Okay, so I fell down the stairs this morning. So that I don't have to retype everything again, here is an excerpt from an e-mail I sent this morning. Cut and Pasted, baby...

This morning I went outside to get food and water for the dogs. It had been raining pretty hard, so I dumped the water in the bucket on the already wet patio and went to walk back inside the garage. Apparently I stepped in the water I had just poured out and the bottom of my flip flops are worn down to a glassy smoothness (ergo, no tread) and I fell down the stairs! I know I must have looked ridiculous, with a bucket and my shoes all around me. It was the sheer grace of God that I didn't bust my head open on the shelf next to me, although I did end up with my head against it. I just sat there and cried, which made me feel even more silly. Well, I emerged from the event dirty and embarrassed for crying with nothing more than a twisted wrist. Next time I'll wear my sneakers. : )

: (

I don't believe that I'll be getting that job. I asked the HR lady if she had any news, and she said that the decision would be made tomorrow. Now, that may not sound negative to you, but that's because you don't work here. If they want someone for a position, they don't wait around this long. They would have contacted me sooner.

You know, I know I wanted it too much. Any time (and you can ask my family and husband) I look forward to something too much, I inevitably get screwed. Birthdays, proms, dates, vacations, and now jobs.

I was apparently just born under a bad sign.

Well, at least I already have a job in the call center. At least I'm not unemployed and getting checks from the state like before. I hate that.

Well, back to answering the phones.

"Snakes....why did it have to be snakes...."

Sorry, I was having an Indiana Jones moment.

Well, Mr. Lee got through surgery just fine yesterday. They found that he had a mass of some kind that looked kind of ugly, but it wasn't anything to worry about and they snapped up that and what they went in there for and now he's on the mend. He's got his morphine pump, so I'm sure that if he's in any pain, he really doesn't care! : ) Thanks for all the prayers! I'll be doing their yard work for him until he mends, so lets cross our finger that I don't run over anything important or run into his trees like I do at home. : )

I got another splinter! I have no idea where these are coming from, but I've been getting these little black splinters in my left hand over the past week, but I can't remember touching anything that would remotely give me a splinter. Also, I'm almost positive that I didn't have them when I went to bed. Darn splinter elves...

Steve bought me the book "Wicked" last night. It's a retelling about the Wizard of Oz, but from the point of view of the Wicked Witch of the West. It tells her origins and why she's so Wicked. It's pretty good so far, but kind of weird. I like the books by this author, someone Macguire. I read Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister which was a retelling of Cinderella from the point of view of one of the sisters. It was really good. I read it all in about 8 hours. I highly recommend it. I'm also excited to read the newest one "Mirror Mirror".

I know it's summer, but I'm excited to start looking for Christmas gifts! I try to have christmas shopping done by October or early November because I hate shopping at christmas time. People are mean and there is no goodwill towards men when you're holding the last Holiday barbie, and some soccermom is knocking you down to take it from your hands. I am the master of bargain shopping, too. My favorite thing to do is find name brand stuff for lesser prices at places like Marshalls and Ross and there are always things on websites that are on sale or special. I like to buy things people wouldn't normally get, so it's like a game for me and then everyone else get's great gifts! Woo-Hoo! I love shopping!

Anywho, I've still not heard about the job. I'm not taking this as a good sign, but until I hear one way or the other I'm not going to be satisfied. PRAY FOR ME!!!!!

Ciao

Anticipation....

Antisi-pay-ay-shun

is making me late

Is keeping me waiting

So okay, does anyone else wish they were in Key West right now? No? Just me? : ) I've only been there once, but I loved it! When I was on my senior class trip, which was a cruise, one of our stops was Key West. I didn't get to see nearly enough of it, so I'm going to definately have to go back someday.

Oooh, yeah. Please say a prayer for Mr. Lee. He's having surgery today and will have quite the recovery to make. I'm not sure when he goes in, but I know he'd appreciate a prayer at any time today.

