For the third time in the past 5 days, I have awoken with absolutely no idea where I was.
That's a strange feeling, you know. I mean, it possibly has a lot to do with whatever I'm dreaming at the time, I guess, but it's still kind of frightening when you wake up, tangled in bedsheets and have to really concentrate on the last thing you remember doing before you go to sleep. Not that I tend to fall asleep in strange places, mind you, but Crazytown is apparently a place that can follow you around no matter where you lay your head. : )
Thank goodness I remembered who Steve was before I smothered him with a pillow. Heeheehee
OK, so Thanksgiving.
I won't lie about it. I was dreading the trip this year. As you know, Steve's mom passed away earlier this year and since the Thanksgiving tradition has always been one that revolved around her side of the family, I was worried that there would be too many painful memories to really make it easy to be thankful for anything. Luckily, things actually turned out very well. True, we all missed her and there was a definite empty spot where she should have been, but I think we were all able to remember her in our own way and work it out. One has to do that, or go crazy after all, right?
Wednesday Steve and I left work at noon so that we could get home and ready to go. We had to take our two babies to the kennel, which was an adventure. The vet had given us a bottle of tranquilizers for Bear to take before he came back for his next appointment. Since Butler and Bear are roughly the same size, I figured that I could give them both a pill (done with no fuss and no muss, amazingly) and after that, it would be gravy. Well, it wasn't so much gravy as it was THE FREAKING PILL DIDN'T DO A FRACKIN' THING! Bear was cool, albeit a little nervous, but Butler was all but bald by the time we got to the pet resort. It's only about 5 minutes or so away, but he still managed to cover me and the interior of the car with about twelve pounds of dog hair. So after we take care of them, we go back home to rewash clothes and get on the road. Steve had decided to take a *koff, koff* shortcut this year. Well, not really a shortcut as much as a different route as it turned out. We ended up getting a little lost due to one wrong turn, but I got to see a whole lot of new places. We passed Barry College, which Steve says is lovely, and I got to see Cartersville again. I think I've only been outside of the car once in Cartersville, about three years ago, but one day I hope to get to explore. Sometimes I think my lot in life is to see the world through the car windows, but never get out to experience it! Grrrrr. Oh well, I have friends who travel and get out in interesting places, so I get to live vicariously at least! There were more places, but I don't remember the names of them all right offhand. We finally found our way and made it to Waleska and the Puckett plantation. : ) It was about 8 our time when we got there, so there was plenty of time to talk and laugh before I just couldn't stay awake anymore. Steve and his dad ended up staying awake much longer than I did! Just when, exactly, did I get older than them? : )
Thursday I slept in a bit, for me anyways, and then got up to begin the traditional helping of the cooking of Thanksgiving lunch. We normally don't do the whole dinner thing since Steve's cousins are married and have other family functions to attend, so we have our big meal in the middle of the day. Aunt Brenda and Uncle Garry had already gotten most of the food cooked, but there were still a few things left to do. I got to set the table, and unfortunately I still have no idea which side the knives and forks go on! The effect was nice, though! Heeheehee. We had SO much food and babies everywhere! Thank God this part of the family doesn't bother asking when I'm going to spawn anymore. I'm running out of witty things to say! We ate and laughed and I cliche-ed myself by falling asleep on the couch after I ate. Granted, it was an accident, but how can you NOT nap after a meal like that? It should be a law! Later that evening, as the family went their separate ways, we ended the day with more talking and laughing...and me going to bed before everyone else!
Friday was the designated "Christmas Dinner" day, so the morning passed quite lazily. Steve, Jon and Mr. Lee had decided to go shopping that morning. Can you believe it? I'd rather remove my own gall bladder with an oyster fork than even drive anywhere on Black Friday, but the menfolks always want to go shopping! I spent most of that morning working on "Stupid Paper III" because I have been procrastinating. Unfortunately, all of the research I thought I had done turned out to be quite useless. I had managed to save information on my thumb drive, but absolutely none of it was what I needed! GAH! I realized at that moment that I wasn't going to be able to do much of anything while all of my info was in Alabama! So I went outside and played with the animals. Olive, the basset hound; Lucy, the jack russel...something; and a cat which amazingly decided it loved me. I found this odd, because cats, as a rule, kind of hate me. I think they realize that I prefer dogs and they get offended. Somehow they know this without me having to say anything! I like cats. Heck, I like any kind of nice animal really, but somehow they always seem to suspect that I'm a dog person and they quietly plot my death in the ways only cats can do...except for this one. So the 4 of us played for a while before I went back inside to crochet. Sadly, I ended up falling asleep again with my hook in my hand and about 6 pounds of yarn in my lap, but at least I was warm! : )
*As an aside, you can tell I'm quite the party animal, right? The three-toed sloth of good times!*
We made it to Kristen and Greg's house for our "Christmas" and everything was, of course, perfect. Kristen is one of the few people I know who can make her house look like something out of Better Homes and Gardens! So, of course, I tried not to knock anything over. : ) I hung out with their 6 month old son, Collins, and talked about theology and philosophy (as anyone would with a 6 month old, of course) until we opened our gifts. I was filming everything with my early Christmas gift from Steve, which is a DV recorder, and everything was so great. At some point I had a violent FFA State Convention flashback. I swear, I experienced the whole three years of those conventions through the view-finder of Mr. Harris' video camera. : ) Mr. Lee had brought a gag gift for Katie, Amy's daughter. To my chagrin, I had turned the camera off to open my own gifts and didn't get this recorded. Inside the box was a roll of toilet paper. Katie, who I swear is a 30 year old woman in a 6 year old body, kind of looked taken aback for a moment before smiling and saying ever so politely..."I was really not expecting this, but thank you very much!" What a great save! After gifts was dinner and then the sitting about and talking. Poor Sean, Amy and Jon's son, wasn't feeling well, so they had to take him home early. Once the rest of us got back to the house, I did a little more work on my paper and then we went to bed. I actually stayed up later than Steve, but all that got me was locked out of the bedroom. I had to knock for about 5 minutes before he woke up and let me in. Geez, he could have just ASKED me to sleep on the couch. : )
Saturday Mr. Lee left for home and Steve went back to Greg's house to watch the Georgia/Georgia Tech game. Greg went to UGA (hunker down dawgs and all of that), so he's a serious Bulldogs fan. I stayed with Aunt Brenda and Uncle Garry and did more homework. When I went as far as I could, I watched the game with them. It was a good game, as far as football goes, so that was fun. Then we flipped on the funniest holiday film ever "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". It's not the holidays without that being on at least once! Steve and Greg came back later on and everyone else played cards while I crocheted and listened to an Agatha Christie "Miss Marple" audio novel on my iPod. I swear, a can of Ensure and a Matlock marathon, and I'd be set! : ) Actually, it was nice and cozy and I enjoyed it a great deal. I'm very glad I'm the kind of person who can entertain themselves and be satisfied with "Kelly-Time". Otherwise, I think, I'd be quite miserable!
Sunday Steve and I got up, had breakfast and headed back to Alabama (no banjos on our knees, though). We picked up two very clean, very happy to see us dogs, and came home.
All in all, a very lovely holiday.

Isn't it funny how things work out?
You go to a lot of effort to do something for someone, realize that they don't care, and then you're stuck with 1000 plastic flamingos and a Little Bo Peep costume that you can't take back to the store because it was on sale.
OR, in case you don't know the same people I do, the sparkle goes out of the things you used to love to do, because it turns out it doesn't really matter to them anymore.
whee

WEEKEND UPDATE!
This weekend was busy. Busy, busy, busy...but you wouldn't know it by the state of my house. This was another one of those weekends that I have all of these plans, yet I get few things done. It wasn't lazyness this time though, it was my underestimation of the time it would take me to do certain things! : )
Friday after work, Steve came to pick me up and we went to get my turkey from the Employee Association guys. As always, every year the SpRocket gives all of their employees a free turkey for thanksgiving. I realized I already had a turkey in the freezer and wouldn't have the need, nor the space, for another one. So I donated it to the needy. Nothing like a little benevolence to start off the weekend. I got a warm fuzzy. Once we got home, I picked up some crocheting that I needed to finish. I was making a baby blanket for a friend of mine and needed to have it done by this weekend. I had a LOT left to go, so I put on my headphones and began. About 5 to 6 hours of straight crochet, and my hands swelled up like water balloons. It was weird. I literally had to soak my hands in ice water to make the swelling go down. I still wasn't finished with the blanket, but I put it aside to work on the next day. For some reason, after that I couldn't sleep. I didn't end up getting sleepy until about 4:30 Saturday morning, which sucked, because I had too much to do to sleep all day. I wound up sleeping until about 10:30, so most of my morning was gone.
Saturday Steve and I were doing laundry and gathering clothes to give to Goodwill. It's not until times like this that I realize that I have a lot of clothes that I hang on to for no good reason. I suppose it's because I think...OH! I'll wear this again! Not so much. So I will be seriously thinning the wardrobe this time. We also went out and got our oil changed (woo-hoo! Party Time!) and I had to go to Wal-Mart for some supplies. Steve had planned on hanging out with Anthony and Watching the 'Arn Bowl' so I got the blanket and made myself finish it. My hands hurt so bad that it took about 20 minutes for them to get limber enough to move correctly. It took 3 hours, but I finally finished the gift. I was very proud, too, because it's the first real, useful and not just decorative, afghan that I've ever made. It's sort of in the shape of Montana, due to the accidental addition of a couple of extra stitches, but otherwise I'm very pleased with it. : ) While I was working on it, I was once again wearing my headphones and listening to an audio novel, when I heard screaming outside. It scared me at first, but then I realized that the ballgame must have ended and Auburn must have won. The people across the street are die-hard Tiger fans, and they had this HUGE flag thing planted in the front yard. I'm going to guess it was them hollering in the front yard. I had completely forgotten about the game being on. I've lost my taste for watching football, even though I used to love watching the Alabama/Auburn game with my dad. I'm sure he was upset at the outcome, because he has always been a Bama fan, so don't tell him I said this: War Eagle! If anyone in my family sees that, I'll have to find someone to adopt me because I'll be disowned, so SHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Sunday was a good day. Church in the morning, of course. Steve has the worst habit of making me laugh during service, though. Everything was fine except that some medicine I had taken was making me sleepy and I kept fading out of the sermon. I sort of half noticed that Steve had his leg crossed and was moving it when all of a sudden SNAP!!!! I thought that he had accidentally ripped the hymnal holder off of the back of the pew! What had happed was that the cuff of his pants had caught on one of the little pencils that they keep there and he wasn't able to stop moving his leg before it broke. The two elderly ladies jumped about a foot in the air. So, of course, I got tickled. Amazingly enough I was able to keep from shaking too much, but I kept thinking about those little old ladies jump, and that would make it worse. That made Steve start laughing and the people behind us start laughing. I was able to regain my composure by the time we had the invitation, so it wasn't too bad. However, we got a good laugh out of it on the way to the car. My parents weren't going to be at home during lunch, so Steve and I went to lunch with his dad. Then we did some errands and went home. I had so much to do for this week that I spent Sunday evening trying to get everything done before I went to bed. Alas, I didn't get it all done, but there's still tonight! I may get things finished. I'm not holding my breath though.

