yesterday, and I pretty much succeeded until Steve flipped the channel over after we watched a DVD. I think a bird team won or something. I have no idea why the Super Bowl is such a big deal. Of course, I am not a football fan and I don't care to be around a group of them if a game is on. Maybe if I cared, I would understand.

Maybe I'm just getting old. I'd rather stay home and read, watch tv, or make something than go out anymore and if I do go out, I just want to go somewhere calm to sit and talk. Josh thinks I'm boring. Heck, Steve thinks I'm boring. Maybe I am. Eh, who cares? Personally, I think that if you can't be content at home, you can't be content anywhere. That's just me, though.

I've been reading this book about the reign of Queen Elizabeth and a man named Robert Dudley who was trying to get the queen to fall in love with him so that he could marry her and be powerful. I got to a part yesterday that was good, but Steve and I had to leave for church. I grabbed the book thinking that I could read a little before church started, but I never thought to take off the dust jacket. It dawns on me too late that no matter how innocent the content, a book called "The Virgin's Lover" probably is going to look bad to someone who only sees the cover. I had to keep it hidden!! Le Sigh.

Speaking of Josh, he is going to be the Bishop in the Huntsville High School presentation of The Sound of Music. I have been making his big cross that he is going to wear, and I have to make his fishermans ring. He is going to be one pimped out bishop. I'm afraid if I'm not careful, he'll look more like Flava Flav than anyone even remotely holy. : ) He wants me to make one of those stick things that they carry around, but I'm Baptist and I don't know what it is or what it looks like. I just know that it's some kind of staff with a curled over end. Anyone want to help me with that?

The Bemusement Park

That's my I'm-Too-Lazy-To-Erase-My-Link link for today. It's actually a good read, and the guy who writes it is hilarious. I had to bookmark after the first time I read it.

Anyways.

I'm prompted to write this morning because of a conversation we had going on in the office a minute ago. We were talking about Valentine's Day. I've said it before and I'll say it again...

I hate Valentines Day.

*20 Minutes Later*
I actually had a long post explaining why I hate Val. Day. But I'm not in the mood to sound whiny, so I'll just have a quick rant. Here is the Reader's Digest Condensed Version.

A note beforehand - this is not because of something Steve did or didn't do. I've hated Val. Day since long before I met him.*

Rant

I don't approve of a holiday where people feel obligated to have a significant other and I hate that there are people out there who get depressed because they don't have one. I hate that some people think that if they don't get expensive gifts or are not taken on some wildly elaborate date that the person they are with doesn't love them enough. I hate that there are women who EXPECT to get proposed to on that day. I think that if people love one another, they don't need a special day to prove it, and they certainly don't need to buy diamonds or flowers or whatever to prove it either.

However, if there is one thing that doesn't completely suck about Val. Day it's something that can be summed up with one word. Chocolate.

No more crack for me...

After class, I was walking out of the gym and I had my mat carrier slung across my chest with the strap in the front and the bag in the back. It looked and felt like I was carrying a quiver, you know, like you keep arrows in. As I was walking out, I had an unholy urge to play a quick scene from Lord of the Rings and pretend to be Legolas and shoot one of the gym managers with an imaginary arrow. Luckily I was not insane enough to do it and I made it out of the door without incident. Good thing, too. I'm a good shot with those imaginary arrows.

I had a little time to kill after my graphics class, so I went to Hobby Lobby to get some paper for the church scrapbook. I know absolutly nothing about scrapbooking, so I'm wondering through the asiles trying to figure out what everything does. Before I knew it, I was surrounded by scrapbook enthusiasts...Soccermoms, I just know it. Apparently there is this whole multitude of people who record each and every aspect of their lives by gluing things into a book along with cute little stickers, glitter, grommets, and fancy things made from bent wires. Now, as an arty kind of person, I have some of these things at home, but I had no idea the extent of this whole scrapbooking movement. Now I will attempt to record church activities in an attractive, yet archivially proper way...with little shaped punch out thingies and fancy paper. SIGH, first the SUV, now this. If I start talking about naming any of my future kids something like Bailey or Taylor, just shoot me in the head.

More Yoga News...

I think I broke my spleen today. I also broke my glasses again.

That's pretty much all for now.
Woah...

Do you know what I just realized? I'm scary looking first thing in the morning. I mean, sure, I'm not Angelina Jolie at any time of the day, but jeez. heeheehee I looked in the mirror a minute ago, and I was awake enough to realize that I sort of resembled Sloth from "The Goonies" movie! Either Steve has reached that place where he doesn't care what I look like anymore, or that is the real reason he doesn't get out of bed until I'm almost ready every day! : )

woot

Interesting site...

Anyways.

Yoga...bad...yoga...hurt.

You'd think that basically standing in one place and stretching your arms would be easy. I've been doing pretty good in my yoga class so far, but yesterday I thought I was going to die. We only learned one new move, called "the tree", but just doing the routines we've already learned kicked my rear. I limped out of there feeling like someone tried to pull of my leg. I felt better once I got home and sat down for a while, so I didn't think I'd have any more trouble, but I woke up this morning and everything hurt. You've heard the phrase "muscles I didn't even know I had hurt?" I finally, truly inderstand it. I mean my ankles, chest, and even my armpits hurt! And this morning, I got to work just fine, but while I was walking to the copy machine, my big toe suddenly committed suicide and I had to take my boots off. Oy.
I am also afraid one day I'm going to break out laughing while we're doing our routines. It's hard not to laugh, but either everyone in the room has more control over their laughter than I do, or no one else has a sense of humor. It's the names of things that kill me. Here is what we've learned so far: Child Pose, Standing Mountain, Downward Fold, Monkey Stretch, The Plank, The Cobra, Downward Dog (that's my favorite. I saw Butler do it the other day.), Open Triangle, Pyramid, the Warrior Positions, and the Tree. Don't get me wrong, I love doing Yoga, but it gives me way too many chances to embarass and hurt myself. I'm so not graceful, but amazingly enough I'm more bendy than I knew. : )

Ghoststudy.com - A Paranormal Adventure!

New pictures have been posted in the gallery for this month. It's about TIME! If creepy stuff scares you, don't look at it.

SIGH

I think I'm getting that "lack of sunlight" depression thingie. I'm sitting here in my evil little cubical feeling sad. I can't really even put my finger on why, though. Maybe sad isn't the right word. You know that feeling that you get when you're leaving for a trip, and you're already two hours away from home, and you get the feeling that you forgot something important? I feel like that.

Weird.
UAH Academic Calendar

I just saw myself in the mirror. You know how sometimes I end up dressed like Laura Bush? Not today. I just realized that I bear a striking resemblance to the Baroness from the G.I. Joe comics. All I need is a Cobra emblem on my sweater.