I read a story that freaked me out. Now, for those of you who know me and my reading taste, you know I read masses of Stephen King and the like. Well, I bought a "Best of Mysteries as chosen by Alfred Hitchcock" book. The book is a compilation of short stories that go from supernatural stuff to actual who-done-its. Well, I started reading one called "Flowers In Her Hair." It was a story about a young woman who goes to visit and get to know some of her mother's family in the Appalachain mountains. She hates it there and wants to leave, but the cousin persuades her to visit an "Aunt" before she goes. The cousin is completely in awe of the aunt because she "Keeps the family records, and has second sight, too." The old lady invites them inside, and the cousin asks her to show the woman all of the "records" which turns out to be a weird genology of birth's and deaths. When the people in the family die, she cross stitches a sampler for them. She also has this beautiful embroidered wreath that is made from the hair of the people who have died. All the time they were together, the old lady kept talking about how beautiful the young woman's red hair was. She kept saying she never knew anyone in the family with red hair. Well, before the woman leaves, the aunt gives her something to drink, and she gets sick. The cousin runs out to get her husband and their truck so that they can carry her to the doctor. Once she gets home, though, she realizes that the aunt will take good care of her, so she decides to wait till morning to go and get her. When she arrives back at the Aunt's house, the old lady is sitting there embroidering on the wreath with the girl's red hair and told her that the woman had died and says "Didn't I tell you I saw death on her?" She tells her that in the middle of the night the girl walked outside and fell into a ravine. The cousin knows that the old lady won't cut the hair of anyone living, so she wonders how an old lady could have climbed down the ravine and cut the girl's hair and climbed back up again, but because she is in such awe of her Aunt, she knows she must have found a way. She never asks any questions and leaves it at that. I don't have any clue why that storie freaked me out so bad, but I have the heebs just thinking about it!

Anyways, more to come later...

Some people just make me want to attempt to cut my own head off. Seriously.

THINGS I'M TIRED OF ON MONDAY JUNE 21, 2004:

I am so tired of talking to people who get mad because of things I couldn't possibly have anything to do with. I am tired of people calling in, asking me questions, and then telling me I'm wrong.

I'm tired of northern accents and thick, southern, Steel Magnolia accents. I'm also tired of all the people who can't speak english that well, but insist on having long drawn out conversations with me. I have a better ear for accents than most people, but come on.

I'm tired of people calling in well past the deadline and then asking me if it's ok if they are late. Of people who ask me if a flight time is okay, but when I say it's not they start to whine and say that that is their only option. THEN WHY ASK????????!!!!!

I'm tired of people not knowing that Adventure Travel and Space Camp are two seperate businesses and then explaining their travel woes with me. I'm tired of not being able to hear one call and turning up my headset to as high as it will go, only to have the next call be so loud that my ears bleed.

I'm tired of people who make the same jokes I've heard three billion times and me having to laugh Every. Dang. Time.

Now, I'm tired of whining about what I'm tired of, so I'll stop now.

BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY BUSINESS, THAT'S WHY.

I have a problem putting my nose where it doesn't belong. I was telling my dad about that last night, and he told me it might be a test of my will when I'm presented with ways to be nosey. That's a scary thought. I've never thought of it that way. I mean, it's not like I go through people's purses or stuff like that, but sometimes I feel compelled to find things out. I wish I wasn't like that. I don't like feeling that way, being compelled to know. Maybe I should join the FBI to use my powers for good and not evil. : )

I need to go shopping. Yeah, right, you're thinking. I need to get some new blue jeans and another pair of khakis. I also need to buy a father's day gift for my dad. Anyone have any ideas?

OK, so I found out why I couldn't sleep last night. I had bought some kind of drink that I thought was like gatorade, but just a different brand. I decided to drink it after I ate dinner, and it tasted kind of gross, so I slammed it down so that I wouldn't waste it. During my not-so-sleepy spell last night, I did some internet research on it and found out that it is LOADED with caffine. Apparently it's some kind of energy drink that you are supposed to use before you do a workout. The package did not say that! So I was awake from about 1:10-4:30 last night. I look like I've been folded, spindled, and mutilated (and feel like it too!).

Eeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Work, bad. Sleep, good.

This is me awake at 2:19 am. I can NOT sleep. Well, I actually slept for a while, but then I woke up at about 1:10am and am now wide awake. This is crazy. I've read everything I can think of on the internet, and I'm afraid I'll have to resort to playing computer chess again before I can go back to sleep. It's frustrating.