Greetings everyone!
You know, I haven't been posting very much lately, but I have a perfectly good reason. I've gone into what is known as "Kill Me" mode. Basically that just means that I've had so much to do that I haven't been doing anything at all. Sounds crazy, but it's true! I've literally gone home from work and not done anything useful!
However, this is going to change. As of today, I have to do a lot of stuff before our trip, so I must, MUST, get busy!
I start tonight, so we'll see how that goes! : )

This morning, already late for work, I jumped into my car only to find that the battery had died a quiet death sometime in the night. Luckily, Steve came home and jumped Lois off and gave me the truck for the day. He's my hero!

10:13 am UPDATE:
Finally got to work and Ed came in to my office, as he always does on Mondays, to discuss our various weekends. After listening to me mourn my car troubles, he left and came back with two boxes of fresh Krispy Kreme donuts, a Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia milkshake, and a Christmas tree ornament that looks like the "Hot Sign" at Krispy Kreme - and it blinks. All because I had a bad morning. Sometimes it's the little things in life that people do for you that make all of the difference.

Premature Weekend Update!
It's actually Sunday morning, but I decided to go ahead and do my weekend update! Go me!
Friday was the longest day in the history of long days. We had a new girl start in out web position, and I'm afraid I'm going to have to nail her office door shut. Don't get me wrong, she is very nice and I like her a lot, but she hovers. Granted, she doesn't know anyone and is just wanting to be friendly, but geez. She came into my office three times and stayed for long periods of time. I was even wearing my headphones and listening to an audio book while I was working, and she kept talking. At the end of the day, she came into my office and stayed two solid hours. I can't wait until she gets some stuff to do. I wouldn't ever hurt her feelings for anything, but I'm afraid if this becomes a habit, I'm going to snap. Friday night, Steve and I went to dinner with Anthony. He has some anger issues he's working on, so we tried to keep him cheerful. :) We had dinner at Beaureguards (yum) and we were going to go for fro-yo at TCBY, but it was closed! Not for the evening, but closed for good! OH THE HUMANITY! After that we walked over to Books-A-Million and hung around for a little while. Can someone please explain to me why BAM feels it necessary to keep the art and design magazines directly underneath the gay pride magazines? I could actually care less about what new TV star (ahem....Doogie) has just come out of the closet, but now the guy who stocks magazines thinks it's a favorite subject of mine. To be clear, I was looking for a specific art magazine, so that's why I was at that section. SIGH.
Saturday was mine and Steve's 6th wedding anniversary. We didn't have anything really planned like we did last year, but we had at least decided to go to breakfast at the new Cracker Barrel that they built on Drake Ave. You can sit on the front porch and look out over Wal-Mart. Very scenic. I can't wait for the novelty to wear off for that place. It was PACKED beyond safe numbers. It took Steve and I forever to eat, but it was good. I haven't had breakfast there in so long! We were going to get our Anniversary gift from there, but we had a hard time finding anything. Apparently, year 6 is candy or iron. How they paired those two, I'll never know. We finally found a section of cast iron skillets and stuff, but people were standing in front of it and wouldn't move. We finally made someone uncomfortable enough to walk somewhere else -I knew Steve was good for something!- and picked out one of those cast iron stove top griddles/grills. This Austrailian lady helped us decide. She said you can make good steaks on them. :) After that we went home and watched some movies. I worked on some Christmas gifts, and then because God apparently has a very strange sense of humor and a grudge against me, we found that the entire series of Star Wars movies was playing on Cinemax. All Day. Over and over. Episode 1 through Return of the Jedi. All. Day. Long. So that's what we did that night. Well, we did stop watching long enough to play a short and rather one sided game of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit. I'm sure you can guess who won that game! : )

The No Sick Leave Blues
When I woke up that morning (dum de da dum*)
I couldn't get out of bed (dum de da dum*)
and so I called into work (dum de da dum*)
and used a personal day instead!
Because I'm not full time
and I have no sick leave
so if I don't go into work
they take away some of my green!
I've got the not full time,
no sick leave,
sick in bed,
no other choice,
lost my only accrued personal day blues!
*That would be the obligatory harmonica blues riff
Sorry about that. I've been listening to B.B. King a lot lately. : )
So yesterday I woke up sick and called into work. I just sat in the recliner for six hours and watched TV. I think it's just the weather and my ever present sinus problems, but whatever it was...sucked. By evening, though, I was feeling a little better. Poor Steve, though, he came home sick too. I knew he was really feeling bad because he wasn't being a baby about it. The last time he felt bad and didn't whine, he had pneumonia, so I've become wary of the quiet, sick Steve. I made a pot of soup and some low fat cupcakes for dinner. Steve doesn't like the soup, but he liked the cupcakes, so it all evened out. The cupcakes were awesome, though! I snatched the recipe off of a blog I read every day, and you should try it! It sounds gross, but it isn't at all! You need:
1 box devil's food cake mix
1 can of pumpkin
3/4 cup of water.
Mix it up and bake it like the box says! They don't taste or smell like pumpkin at all! No extra fat or oil and possibly even vegetarian safe, although I don't know what sort of animal bits may be in the mix.
Later that evening I got a call from my very favorite Kenny, whom I gave a little over-the-phone Flash help. Let me just say this, it's hard to help someone with a GUI based program when you aren't looking at what they are doing. I'm afraid he got frustrated with me because I kept telling him to do this one thing, and he kept telling me that it wasn't working, and I kept telling him - slower and louder- to do that thing, and he -slower and louder- kept telling me it didn't work. It turns out that one of his layers was locked and so we couldn't edit it. Duh, on my part. I forgot I locked all of the layers when I made the original file he was working with. However, we sort of got it all sorted out...sort of. Don't worry, we'll get it! I'm determined.
I haven't started on my research paper and it's due in less than a month. I've had so much to do that I keep putting it off, and even when I have time I put it off. It's like having a snake in your living room that might be dead. You see it, you know it's there, but you're too afraid to poke it because it might rise up and swallow you whole. :( I also was a hit with my chocolate themed project in graphics. Everyone was duly impressed with my magnets and postcards. The teacher actually liked it too, but I'll wait to do my happy dance until I get my grade back. He may have changed his mind once the glow of critique was over.
Speaking of school, I finally registered for what should be...*dramatic pause*...my last semester before I graduate! I will be taking 19th Century Art history, to fulfill my final oblilgation to my minor, History of Theater I, to fulfill my last elective, and Aerobic Kick Boxing, to fulfill my need to exercise and be able to whoop up on Steve if I ever need to. : ) I'm kind of iffy about that last one because it's right in the middle of the day and I'll have to come back to work all sweaty and tired, but I'm not currently exercising like I should, so I'm hoping it will give me a boost.
So that's all for me for right now! I'll be back.

Are ya ready kids? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
WHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....WEEKEND UPDATE!
Sorry about that, I have a new guilty pleasure. I love the Spongebob Squarepants cartoon! Anyways...
I had a lovely weekend, thanks for asking! It wasn't terribly event filled and I did sleep a lot, but come on, that's what weekends are for, right?
Friday was a "Stay at Home" night for Steve and I. We went and got dinner and came home to watch he TV shows that we missed thursday night. My Name is Earl, The Office and Smallville were fabulous as usual, of course. We also got to watch Battlestar Galactica when it came on, instead of just recording it. I can't believe I'm so caught up with this show, but it's really, very arresting. I stayed up a litte later than normal playing a game on the computer, but then slept. Very Exciting.
Saturday I was awoken by a ringing telephone. Since it ripped me out of a very sound sleep, I was in Crazy Town when I answered. The caller ID said it was my mom, so I was immediately afraid that something had happened, but luckily it wasn't anything like that. My friend Sara was going to be on the local news in a short interview about her transplant and my mom wanted me to make sure I saw it. I don't remember much of what I said, but I do remember asking her what day it was. She told me later that I sounded kind of crazy, but then again, when you wake someone up and they aren't altogether lucid when they answer the phone, you'll have that. I got Steve to turn on the TV and we were just in time to see her spot on the news. She looked great and seemed to be doing really well! I was so glad to see her! After that went off, I was officially awake. Steve still wanted to sleep, so I got up and started my day. I folded some laundry, made some cinnamon rolls and watched "Saw II". I was expecting that to be a little more scary than it turned out to be, but it WAS a movie that made me squirm. The needle pit was the worst part! The girl was thrown into a big pit fill of dirty hypodermic needles that she had to dig through with her bare hands. I almost couldn't watch. It was a pretty good movie, though, all things considered. : ) At 2:00, I went to our church carnival and painted fingernails in the face painting room. It was fun, but it made me feel horribly uncool. That sounds pretty strange, but there is nothing like little kids to help remind you how out of touch with things you are. I brought my box full of all the rainbow fingernail polishes I have. When I was a teenager, so very long ago, that kind of thing was cool and I suppose I just never grew out of it. Not one little girl wanted anything other than pink or red nails! In fact, the brush in my hot pink polish actually fell apart fom use! Oy, vey...I'm old. Anyways, it was fun. :) I had to run to Wal-Mart afterwards to get some stuff for a christmas gift I'm making, and when I got home, I crashed. I don't know how long I slept, but what was supposed to be a power nap raged out of control. I finally did get up and worked on some of my homework. I now have a new reason why I love being an art student! For my most current project, I needed pictures of a box of chocolates as well as a Whitman's Sampler box. So I ended up buying a load of chocolates (for homework, of course) which Steve and I have enjoyed all weekend! WOO! We had made plans with Josh that night to have dinner and see the musical "Hairspray"! It was so good, although I'm thinking that Josh has an unnatural attraction to that movie that I can't really understand. I truly enjoyed it and it was really funny! I could totally play that chubby girl part, but alas, I cannot dance. So I have the chubby and the singing part down, but I move like a spaztic iguana. Nice. So that is how we finished the day, going to a musical. Even Steve enjoyed it! A miracle!
Sunday was our regular day. Church in the morning and my family's house for lunch. We were celebrating my dad's birthday that day, so we had presents and pie. It was a nice day. When we got home, Steve and I slept again. He got up in time to go to church, and I stayed home to work on my homework. I still have a lot to do, but at least I got the gnarly part finished. When Steve got home, we watched "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" and it was surprisingly good. There have been times I would have liked to have super powers to get back at an ex-boyfriend. Who wouldn't like to throw an angry great white shark into someone's bedroom? : )
Today I have to do a presentation for my history class on the Boscoreale Treasure and I don't feel completely ready. It's weird, I'm nervous and there is only about 20 other people in class with me. I'm afraid that my teacher will know how severely uneducated about the subject that I am, but it's not totally my fault! That subject hasn't been researched by too many people since about 1923, and even though I can find infomation on it, everything seems to cover the same ground. My teacher has done archeology work in Pompeii, for the love of Cleatus, so it's not like she doesn't know everything about it already. Heck, she's probably held the stuff in her hand for all I know! Ugh, keep your fingers crossed for me!
That is all.

OH! I suck! I forgot to give you an update on Sara! I was actually included in a mass e-mail that she sent out herself! : ) She said it's been painful and kind of embarassing, but that she's doing well, all things considered. Her doctors seem to think she's doing well enough to be moved to the recovery house fairly soon, if she isn't there already. I was very glad to actually hear from her, so I did a breif happy dance in which I didn't knock anything over...so you know there was joy involved. She will still need our thoughts and prayers, so keep them coming!
And Sara, if you're reading this, there are a lot of people pulling for you, so get well soon! : )

OK, so Halloween.
We spent the evening with Mr. Lee so that we could finally know what real, hardcore, trick or treating is like. I didn't wear a costume, much to my chagrin, because I believe that my fondness for wearing costumes kind of embarrasses Steve at times, and if that is the case it would probably mortify his dad. So since the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few, I wore jeans and a t-shirt. Sigh. Steve and I both left work a little early so we could get consolidate cars and be over in Madison early enough, but that didn't seem to matter much. It was raining, and there was SOOOOOO much traffic that it took us an hour to go from our house to his. Not that the drive was terrible, we were listening to an audio novel called "The History of Almost Everything" or something like that. It's all about physics and biographies of scientists who discovered (or at least took credit for) all the things scientific, like gravity, atoms, dinosaurs and etc. Normally that kind of book would be saved specifically for use as general anesthetic before major surgery, BUT this one happens to be very interesting and written in an entertaining manner. I recommend it highly.
But I digress.
We finally made it over to Mr. Lee's house, and there were no kids in sight. We figured the rain was putting damper (look! A pun!) on things, so we sat back and watched the FOX news channel. Yeah, I hate news. Granted, it was funny that John Kerry made a fool of himself, but I'm almost completely sure he had no real intention of insulting anyone but George Bush...sour grapes, you know.
Anyway, the rain stopped and the kids started. Having lived in the butt-crack of Limestone County for my formative years, we never really had anyone trick-or-treat at our house unless they were out scouting for some house to roll or something. Even in our neighborhood now, we rarely have anyone come to get candy. However, Mr. Lee lives in one of those neighborhoods where the houses are right up against each other and so it's possible for kids to go door to door. We had lots of them come by, and one little girl came twice. I owe that to my patented "Fistfull-Of-Candybars" passing out tactic I developed. I saw Jedi (Steve would be proud I knew at first glance what they look like), monsters, pre-pubescent girls in very inaapropriate outfits, and one kid who I couldn't place finally told me what he was. He was wearing a pink hooded sweatsuit with a red cape. I hated to admit defeat on the guessing game, but he said he was someone called Captain Underpants. This he said with a lisp, so it made it that much harder not to laugh. Who the heck is Captain Underpants? I don't know, but any super-hero who runs around in his tighty whities has got to be awesome. We even had kids come by who weren't even dressed up! The next door neighbor, who is super sweet and always reminds me of the lady who played Glinda the Good in "Wicked" brought her little girl by and we were her official FIRST TRICK-OR-TREAT! She is only about a year old, I guess, and was dressed up as this little cute witch. I knelt down to give her candy and she dove into my bowl. She also kept giving me her hat, so at least she has come kind of idea of give-and-take. At one point, two brothers came by and the first one said "Don't give my brother any candy!" and actually blocked me from getting to him. I just smiled my best "You aren't my kid, so I won't kick you" smile and put my hand into his brothers bag to drop the candy. Brother then closed the bag around my hand and pulled me several steps outside of the doorway before I jerked free. AS I was closing the door, I heard the mom say "OK, we'll take him home so you can finish." Wow. Wonder how often they have those Mom-Likes-You-Best conversations?
At about 8:00 we closed up shop and went to dinner. We discussed politics and war. So, I watched the news and had a serious conversation about such things. On Halloween. Weird things DO happen on that night!

Well, crap.
I had just typed in quite a big of my newest entry when the power blinked off and destroyed everything. I don't have the energy or the desire to retype everything, so I will just tell you about Sunday. Don't worry, you didn't miss anything! : )
Sunday, I got a case of "Laugh-In-Church" syndrome in the morning. The children's choir sand the special music and the first song had a little beat to it. Of course, the kids started swaying around (which, for a fairly conservative Baptist congregation, is quite shocking! ; ) Anyway, most of the kids just sort of swayed or bounced on their feet a little, but one little boy in the front did a little more. He's the son of our associate pastor, and as the song went on, he started doing some kind of twisty, interpretive dance. It was so funny. It didn't last long, of course, but it got me tickled. Right after that, the minister of music stood up and said "And now, if you'll join me in singing all five stanzas of 'He Keeps Me Singing'" and I got tickled again. Our song director can make any hymn as long "Free Bird", so that was justs funny to me. Granted, that shouldn't have been as funny to me as it turned out to be, but it set me off. I could barely sing for the firstt 3 verses. It would be so helpful if I could just buy a packet of dignity and composure to keep in my purse. I sure don't have any of that naturally. : )
I got my hair cut! It looks so different to me, but I think it's basically just a redux of a haircut I've had before. I need to check some pictures to make sure. It's kind of the opposite of the haircut I've had for the past couple of years, so instead of being shorter in the back and long in the front, it's layered in the front and longer in the back. When she started cutting, I got the morbid feeling that I was going to end up with a Fe-Mullet, but thank God, that didn't happen. The only problem with it I can see is now my hair tends to curl up at the ends in different directions and the shortest layer is always in my eye. Steve should like that. : ) You know, anything to cover up my face, and he's for it! My hair has also begun to turn colors for some unknown reason. I haven't colored it for a long time, so I'm not sure what's going on. In the front I have these bright strawberry blonde strands that catch the light, I have some gold colored strands scattered through the rest of my hair, I still have the dark brown, but it's got reddish streaks in it now and I have one very determined white strand of hair right in my part. I can only imagine driving around with the top down on my car this summer lightened it up a little, but I'm starting to get nervous as to what color it will eventually end up. I'm determined not to color it again, though. DETERMINED!
Well, that's about the extent of excitement in my life. I took a lot of beautiful pictures of the leaves outside of the museum yesterday and I'm going to see about putting them on my Flickr account so you can see them all. : ) Yay!
I'll be back.

Sunday Morning Blurbage...
I know it's a little early to think about my birthday, but I'm already dreading it. Don't ask me why it's bothering me now, because I have no idea. As I've mentioned, I don't hate my birthday because I'm getting older (I'll be 29...which seems weird) but because it's the day the vortex of everything bad that can happen to me opens up and follows me around for 24 hours.
I woke up this morning with a pretty good idea of what will happen on my next birthday and now I dread it even more.
I'm SO not even getting out of bed that day.

Well, this isn't good...
I just went outside to take a look at a couple of signs that I needed to replace. I didn't actually NEED to go out, but from the lofty heights of my office (i.e. roof is in the way, so I couldn't see the ground) it didn't look like it was raining that hard. So out I went and realized fairly quickly that it was umbrella weather. Armed with the umbrella and my lab coat, I ventured out into the monsoon. Apparently the SpRocket is built on an undulating series of downhill waves which seem to defy the laws of physics, because everywhere you walk, the water is flowing in a different direction. However, they all have one thing in common. I stepped into a puddle nearly every step I took. My jeans are wet to the knees and my shoes are soaked through to my socks. It's a very unplesant feeling. Now I'm back in my office in the in between stages of being wet and cold/ warm and drying off. I don't think I like this feeling.
You know, off the subject, but does it bother anyone else that KFC has been using the song "Sweet Home Alabama" in it's commercials? I'm not sure that I catch how that ties in.
Other than the rain, the SpRocket is beautiful! The maples in the parking lot are all different colors and the leaves are so perfect that you'd think they were painted. One of my favorite trees is still partly green, but also turning gold and has patches of dark burgandy leaves all over it. I can't imagine living anywhere that didn't have trees that change color. I'm convinced that God has this hobby of painting leaves every year and plans ahead to make the next one more beautiful than the last. In heaven, a whole section of trees will always be autumn colors. I hope anyway!