I had my interview for the graphics job today with Sam. The interview seemed to go well even though there wasn't an awful lot to say. When I became the intern, he found out about my work history and what I did and didn't know. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I WANT this job so bad. Just from what he told me about it, it sounds like the perfect job for me. The main responsibility would be actually making the signs that are ordered, creating designs for them (unless they are from a template), some actual graphic design work when needed, and acting as support for the people in the department. I could work around my school schedule, and since it's not a customer service job, I could come in after hours and work without causing any problems or disrupting any schedules. I realize that it may not be in God's will for me to have it and knowing that is a struggle. Sometimes it's hard when you want something SO bad and you think that it's what SHOULD be going on in your life, when really it may be the worst thing to ever happen. At any rate, I hope it is God's will for me to have it, but if not I'll have to understand and deal with interning for the person who does get it. Just say a prayer for me.

Well, I can't think of anything else to write so early this morning, so I'm going to go fire up the iBook for a rousing game of chess. One of these days, I'm going to beat that dang computer! : )

Anybody other than me wish that Michael Moore would just find another country to live in? I'm all about having freedom of speech, but I'm pretty darn tired of hearing him complain about EVERYTHING. "Oh boo-hoo, I don't like the president, so I'm going to make an ass out of myself at the Oscars and then get mad because people didn't want to hear what I had to say." "Waaaaaaaah, my new movie about the president is getting an "R" rating, it's all about the right wing conservatives and their ability to censor free speech." "I don't care if anyone else likes what I have to say, I have the support of MOVIE STARS!" Oh please, if someone else doesn't kick this guy in his fat neck and shut him up, I may be forced to do it myself. What a peckerwood.
I have my interview for the graphics position today. This is such a great opportunity for me to learn. I have been praying about this since I knew it was opening and if it's God's will, I want the job. If it isn't, then I'm not interested. Say a prayer for me!
Last weekend we had our company picnic, and it was fun! I was there in the face-painting capacity, so I painted butterflies on most of the children there. After I was done with all the kids, some of the grown men came over and had their favorite sports team logo's painted on their faces. It was so funny. Even Steve got one. It's weird painting on faces with stubble! One of the things that was done at the picnic was door prizes, and I won 3 of them! I won tickets to the Chattanooga Aquarium, the Montgomery Zoo, and I also won the big prize of a gas grill and grilling tools! Woo-Hoo! Now I just have to learn how to grill and we'll be all set!
Oh yeah, before I forget, I'm an idiot. Yesterday I e-mailed the director of the graphics department (whom I intern for now, and would be working for if I got the job) and asked if it would be possible to get copies of the software we use. I even mentioned that I knew pirated software was illegal, but I didn't know if he had something I could install anyways. Well, of course he said no, and now I'm scared he will think I'm this big software theif and that I'm dishonest! I'm not! I don't know what I was thinking! Ugh.
You know, I've realized recently that I don't have a great deal to write about these days. No school drama, and very little else to talk about except cleaning and work. I hope you don't get bored reading about my summer life!

So, did anyone else boo-hoo while watching Nancy Regan say goodbye for the last time, or was it just me? You could tell how much she loved him, and that his dying broke her heart. IT was both so sweet, and so sad all at the same time. I hope we all have that kind of love in our lives.

Oh yeah, and right in the middle of all of this, like some weird Anamainiacs cameo was Scott Baio. I mean, huh?

I don't remember Regan as a president (other than the jelly bean thing) but he must've been a great man. Goodbye, Mr. Regan.

Wow, you really know how to make a day brighter.

Thank you so much! You have no idea how much it means to me.

One of the hardest things about my job is to sound like a professional. For those of you who know me well, you know that it's hard for me to be serious for long stretches of time. Today I was reading a message board when my phone rang. I wanted to finish the post I was reading, but I still had to answer the phone. I tapped the release button right as I read something that was so unexpected and vulgar that I almost burst out laughing into the phone. It was all I could do! It's to hard to be an adult sometimes, you know?

Yesterday I left work at 12:00 and got some things done around the house. I was going to use the weedeater (that ended up being broken) so I had to siphon the gas from the big lawnmower into the smaller push mower and brave the wilds of the grass growing in front of our house. I ended up running over a rose bush (oops) and spraying myself liberally with grass and bugs in the process. I wish our weedeater worked, because there is still tall grass close to the walls, but at least our house doesn't look like those cars that sit in the yards of rednecks all hidden by grass with trees coming through them.