RANDOM ACTS OF BLOGGING
1) I do not have idle hands. I realized this the other day when I had a red scarf tied around my purse that I ended up messing with the WHOLE evening. I tied it in my hair, around my waist, around my arm, around my friend, I used it as a lasso...just all kinds of crazy things. I've also notcied I do this with the juniper seed necklace that Mr. Lee brought me back from out west. Apparently I do this either when I'm nervous or when I just don't know what to do with myself. If anything is within reach of me, I'm going to mess with it. If there is nothing to play with, I play with my hair. I hope that's not annoying!
2) I've seen a LOT of people abusing the leggings that are oh-so-stylish these days. Either wear pantyhose or DON'T, people! They are NOT cute! This whole 80s fashion redux thing is not cute either. I don't care if you are Sandra Bullock, a bubble dress isn't flattering on a grown woman. Oh, yeah, I had one once. It was mint green with poofy sleeves, but I was 9. Also, rouching just makes it look slept in. So put down the 80s clothes and back slowly away...
3) I gesticulate quite wildly when I talk. Maybe this goes along with the non-idle hands business or something. I make a lot of messes this way! : )
4) I had a dream last night that was so strange. I dreamed I was walking through an aquarium and the fish started jumping out of the containers and flinging themselves at me. I was having to pick them up and put them back in the water before they died, but I was grossed out about having to touch them. Also, a gecko in a terrarium threw gravel at me that stuck in my hair. At some point later, I was helping someone put the tank cover back on their toilet and they locked me in their bathroom. Who wants to interpret that one? Eh?
I'm stopping here for now!

And now, the next edition of
"WHO 'DAT? WHO 'DERE?"
The other morning, we had a farewell breakfast for one of our co-workers who got a job with Delta and will soon be moving to Atlanta. As part of our festivities, our VP wanted a group picture that the guy leaving could take with him. Here it is! I decided to post it so you will know the people I work with.

Starting Top Row, Left:
Sam: He is my immediate boss. I'm his assistant, so when he doesn't have time to do something, I do it! He's the one who made all of the Ms. Baker masks (and so I gave him a monkey in honor of that). He's really, very cool.
Jennifer: I'm not really sure what Jennifer does exactly, but I know she travels a lot and stays busy. She's also a dance instructor and she rides bicycles in really long races for fun.
Al: Al used to work for one of the local news programs a while back and now he's the media liasion between the Sprocket and the world. He's really funny and makes great chili! He's also a very good story teller, so if you ever get a chance to hear him tell the toilet story, you'll laugh till you throw up. : )
Amy: Amy is our Marketing director. She shills for money and publicity and can pretty much talk anyone into anything! She's really nice and funny, and LOUD.
Rodney: Rod is the senior designer in our department. You've probably seen something he's designed if you've ever gotten an ad, calender, or program guide for camp. He's also really sweet AND he just got engaged!
Starting Bottom Left:
Ed: I had to Photoshop Ed into the picture because he had to miss the breakfast. Awwww. Granted, it's not a very good patch job, but at least he's in there! As we all know, Ed is the devil.
Holly: Holly is the senior VP of Marketing for the SpRocket. She gets very nervous, but she's very good at her job! She and Amy started at about the same time, so they work well together and can be mean to each other without one of them getting fired. : )
Roderick: Roderick is the guy who just left us. He was the web master for the Space Camp web pages as well as the museum. We'll miss him! He was always asking me how to spell stuff, and we all know, that doesn't happen that often.
and finally
Me: You know me, but I liked the picture, so I didn't block myself out of it this time. Don't you just love my skully head scarf? : )
That is all.

WEEKEND UPDATE!
Wooo-Hoooo! Okay, well, I don't think my weekend can warrant a woo-hoo, but it wasn't bad!
Friday after work, I was exhausted. While I knew I would be going to the United Way Chili Cook-Off, I didn't realize that I would be serving as a waitress for the judges. Who knew that a couple of hours walking back and forth in Nancy Sinatra boots would be so tiring. Although I don't think being a waitress would be something I want to try, I didn't do too badly AND I didn't spill anything on myself! Yay!
Anyway...
When I got home, I changed into comfy clothes and Steve and I stretched out for a nap. Unfortunately the phone rang and Steve was reminded that he had made plans to go to the theater with Anthony (oops) so he jumped up and ran off, leaving me alone and bereft for the evening. Well, not so bereft, if you want me to be honest. I took my power nap and then began working on my newest Graphics project. It's been a long road, but I finally figured out what to do. It's supposed to be a self-promotion project. We make 3 "teaser" postcards that let the potential employee know that something will be sent to them, and then we have to make an object that not only reflects us as people, but also describes us as designers, and incorporates our resume in some clever way. Kenny and Steve both tried to help me think of something, but we didn't come up with anything! Finally I decided to use my new found prowess with polymer clay and make 4 (surprisingly realistic) clay chocolates with Magnets on the back. I made a candy box and a big tag for it that says "With Other Designers, You Never Know What You're Going To Get." My resume will be folded up on the inside like those "Chocolate Maps" that you get to tell you wha pieces are in the box! So, they have my resume, magnets that they can use for practial purposes and the knowledge that I am a fantastic designer that they would love to have on staff! I hope, anyway. : )
Saturday Steve was off doing his own thing and I had all kinds of stuff planned to do. I worked for several hours on my project and had lunch. I was just about to get ready and run all of my errands when all of the awake left my body. No big deal, right? Take a quick nap and everything will be fine! Well, not so much. I fell into a deep and sodden sleep that lasted for 3 1/2 hours. I didn't get to go run my errands and I missed the Star Wars wedding, much to my chagrin, but I did wake up in time to get ready for my date with Steve and Josh. Since we had planned on going to my class reunion (Josh was going as Sara's date) and since the reunion was cancelled, we had all decided to get dresed up and go out anyways. Well, then Sara had to go and get herself an organ donor (Some people are so self centered! :) so it was just going to be us three. We decided to go to 801 Franklin and have dinner. As I was getting ready, I decided that I wanted my hair to be curly, so I broke out the seldom used hot rollers and put them in my hair. I used to be a faithful hot roller using person back in the day. Every day I would have big, giant, country-music-award hair, but for the mid 90s, it looked good! Well, apparently the way my hair is cut now is so different than the way it used to be that when I took the rollers out...I looked like Gilda Radner doing Rosanne Rosanna-Danna! Wow, my hair was HUGE. So I spent the next hour or so trying to tone it down a little. by the time Josh got there, I had managed to corral my hair into a managable 1940's looking wave complete with a flower pin clipped into it. The pin was probably a bit much, but without it, one side of my head exploded into a curly mess while the other side looked decent. At any rate, I looked cute. : ) So we went out to dinner and ended the evening at the local Starbucks sipping latte's, Pelagrino, and evesdropping on a conversation that a guy was having with his girlfriend's parents, whom he was meeting for the first time. Very, very uncomfortable stuff. Good times.
Sunday was weird. I was fine when I woke up, and was getting ready for church when I bent down to get something underneath the bed and immediately started feeling sick. Not throw-up sick, but just...ill. Steve had to go on to church without me and I had to call my mom to let her know I was not going to make it over for lunch. By the time I did that, I was freezing and couldn't get warm. I ended up piling on all kinds of clothes and blankets and falling asleep on the couch. I slept nearly all day. Even when I woke up, I was too tired to move, so I lay on the couch with the hood of my jacket pulled up and tied so that only my eyes and nose peeked out, covered with my blanket until almost 4 o'clock. By then I was feeling a little better, and no longer cold, so I got up and worked on some homework and played a computer game. I went back and forth from lying on the couch to sitting at the computer until it was time for bed. I have no idea what was wrong with me, but hopefully it won't happen again for a long time!
Oh, and an update on Sara and her transplant: Friday they had to take her into surgery due to a bleeding problem. It wasn't serious, so it was taken care of with little to no fuss and they had her sitting up for a while. From the news I'm getting, she seems to be doing really well and hopefully will be moved into the recovery house where she will live for a couple of months while she's kept under observation. Please keep her in your prayers and I'll pass on news when I get it!

LATEST UPDATE!
Well, I got two more e-mails about my friend, and everything seems to have gone well. She got 5 organs and the surgery took 12.5 hours. Her mom thought she'd be all out of it after her procedure, but she popped up and waved to her. She also asked her mom to bring her some stuff so she could fix her hair. :) That sounds exactly like her, alright. They also believe that if everything keeps going well, she may be able to start eating real food again in about 7-10 days! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO Transplant Team!
So today is the day of the United Way/Space Camp anniversary thing, and I am indeed sitting here in my Pink Lady costume. It's freaking HOT, too. I think whomever made it lined it with plastic and solar blankets because the least little bit of exertion while I'm wearing it and I feel like I'm on fire. Oh well, at least I look cute. Apparently, the Pink Lady is something that was created when Space Camp had just started and was supposed to be what the tour guides were supposed to dress as. Hmmmmmmm, I don't think so. Wearing an orange flight suit was bad enough, but I don't think I could have stood dressing like That Girl every day. One of the things that was done, was my boss made a bunch of "Ms. Baker on a stick" fans. It's the head of a monkey with the eyes cut out with a stick stapled to the back. It can be used as a fan or a mask, but they are creepy looking little things. I spent the last part of my day cutting out monkey heads. I had nightmares...seriously.
This weekend, I'm going to crash a wedding! It's not just any wedding, though, it's a Star Wars themed wedding that is being held out here at the SpRocket! They are going to wear COSTUMES and everything! The special events coordinator told me about it and I have the severe desire to come and watch it. At least I have my badge to explain why I'm there, in case anyone says anything.
My class reunion was canceled. :( I was actually starting to look forward to it. There wasn't enough interest in it to go ahead with the plans. As small of a class as we had, that is really surprising. I'd figure we'd all have to come and just see who was still living with their parents! Nah, we actually had a lot of successful people in our class. Several nurses, a college professor, one guy has even cut a record and it's going to be out soon. I'd heard snips of it and it's actually really good! There are a lot of other people who did well, and then a lot of people who just had a LOT of kids. One guy died and one girl went blind, so that's really sad. However, I'm pretty sure almost everyone did something productive at least. It would have been nice to see everyone, but oh well, I'm not going to cry about it. Most of them just thought I was weird, anyways, and probably think I joined some kind of hippy, Star Trek cult in Montana. Little do they know what an illustrious career I ended up with! : )
I've hurt my back and I have no idea how! I thought it happened when I fell out of my chair, but I'm pretty sure that it would have gone away by now. It hurts to sit for very long, but I don't really have much of a choice. I have to stand up and do yoga stretches every once in a while, so if you see me do this, or I stand up while I'm talking to you and contort myself, I'm not ignoring you! It just feelins like it needs to be popped, but doing that doesn't help! I spent 28 years avoiding sports to keep from stuff like this, so who knows where this came from!
I embarrassed this guy I work with yesterday. Well, actually, HE embarrassed himself, but only because A) he's a pervert and B)he misunderstood something I was talking about. I stopped to say hello to him on my way to return a security vest to the Bush Room. I held it up to look at it for the first time since picking it up and mentioned that it reminded me of my candy striper outfit. He kind of smiled at me and asked what outfit and I said "Oh, well, it was really just a vest like this, but stiped red and white." He got this look on his face that looked slightly letchorus and said "Oh really?" I said "Yeah, but I always wore it over a red skirt and white shirt, so it was a whole uniform. I was twelve at the time." He turned bright red and started stammering "Oh, you really worked in the hospital". Apparently he thought I was telling him about some weird...activities I participated in that involved dressing like a candy striper. Now, let's see if this man can look me in the eye again for the rest of the year!

UPDATE!
I got the following message from a friend of the friend I've been talking about for the past few days:
she went in for surgery about 7 am our time and is scheduled to be there for up to 18 hours...
They have decided to do a liver, small intestine, large intestine, stomach, pancreas, and spleen transplant, although some of that may change once they get in there and see what all they are dealing with... her mom said that the donor came from in-house, so they didn't have to transport the organs, which is good news...
So here's to hoping. Please remember to say a little prayer!
AND RANDOM PICTURENESS
The other day I was looking at some kind of randompost full of pictures and I came across this one:

I'm not sure why that strikes me as hilarious, but it does!
SOCKS!
I finally found some socks to replace the ones that I tore on New Years Eve. The colors are not as varied as the old ones, and the stripes are a little wider, but each toe is a different color,or almost, so they make me happy!

MY CO-WORKERS LOVE ME
I was out one day last week, and when I came back this was on my door:

That sign normally says "Gone To Class", so when people come to my door and it's closed, they don't wait out there all day knocking. However, Ed thought it would be funny to change it while I was away and hope I wouldn't notice. Oh, I noticed, and so did the mail guy and the fire marshall! It's a good thing I like Ed! : )
and one last picture I like to call FUN WITH PHOTOSHOP!
Last weekend I was messing around while some paint was drying and I decided to see if my Halloween false eyelashes looked like something I could wear out of the house. Well, I got a little carried away! : ) The picture is Photoshopped, of course, but the makeup and fan was real. I'm just glad nobody came to the door! That would have seemed strange, indeed!

I had a hard time not smiling when I took that picture. I look like a clown, plus I think I have eyes that are unusually big for my head. I think I'm part alien or something. So have a laugh on me, and I hope the rest of your day is wonderful!

WELL, CRAP...
Yesterday when I got home, the friend I was talking about yesterday had written me an e-mail. Apparently when they got down to Miami, all of the organs she needed from her donor weren't viable, so the transplant surgery was a no go. So that sucks a lot, but at least she was put at the head of the list in case another donor with her match came available. The way the people drive in Miami, though, you wouldn't think she'd have to wait very long. She was back home yesterday aftrenoon.
For the love of PETE AND ALL OF HIS FAMILY...can't a sista get a liver?!
HOWEVER...
I got an e-mail from her again this morning saying that they got a call again at 5:00 this morning stating that another potential donor had become available and she and her mom had to go back to thte airport and fly back down to Miami again! So hopefully, as I type this, she's actually getting whatever she needs to have transplanted...planted.
May this be a reminder for all of us as to how important it is to be an organ donor! I mean, I hate the fact that someone has to kick it to provide someone else with an organ, but...geez.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend, the one who was so sick and needed the liver and etc. transplants, got a donor!!!!!!!!!!!
She sent a mass e-mail message on Saturday morning while she was at the airport waiting for her flight to Miami. I didn't get it until this morning, but I cannot tell you how much better that makes my day! I haven't gotten any more messages from her mom, so I choose to believe that no news is good news.
She still has a long way to go and will still need prayers, so I hope that everyone who reads this will remember her and pray for her protection and for her to get well soon.
I've been in my office crying like a lunatic. I can only remember crying out of joy once in my life, but now I have done it twice. : )
WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'll keep everyone posted!

I KNEW IT!!!!
That smug little S.O.B of a teacher hated everything. Not just my stuff, but everything! There were some really and truly awesome designs and he dogged everyone. He said that he didn't even want to grade them as is, because he wouldn't be able to give more than a B- on the best one, so he wants us to go back and make the changes he requested...nay...demanded, and he will regrade them. It's not even that the designs were bad for the most part, they just weren't his style! Normally I like that teacher fine, but I wanted to smack him with my boot yesterday. *UGH*
Another thing that ticked me off about him. He has said that we couldn't turn in our work late unless we had the excuse of illness (documented), death (ours) or some other unavoidable and equally horrible thing. Well, Half-Naked-Italian-Exchange-Student didn't have her stuff in or ready to critique...so guess what the new rule is for this project? Those of us who busted our humps to get everything in on time will get 4 extra points...and anyone who was late will not get a penalty.
I would like to hook the eyes right out of his skull. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
In other, and much more plesant news...
Last night I went to Cullman to have dinner with Kenny! Well, we didn't end up eating anything since neither one of us were hungry, but we had a very lovely evening talking and once again learning how to make slideshow presentations on Flash. We finally figured out how to lazy-fy it so that Kenny doesn't have to make a whole new presentation every time he wants to. Goooooooooo us! Well, I say "we" figured it out, but it was really me. No matter what Kenny says.
He started out the evening scaring me to death, though. I was sitting in the rocking chair waiting on him, half asleep and my mind in a whole other dimention, when out of nowhere a set of keys hits me right in the chest. I'm not sure if you've ever been in the midst of a reverie and are suddenly assasulted with cold, metal objects, but it's kind of frightning. My first thought was...well, a very rude word, and then I realized that there was a set of keys hooked to my shirt. My next thought was, "I hope these are Kenny's keys, because I don't want to have to cut someone I have never met before...in Cullman no less." Apparently Kenny had not meant to crack my sternum with his keys, but only to throw them past me. He's just got really bad aim. :)
On the way home I had to take a detour because there was a gas leak somewhere on my route and they had blocked off Hwy 20, so that added some time to my getting home-ness, but it wasn't too bad.
It's cold in my office...FINALLY! I love fall. : )

An open letter to the iPod wearing, bicycle riding idiot I almost creamed with my car,
Dear guy,
I appreciate the fact that you live on campus and have the luxury of riding your bike around rather than driving a car. I can also appreciate the fact that you are doing this because that is one less SUV I have to battle for a parking place. However, please keep in mind that your bike is no match for my Seabring and I will run your butt over if you dart out in front of me without looking again. I also remember you from the other day when I was waking along the crosswalk and you almost hit me with your bike. I realize you probably have some really serious tunes streaming into your head via the white ear plugs, but that is no excuse for buzzing me with your Schwinn. I am not above suffering a broken leg if it means I get to kick you and your bike over in the middle of the street. Sorry to be mean about it, but people like you should be wearing a harness and be led around by your moms, if for no other reason than you have no idea how to propel yourself in public places.
Yours truly,
Kelly
ANYWAYS...
So! Guess who made an A- on her history exam? ME! Of course, why else would I take the time to write about it if it wasn't me? :) The teacher said I was off to a Good (underlined) start and all I need to work on is citing my sources. My essay on the Ara Pacis (Augustan Alter of Peace) was pretty much only marked because of that. *Spirit Fingers* That was a load off of my mind, quite honestly, because I was sure there were all kinds of holes in the thing. WHEW.
Today I had a Dr. appointment and I have a project due in my Graphics class. I'm unusually proud of how my project turned out, which is almost proof positive that the teacher will hate it. Oh well, I like it. He can bite me.
I am so tired. I haven't gotten my daily dose of caffine yet, so I expect to be freebasing Mountain Dew as soon as class is over.
Well, class is starting! I'll be back!