Speaking of trees. I went to a park yesterday to take a walk and I noticed that there was an abundance of Mimosa trees in bloom. I love those kinds of trees and Steve said he wanted one, so I found a teeny one growing near the path and pulled it up, roots and all. When I got to the end of the path, I saw a sign that said not to molest or remove any animals or plants, but I already pulled the tree up! It's now at home in it's own little happy pot just waiting to be set into the yard. I'm passionate about bringing plants from other places and putting them somewhere on our property, but I think from now on, I'll get them without breaking a rule.

I also baked a cake, painted my toenails, and washed dishes. I am very industrious when I have the time :).

Wow, we've been busy at work! For the past couple of days, we've been slammed with calls. It's almost like back in December when we were running a promotion!

Last weekend I had a great time. My friend Sara came up from Birmingham and we hung out on Saturday. I've forgotten how nice it is to have a girl to go shopping with. Later that night, Anthony came over and we all had a cook out with Steve's new Uber-Grill. We were all so tired that Sara fell asleep on our chair. I feel bad that I didn't get a chance to clean out the guest room, so I now have a project for this week. I'll try to keep it nice in case anyone else wants to come over and sleep! : )

Sunday was so busy! With church, going to my parent's house, and helping the serving comittee set up the kithen, I was exhausted by the end of the day. Steve had to take Butler to the emergency vet because he was limping really bad and we didn't think the regular vet would be open on memorial day. Well, Steve took him and he was gone so long that I decided to go to bed. I was in a DEEP sleep when the phone rang. It was Steve telling me he forgot his checkbook, so I'd need to bring it out there. I was not awake, and still in my pajamas.I got in the car and drove halfway there before I actually woke up. That was scary! When I got there, Butler was all spread out on the floor asleep because they had given him a shot to help his leg (he's sprained it). Steve had to drag that big lump of dog out the door because he was unconsious. I'd never seen anything like that before. When we got him home, he got on his feet and sort of wobbled to his kennel and crawled as deep into it as he could, still wearing the choke coller. Steve had to get in there and take it off of him so he wouldn't choke to death. Poor Schnuffer! Of course, after that we had tornadoes. I fell asleep during the warning. By that time I was so tired, I wouldn't have cared if I woke up in Oz itself.

I'm supposed to be off of work at noon today, and I'm GLAD!!! Let's hope no one has a crisis that keeps me from leaving!

I think I'm going to bake a cake today! Martha Stewart Beware!

WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE...

Star Trek guy called again this morning. He hasn't called in a while, so I thought that he had forgotten about us. No such luck. He is calling and asking for me, because he thinks I'm his NASA contact. I'm glad the girls here are taking messages instead of just forwarding him on. Anyway, he finally called and I answered. He was so glad to hear from me because he had to tell me all about this new planet he discovered in the Alpha quadrant called Sector 031. Apparently they are in trouble because there is global warming, they are getting poisoned by Carbon Monoxide, the rain forests are being depleted, and the California of Sector 031 is going to sink into the ocean because there are too many people on the highways and overpasses. Oh yeah, and their San Andreas fault line is seperating at the rate of 3 inches a year. He says that planet only has about 15 years before it's destroyed. If you are a native Sector 031-ian, BEWARE! He also let me know he's been to the planet Russia, and has found out that he is full blooded Russian (he can also speak Russian and German, too). He told me that he's spoken to the Navy, and they have asked him to complete his mission. Whatever mission that is, I have no idea. Oh yeah, and he WAS Gus Grissom in the Apollo 8 Mission* where they crash landed on Neptune (*nerd note: Grissom died in the Apollo 1 capsule on the launch pad). Apparently he's been reincarnated several times, because when I asked who else he was, he just said "a bunch of folks".

SIGH.

Monday, May 24, 2004

Eeeeeeessshhh. The weekend isn't anywhere near long enough. Does anyone else notice this? Short as it was, it was still a nice weekend all around.

Friday night Steve, Anthony, and I went out for dinner to Greenhills Grille (mmmmmmmmmmmm) where I haven't been in ages. They have the best biscuits in the world, I think. I honestly can't remember what else we did that day. No more crack for me!