Looks like somebody's got a case of the Mondays. : )
Well, it's Monday again, folks. Once again the weekend seemed to be only long enough to do laundry and that sort of thing. I did have a nice weekend, though. What? You want to know what I did? OK!
WEEKEND UPDATE!
Friday didn't seem to ever want to end. I had been surprisingly busy catching up some older projects, so I stayed out of trouble. I had to apply decals to one of the new-ish trucks the Center bought from the city. When I got outside armed with my work kit and decals, I realized that they had parked on an incline. Therefore, the level I use when putting car decals on was rendered useless. Who knows if I got them on straight. After work, we had planned to go to dinner with everyone. Josh was late again, of course, but Shannon, Greg, Steve and I got there on time. We had a lot of fun, as we normally do, but we didn't get to go on and do anything else as a group because something complicated and technical happened at the SpaceDome while we were at Chili's, so Greg and Steve (because he's smart like that) went over to check it out. Apparently it was just some blown fuses or something of that nature and was easily fixed.
Saturday I was actually successful in getting some things done! I didn't let myself take a nap or anything. I cleaned the kitchen and did laundry, worked on some Christmas gifts I'm making and tidied up a bit. Not enough to make a difference, but enough that I wouldn't fall over anything in case I walked down the hallway. : ) Steve had gone to Birmingham to see the UAB game with Anthony, and I had an exam I needed to study for, but since there is really no place for me to study without major distractions, I took myself to the Coffee Tree to study there. I have since decided that my friend who sings there, the one who invited me there and then ignored me for two hours, was no longer dead to me, PLUS, I figured that if he was still going to ignore me I'd get more studying done. Surprisingly enough, he didn't ignore me, I did actually get to study, and I had a great time. Bolstered by the largest latte I'd actually ever seen, I learned quite a bit about Roman structures and what they are used for. I also sang with Jason's band, uninvited, because I grabbed the drummer's maracas and played along with a few of their songs. Maracas, you say? Yep. Amazingly enough, they use some auxilliry percussion with some of their songs. I felt like the little tambourine girl from the Partridge family, but I didn't care. It was fun. Poor Steve got home from the ballgame feeling sick. I was cold from eating ice cream, so we couldn't tell if he had a fever. I tried using the ear thermometer thingie, but it was stuck on celcius, so we had no idea what his temperature was. :(
Sunday we woke up and Steve was still sick. I got ready for church and decided to wear my new tweed suit before I add all of the Space Camp stuff to it. I had already hemmed it (I had to cut 4 inches off of the skirt. Who do they make these things for?!) and when I put it on, I was once again assured that it was not my style. I looked like Daisy Duke had eaten Allie McBeal. Steve said I looked alright, though, so I didn't change. I was late getting to church because I had overslept, plus there was a horrible wreck on the road that I take to church. I tried to cut through the block of subdivisions nearby, but only ended up in a cul-de-sac and right back on the road I started out on. Luckily the clean up was almost done, so I was able to get around it. I did get there in time to do my secretary stuff, so it wasn't a big deal. It was kind of funny. A lot of people who saw me said I looked "so nice!" and "you look so pretty!" I'm not complaining, trust me, I don't get that very often.:) However, I couldn't figure out why I was getting all of these compliments until Matt, my dear friend Matt, who has the same problem as I do about foot in mouth issues, came up to me. He saw me and said "Wow, you don't look like yourself today." I explained about the suit and what I was going to use it for. I ended by saying "It's not really my style I guess." Matt said "No, it isn't! You look so modest and ladylike!"
Wow.
Since he didn't realize what he just said, I didn't mention it, but it took everything I had not to laugh. It's good to know somebody notices that I try to dress like the whore of Babylon on Sundays! I was beginning to think my efforts were in vain! :) I probably would have been insulted had he not been so simply honest about it, so it was more funny than anything. It was also the day we had the Lord's Supper. When I got passed the little plate of chicklet sized bread thingies, I don't know what happened, but I picked one up and smashed the thing to bits. It was like "HULK LOVE JESUS! HULK SMASH!" I had tiny bits of the body of Christ all over my lap. I'm glad we don't believe in transubstantiation. That would have probably pinched. I didn't think it was appropriate to brush communion wafers into the floor, so I picked the tiny pieces of unlevened bread off of my skirt and piled them onto the biggest piece I had left. I'm glad it took a few minutes before the preacher gave us the go ahead to eat it so that I could get it all.
Later that day, Steve was still sick and I had to study some more, so he slept while I had some quiet to write my preliminary essay about the Ara Pacis. Fun stuff...let me tell you!
When it was finally time to go to bed, Steve and I were lying there talking for a minute. I had my head on his leg and when I was moving to put my head on my pillow, I made a noise that made Steve think I was going to tickle him. I promise you, my hands never moved and I didn't have any intentions of actually tickling him, but he went into Arasha Cage Ninja mode and moved his arm to protect himself. When he did this, he elbowed me so hard in the back of the head that I saw stars. I had to lie there for a long time just holding my head to keep my brains in. I swear, little sparks of light danced in front of my eyes. He said I hurt his elbow and then I spent the next twenty minutes or so making him feel guilty for doing a wrestling moved to the back of my head. Then we both started laughing and couldn't stop. I have a big lump on the back of my head this morning, and Steve has a bruised elbow.
I'm going to have to start sleeping in a football helmet! :)

RANDOM LINKIES!
*You've got to be kidding me. Bling H20. Isn't this one of the signs of the apocolypse?
*If you love cuteness as much as I do, get an overload of it! Cute Overload.
*Fark! Fark! Fark!
*In the mood for something strange? Strange Products.
*Junk Food Blog. Pretty self explanitory.
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you my latest embarrassment. :(
Wednesday I came to work wearing a shirt that has a very generous neckline. Normrally I have to pin it up to keep some things mysterious between me and the rest of the world, but I was in such a hurry to get to work that I forgot the pins. Long story short...I know-I couldn't believe it was possible either...I stopped to speak to the head of security and his assistant on my way to my office and I accidentally flashed them. *dies*
I suppose to look on the bright side, I shouldn't have much of a problem getting an armed escort to my car should I need one!

*crawls out from under desk*
Sorry about the episode yesterday. It dawned on me fairly suddenly that I'm stressed. Since it would be imprudent to actually throw a fit and break things, I felt it would be cathartic to express myself in writing. Although the satisfying sound of breaking glass didn't accompany it, it did make me feel better. : )
...BECAUSE THERE IS NO "I" IN TEAM
Since I work for the marketing department of the SpRocket, I have to go to a weekly meeting where I am probably the person least able to contribute anything to it. Since I mainly work in house, I don't have a great deal of things to tell them about when we go around the room and talk about what we're working on. In fact, it's become somewhat of a joke that when it's my turn to speak, all I have to do is say "Signs" and they nod and move on. Even though I don't have a real function in marketing, except for making the signs that other people take on trips and such, I still have to be a team player when it comes to departmental events.
The SpRocket is a big supporter of the United Way and every year we have several big fund raising activities. This year we are once again having a Chili Cookoff with "celebrity" (koff koff) judges and everything. However, since we are also having the big kickoff for the 25th Anniversary of Space Camp (trumpet fanfare) at the same time, we are going to be doing some things to bring that to the forefront and tie it in with our United Way events. Our VP is a big believer in making this anniversary a big deal, and she told us at the meeting yesterday that she wanted everyone in our department to participate in some way. I've never made chili in my life, so that was a negative for me, not to mention that each pot of chili has to be made with 25 ingredients to be entered this year. Just the thought of that scares me! I also have the problem with people not trusting anything I cook, so I refused to bake or cook anything else that I will just have to throw away later. There was really only one other alternative, and that was to volunteer to dress up as a "Pink Lady." No, not the Pink Ladies from Grease, just FYI. Apparently when they began Space Camp, they had a character called the "Pink Lady" who was basically a stewardess who wore a pink suit that had Space Camp logos on the hat and coat. Very frightening. I'm all about wearing costumes, so I said I would do that and come to the chili cookoff and do whatever it is a "Pink Lady" is supposed to do. I had to go to Wal-Mart and buy a very Jackie Kennedy lavender-ish (closest thing that they had to pink) tweed suit, which is SO not my style, and I have to figure out how to make a pillbox hat to match, but I have a plan. They said I could get creative with the costume, so I'm going to change all the buttons, trim it in black, shorten the skirt and see if I can't make it a little more interesting. As soon as I have it done, pictures will be posted. : )
Now, if you don't mind, I have some work to do.
*large intake of breath*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*throws shoes and other small objects and breaks windows as well as scaring the guy in the next office who closes his door in case I've finally snapped and brought a gun to work and plan on picking off my co-workers (luckily this isn't the case)*
*Another intake of breath*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*slams office door and rips things off of the walls and takes it all out on the roof and throws it over the side, narrowly missing a group of school children on a fieldtrip.*
*walks back inside, crawls under the desk and remains there in the fetal position for the remainder of the day*
This mental breakdown was brought to you today by the letters K and R and by the number 3.

Yesterday I was being stalked by a giant praying mantis. I'm not exaggerating when I say giant because that thing was about 6 inches long. I have never seen a praying mantis that huge before and I honestly hope never to see another one.
As I've mentioned, because the air conditioner has been broken, we've been leaving the roof access doors open to let some air in. Luckily they come equipped with screened doors and mine just happened to be closed. I saw what I thought was a stick somehow caught on the screen door, but when I got close enough, it moved. I immediately got the heebs. I threw stuff at the screen and yelled at it to go away, but that didn't work. It just stood there, watching me. It hung around watching me for 4 hours. Nothing I could do or say would make it fly, or whatever praying manti do for transport, away. I finally had to close the glass door and tape up the opening where the lock would go (if I had one) because I felt that if somehow that thing got into the screen door around the edges and got into my office, I would die. I'd literally die. You could see it's PUPILS it was so big, and it followed me as I walked around the office because I'd be at my drafting table, and it would be looking in the window. I would go to my desk and it would climb back onto the screen door. Why is it when you finally realize you're scared to death of something, they seem to be EVERYWHERE!
I'm getting the creeps again just thinking about it. Bleh........*shudder*

Something weird is going on.
I've lost two things lately that bother me, simply because I don't see how I've lost them.
I lost a gallon jug of milk. Steve said he didn't throw any away and I certainly know I didn't throw it away. How can one lose a gallon of milk?
I also lost my office wrist rest. It had torn open and I needed to sew it up, so I set it aside until I got around to it. I then reached over several days later to fix it, and it was gone. I know I didn't move it, and I know I didn't throw it away, but it's gone.

Weekend Update! Woooooo!
Well, as a whole my weekend was interesting for one good reason. I got to expirence first hand what bad withdrawl is like. Since my last trip to the doctor, I have been doing a drug trial for an...illness I suppose you can call it...I have. The medicine has had some not-so-great side effects, but it has been somewhat useful in helping me. My doctor had given me enough of the medicine to last two months, but unfortunately, I didn't have enough to make it from one appointment to another. Since I am hoping to try another kind of medicine, and didn't want to pay for part of a prescription of this stuff I didn't like, I ill advisedly decided I would just not worry about it and just wait until I went back to the doctor to worry about anything.
Bad idea.
Apparently, this medicine can't be stopped cold turkey. So for several days now, I've alternately been so wired I couldn't sleep, so sleepy I couldn't stay awake, breaking out into a sweat, freezing to death, shaking so hard I could barely hold a pencil and having to walk hunched over like a little old woman because my back hurt so bad. Also, and I have to admit I thought this one was funny, several times I'd get up and just fall over sideways. Luckily I was always able to catch myself before hitting the floor! Not so much fun, all in all. However, I do have a very dear friend who was once on this medication and he passed on enough to me to get me to my next appointment. I hate it, but it's better than the alternative!
Other than that, I had a very nice weekend!
Friday night Steve and I didn't go anywhere specific. We just hung out. Actually, Steve fell asleep for a while when he came home from work, I made burritos, and we ended up watching Sling Blade. Well, actually, Steve watched Sling Blade and I listened to it from another room. I watched the beginning of it and decided it was too sad. I enjoyed what I heard, but of course I ended up crying at the end. I don't like movies that make me cry!
I don't like to cry in front of other people, not even Steve. If you've ever seen me cry, one of three things has happened: A)You have caught me in the midst of a despair that I can't fake my way out of. B) You have hurt my feelings and I couldn't get away from you fast enough to cry in the privacy of a bathroom or closet somewhere, or C) The Notebook is on. However, I digress.
So after the movie goes off, Steve is walking around talking like the Sling Blade guy. I had to threaten him with bodily harm to make him stop.
Saturday Steve went to Six Flags with some folks from church and I spent the morning shopping with my favorite Evil Monkey. Sara and I went to the mall to try and find her a dress to wear for our class reunion. We found out quickly that her failsafe reserve dress and the dress I'm going to wear are the same (in different colors) so we went everywhere in the mall that could possibly have a dress she could get. No dice, though. We've found that with this heinous 80s revival thing going on, most appropriately dressy dresses are fugly. She did try on several nice ones, but didn't find anything she loved enough to get. I'm thinking we are just going to have to accesorize differently so that no one thinks we Pookie-Dressed on purpose! :) Later that evening, after the scary one and I parted ways, I made a run to the dollar store to get some paper towels and heeded the call of Cheeburger Cheeburger. I haven't had a burger from there in so long...*drool* I got one to go and spent my dinner time watching a Spongebob Squarepants marathon. Don't blame me for that one, I still can't figure out how to play a DVD.
Sunday I went to church but had to come home before service started because my back hurt too badly to sit up for very long. I went to my parent's for lunch and found out that the auction of my grandmother's property had happened the day before and everything was gone. :( I knew it was coming, and I shouldn't be sad, but I am. Although I got everything of hers that I could have possibly wanted, I still don't like the fact that now other people own her stuff. The thing that made me the saddest was that they sold the wooden high chair. Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever want to have kids, but I guess I always thought that if I did have them, they'd get to sit in it like every other child in our family has. Oh well. Once I got home, my back was hurting again so badly that I had to lie down again and I was in another episode of shaking, freezing and falling over, so I stayed home from church that night. Luckily I was able to get the back up medicine before I went to bed that night and now feel much better.
That is all.

THE DREAMS ARE BACK...WITH A VENGEANCE!
Wow. I had the strangest dream last night. It's surprising, because for the last two months or so, I haven't had that many memorable dreams. I have always had such vivid dreams that it became a joke in my family that I would spend whole mornings telling people about them, but lately I haven't been able to remember any of them.
Last night changed that!
Far be it from me to bore you all with every minute detail, but I will give you an overview. First some background!
There was a spider in our mail yesterday. Not just a little one, either, and I didn't realize it until I was leafing through it in the car. I move over a Netflix envelope and Shelob runs out from under it. There are many words that describe the surprise of finding a spider in your mail, but none of them are appropriate to put in a blog read by several of my beloved church family! So I throw the mail to the floor of the passenger side and begin beating it, hoping to smash the spider in between the Alabama Baptist and the book of coupons. I pulled the mail back, piece by piece, but didn't find the mangled remains of the spider. This caused be some concern because I didn't want to driving along one day and suddenly have a bug on me somewhere! So I began searching in earnest, and it wasn't until I was about to give up, when I noticed the big spider sitting on my gear knob (that I had just been bending over) watching me! *BLECK!* Needless to say, I grabbed some piece of mail and sqashed Mr. Spider. Ew. I have a nameless dread of all things creepy and crawly, and although I have learned to kill spiders, that is all I can bring myself to do. So, anyway, I believe this is the basis for my bizarre dream.
I dreamed I wasn't married (no that's not the scary part) and lived in a community of people who worked at a nearby college. I was dating some guy who was working in genetics, and had a fondness for splicing animal genes to make new and exciting (and as it turns out very dangerous) critters. The first thing that I came across was some kind of lobster-person-bat-scorpion thing that skittered around the room like a big spider. It tried to kill me with it's big stinger. It was horribly disgusting, and I can't do justice by just describing it. I could get away from it, but it was always after me! Boyfriend (cause I'd never seen him before and don't know his name) kept having to chase it down and trap it inside a plastic bag. He assured me it was harmless and he'd take care of it. He lied. Later I kept seeing him with all of these other weird and deformed animals, each of them dangerous and trying to kill people. I found out later that it wasn't just the gene splicing he was playing with, he had developed some kind of liquid that accelerated gene mutation and would cause these animals to go crazy. Boyfriend apparently had accidentally ingested some of whatever it was and went Dr. Jeckel & Mr. Hyde on us. Me, and one of boyfriend's friends, had to get away from him because where the animals were just sort of mindlessly killing, he could think! We had to hide in the college. It finally got so bad that a bunch of people had to barracade themselves inside a lecture hall. There was more, but that is the gist.
The dream, although scary AND which would make a fairly decent B grade SciFi channel movie, wasn't the weirdest part.
I woke up after having this dream. I knew I'd been tossing and turning and gernerally not resting well, but I didn't stay awake for long. When I went back to sleep, my brain gave me a RECAP of the dream and then went on to finish it! Not only did I have a wild dream for the first time in a million years, but now my dreams are starting out like episodes of Battlestar Galactica! "Previously in Kelly's Dreams..."
Anyways, just thought I'd share!

Going to class in the fine arts building is an interesting study in sociology. Giving yet another proof of the old cliche "Never judge a book by it's cover", the students I come in contact with from day to day are mostly unclassifiable. I mean, sure, you have the goth/emo kids who painfully dress as mismatched as possible in the effort to look as if they woke up and threw on the first thing that they found bunched up in the bottom of their closets (but you know they probably tried on AT LEAST three different sarcastic Hot-Topic t-shirts before they found the right one) and the soroity girls who have so many Greek letters on them that you start feeling as if your on vacation at the Parthanon. However, it's the ones you can't quite figure out that are so interesting.
Take for instance the guys I've met in my trek through UAH. I can never tell who I should avoid and who is going to end up being a friend. You've got the blue-haired, tattooed guy with the facial piercings and the t-shirt that says "Satan is my Homeboy" who ends up being a sweet, gentle soul who holds doors open for you and talks about his cat like it's his child. Then you have the well groomed, Abercrombie & Fitch poster boy with the Jesus fish on his car who you overhear talking about being wasted all weekend and who will all but knock you down to get into the elevator before you do. The chicks are pretty much the same. The scary lesbian with the mullet ends up being the nice one and the little, blonde, twinset lady with her little, blonde, bow wearing daughter ends up being the one who shouts at you for your Christian beliefs and makes the weird art with images of women giving birth that-she-took-herself!
I'm not sure why this is something I've never noticed, or never really thought about, before. Do you?

Now I've pretty much heard everything.
Did you know that they have a MySpace type website for your dogs? You put in their picture and their bio and they can even make "pals" with other dogs. You can even give your dog a blog if you are so inclined. I think you can even sign up cats!
Of course I signed up, are you nuts?! Here are the pages for Butler and Bear. If you sign up your pet, make sure to send a "pal" request.
Don't judge me.

After this weekend, I feel as if I should be in traction.
All in all, the weekend was almost uneventful. I slept a lot, listened to "Pride and Prejudice" on the iPod and did the dishes. I've also become violently addicted to Tetris, which Steve installed on my PC. I can't stop playing it! I've turned into the "Just one more game and I"ll stop" person. Sad, I know.
Very exciting stuff, no? :0)
Actually, I had a rather relaxing weekend except for two things.
Saturday I was at my desk in my office. Both of my big computers are on one desk, so it's easy for me to transfer images and files without having to run across the room. I was doing something (can't remember what) and I rolled my chair from one computer to the other. I grabbed the edge of the desk to pull myself back to the first computer and somehow the leg of my chair caught on something and I went over. Hard.
*I'll stop here for a moment so you can giggle.*
Had I not been holding on to the edge of the desk when I fell, I'm pretty sure I would have been badly hurt, but I ended up catching myself before my head hit the floor. The rest of me wasn't that lucky. Imagine, if you will, hearing a loud "THUMP" and walking into the room to see someone lying on the floor, one leg caught on the chair and the other flung over into a box of art supplies, one arm on a pile of books and the other hanging onto the edge of the desk for dear life. Then add in some whimpering, and that is what Steve saw when he ran into the room to see what the sound was. I'll give him credit, he did show concern and try to help me up before he laughed! :) I actually had to lay there for a few minutes to make sure I hadn't damaged anything important. I did manage to pull the muscles in my left arm catching myself on the desk and I hit my tailbone on the arm of the chair when everything hit the floor, but other than that, I nothing was damaged but my pride. Steve stopped laughing long enough to help me up and I limped around the house for a while. I eventually did lay down for a bit once the stuff I hurt caught up with me, but it wasn't so terrible. I did, however, end up flling asleep and not waking up in time to make a dinner date we had with our friends. :( Later that evening there was a wonderful thunder storm, so I got to fall asleep listening to the rain. Gotta love that!
Sunday when I woke up, I was more sore than I thought I'd be, but it still wasn't that bad. Our church picnic was that day, so I spent the morning at church running back and forth between cooking and doing my secretary stuff. The picnic was a big success. Not as many people showed up as we thought, but it was mainly because it had been raining earlier that morning, and I suppose not everyone thought a rainy picnic would be that fun. Fortunately the rain stopped and the day was cloudy, but otherwise lovely. I took a lot of pictures and played 4 games of vollyball! That is where I hurt myself the second time this weekend. I'm a decent vollyball player, but I don't get to play hat often. In fact, I haven't really done much of anything that active since school started. Since there were a few people batting the ball around, and the sides were uneven, I joined the side with not enough players and we started a game. It was really fun, but I ended up hitting the ground as much as I hit the ball. I like to throw myself into vollyball (plus, I'm clumsy). Out of the 4 games we played, my team won three of them! Playing helped to work out the kinks of my fall the day before, but it gave me a whole new set of kinks that I didn't realize I was going to have! I was so tired by the time we got home, I fell asleep for a little while and when I woke up I could barely move! That pretty much proved that I need to move around more! :P
Steve and I watched "Empire Strikes Back" (again) while we had dinner. Apparently Star Wars has new DVDs out that have the original versions of the movies on them. The whole "Han Shot First" thing and no Jabba the Hutt in the first movie and all of that. I was confused as to why Steve wanted the movies since he already has the original versions of the movies on VHS. When I asked him, I got a dissertation about how these are the original versions without the added scenes in, PLUS the fact that they are on DVD rather than VHS and yoda, yadda, yadda. I think I finally pieced it together in a way I can understand.
Seems to me that it's like having 3 pairs of the same shoes. One pair is the original pair you bought. Then you have a pair in the same color, but with a shiny gold buckle added on. THEN you get another pair, just like the first pair you owned, but newer and no scuff marks. I hope that's close, because after we talked about it for a while, I just got more confused.
I looked out of the window this morning and saw that the sky was overcast, throwing the world into a dim, shadowless, somewhat two dimensional vista. I like to think of this as "Super Villian" weather. I can picture someone standing on a roof in the strong wind, hair whipping around, looking over the world and trying to decide what the best way to take over the government would be.
Of course, then the rain started and all of that disappeared. Then it was just your normal, everyday, rainy weather. I had to run outside and get the dogs. They had spiky mullets when they came back inside. Butler really hates having a dog-mullet!
Not much has been going on here lately, just school and work. I've got to write yet another stupid research paper this semester. This one will be about the Boscoreale treasure. Yeah, I'd never heard of it either, but the teacher nixed the other two subjects I had pitched and took pity by pretty much assigning that topic to me. Heck, I'm not going to complain about that! At least now I have a direction to go. Of course, I will also have to sequester myself for most of the semester to get the dumb paper done. There is not much I dislike more than research papers for this teacher. The woman knows EVERYTHING, and doesn't let you BS too much. SIGH. Otherwise, I really like Ancient Roman art history so far. My graphics course has been interesting. Our next project is creating elements for an Annual Report for a public company. I'm going to be doing one for Starbucks. Unfortunately another girl in my class is also going to be doing Starbucks, so I hope she doesn't make me look too bad!
I officially R.S.V.P-ed to my 10 year class reunion yesterday. I wasn't going to go, but someone who will remain nameless (but her initials are SARA ULTZ) guilted me into going. She'd make a wonderful Jewish mother. I'm sure it will be fun. Yes. Yes it will. Got to keep saying that to myself.
Our air conditioning has been out on our floor for a week. We don't rate high enough in importantce to get it fixed right away, so we've had to leave the roof access doors open all day. The trouble with that is if it's humid, it's humid in our offices, it's only as cool as the outside temperature, and the main door to our entrance will periodically open and slam shut depending on the wind. Scares the life out of you if you think you're up here alone! : )
Oooh! Speaking of scaring the life out of you! The other day I was doing some sketches and I was listening to an audio book on my iPod. It was a story by Stephen King called "The Mist" and instead of being read straight from the book itself, it was acted out like one of those old radio shows. I've read the story a million times and always thought it was a little silly, but hearing it acted out made it really kind of scary! I was so intent on my sketches and listening to the story that when on of my co-workers walked in and knocked on my door, he scared the crap out of me. Now I can better understand the issue with "War of the Worlds!"
My tongue still hurts from Tuesday, by the way.
That is all.

OY!
Sorry to disgust you so terribly, but I have to tell you what I did this morning.
I was sitting at my desk eating a bagel and out of nowhere I chomped down on my tongue!
I didn't just bite it either, I took a chunk out of it! It hurt so bad that my whole face went numb for a few seconds before the pain came. Then like the genius I am, I thought that by taking a drink of my juice would help. It might have worked if I hadn't been drinking orange juice! Oh, yes, let's pour citric acid on the newly aquired hole in my tongue. Gosh almighty! I think I said curse words that haven't even been invented yet...loudly.
Then it started bleeding like no one's business. It bled all down the side of my face. I had to wrap a napkin around my tongue to keep myself from bleeding to death. I looked like that kid from "The Christmas Story" who stuck his tongue to the flag pole.
It finally stopped bleeding, but now it hurts like...well, it hurts alot.
That is all.

PRECIOUS MEMORIES
OK. Several months ago I told you about my friend who was in the band that I would go to see at the Coffee Tree. Every night that I was there, he would sing the song "Trashy Women" in my honor because of the line about the date for the senior prom.
Well, I finally have conclusive proof that I was NOT, in fact, a trashy woman, nor did I wear a Dolly Parton wig.
Behold! Oh, and try not to go blind from the cuteness!

Okay, now, let's ignore the fact that my date looked like Ritchie Cunningham and I could wrap my arm around him twice. He was the son of my FFA teacher. It was actually his senior prom because I was only 16 at the time. We had actually broken up a couple of weeks before this and he was dating someone else, but I had already bought my dress and he was too scared to tell me he wanted to take his new girlfriend. Could you blame him? I could have snapped him like a twig! ; )
First off, look how skinny I was! Of course, I thought I was a cow, but I think most 16 year old girls think that at some point in time. My dress was so uncomfortable. When we went out to dinner, I ordered ribs. Don't have a clue what I was thinking, but luckily I didn't get anything on me. :) I was ROCKING that sideways pony-tail thing, wasn't I? Although you can't see them, I had on silver shoes (OMG, silver shoes) and I thought I was the stuff. However, I am perfectly certain that I didn't look trashy at all. You can give me your opinion, though. :)
Anyway, I just thought I would share.

Elmer Fudd Ain't Got Nothing On Us!
Saturday night I was sitting in the living room reading when Steve opened the garage door and called for me. The way he sounded, I thought I was going to have to go kill a spider or something, so I steeled myself and walked into the garage.
When I asked what it was, he pointed behind the dog food container and said "Bunny!" Sure enough, there was this tiny, perfect, sweet little brown bunny hiding back there. As Steve and Josh sat outside, it had apparently hopped in and realized it was boned. There was no place for it to go once we spotted it. Since we like bunnies and didn't want it to die hiding from us, we had the bright idea to scare it out of the back door so that it could go on it's merry way while the dogs were inside sleeping. I grabbed the "Going Outside Stick" better known to everyone else as "the Broom" and slowly worked my way to the right of the bunny. My intentions were to put the broom in front of it so that it couldn't hop any further into the garage and get lost among the asteroid belt of junk we have in there. Unfortunately, little bunny Foo-foo saw me raise the broom and took off before I could put the broom down and ran into our shelves.
OK, so we have a bunny loose in the garage. Steve and Josh are near the garage door and I have now wedged my way behind an unused server rack so that I could stick the broom into the shelving to scare the bunny out from behind the boxes. So I gently stick the broom behind the shelf and shake it. No bunny emerges. I move a box and shake the broom again. Still, no bunny. All I could think of was that bunny dying in our garage and stinking up the place, so I went another rout and began beating on the shelf with the broom handle and yelling "RUN BUNNY! RUN AWAY!" This still got no bunny, but Steve and Josh got a kick out of it. :) So Steve gets the idea that we could open the big garage door and bring one of the dogs out on a leash. I mean, dogs hunt, right? They are supposed to sniff things out AND our dogs catch and eat rabbits all of the time! So I move away from the shelves as Steve brings Bear out on his lead. Of course, the only time we really have Bear on the lead is when we take him to the vet, so he's cowering and lying down and generally being a chicken-dog. Steve finally pulls the dog over to the shelves and Bear just sits on Steve's foot. I went back inside and shut the door because Bear kept trying to get inside, and Steve makes him start looking around. Well, we found out quick that Bear is NOT a hunting dog. So Bear comes back in and we get Butler on the lead. Butler is a Labrador Retriever...he's supposed to retrieve things! Butler immediately chokes himself with the lead and tries to get back inside. I have to close the door again and Steve closes the garage door and lets Butler loose. This didn't work either because Steve brought him right back inside and Butler looked ashamed. Apparently, Butler doesn't retrieve. So once the dogs are safely back in the kennels, Steve and Josh go back outside and I start hearing things move around. Then I hear Josh start to bang on the metal shelf again. They had to chase the bunny all around the perimeter of the garage before they set up an obstacle course that looked like a game of Mouse Trap. I don't know how long they were out there, but they never saw the bunny again. We are hoping that it somehow got out while Steve and Josh were playing Wylie coyote.
What I want to know is, how can a bunny the size of an egg cause so much trouble?