Saturday I had to work in the morning, but Steve and I got to have dinner together at DreamLand, where I saw my friend Beth and met her fiance. She's getting married in October, I think. THen I went shopping and bought a very cute shirt and skirt, which when I got home didn't look right together. Now I need to find another shirt to wear with the skirt. : ) I also bought the book "Petals on the Wind" which is a sequal to "Flowers in the Attic". Geeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzz, it's twisted! Steve and I also went to see Shrek 2 and it was so funny. I liked Puss in Boots the best, but I think it's because he reminded me of Shannon and I when we use our Latina voices. The dance scene had me rolling in the floor, but I think it had more to do with Donkey and Puss in Boots singing "La Vida Loca" than because it was actually funny.

Sunday we didn't do anything but go to my parents house for lunch and have dinner with Josh. He conned me into seeing something called "Son of Paleface", which is a Bob Hope movie set in the wild west. It was actually funny! I don't usually like Westerns or old movies like that, but it was very good. Steve got me the DVD of Ghost in the Abyss, which is the James Cameron documentary of the Titanic. I can't wait to watch it! Woo-Hoo!

Since my weekend was so pleasant, wouldn't just make sense that today, Monday, sucked? I'm beginning to think that I'm like Garfield, and everytime Mondays come around I get smacked in the face with a pie or mailed to Abu Dabi. Mondays Suck!!!!!!

And with that, I leave you for now!

It's taken me three days to publish this blog!

SUCH A BEACH BUM...

So, I'm back from my trip to Panama City, and I had a wonderful time! My mom and sister, and I left about 5:30 saturday morning and got to the condo around noon. We almost didn't get to stay in my Aunt's condo because the girl behind the counter told us that no one had called and put my mom's name on the register (which my aunt had). We had all of the paperwork, but no one had put the note in the computer. However, the counter girl figured that if we had all of the information on hand AND knew thw names of the people the condo belonged to, she would let us go ahead and stay. Wasn't that mighty high class of her? Anyways, we went to Shuckum's for lunch and came back to lay on the beach. I don't think I've laughed that much in ages! I forgot how funny mom and Angie can be. I swear, the whole time we were there we did nothing but talk, lay on the beach, eat, and we went shopping a couple of times. It was heaven. After school and work being so busy, a trip to do nothing was paradise. I wish I could have stayed until friday, but I would have been by myself and I would have never found my way home! : ) I got sunburned all around the edges, even with putting sunscreen on, but it's starting to fade to a tan now. I promise, I was a pair of pink eyes away from being albino before I went there, now I look a little less like a vampire, but my chest is still burnt a little. It's weird to look at myself and have color! The only drawback there is that my nose is peeling! I'm crispy around the edges.
Oh! In newer news, I got an internship in the graphics/web department here at the SpRocket Center, and so far I like it. Of course, I haven't been asked to do anything that could destroy stuff, so I suppose I've done fine so far. I'm only getting about 8 hours a week, but that seems to be fine for now. I'm working on a Mac for the first time in ages, so that takes a little getting used to, but I think I'll like it! Hopefully I'll learn some "mad skills" heeheehee, and everyone will want me to work for them. The guy I'm working with today, Jason, is completely awesome and talented. Maybe some of that will rub off.
I'm so hungry. Yesterday Steve and I went to Casa Blanca and had some exellent mexican food and I've been thinking about it all day!! I had to eat lunch early this morning so that I could get to the graphics department on time, and I could eat a dead horse right now! I probably could have stopped and had lunch, but I don't want to miss anything while I'm here, so I'll just be hungry I guess.
I have to go to the doctor next week and I don't want to! I at least hope I can talk him into giving me a new perscription for the pills I had. *Fingers Crossed*
Well, I know this hasn't been extremely exciting, but hey, you read this to know what I'm doing and this is it! Woo-Hoo!
Until next time.

I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow morning (if nothing happens that is)and I'm so excited! It will be my mom, my sister, and I. I'm hoping it will be a lot of fun.

I haven't had much to write about recently, which sucks. It's been pretty bland what with me only working and not much else.

I did get an awesome coloring book today (don't laugh). It's a book of modern art, but with no color. Sort of like Paint by numbers, but no numbers. My art history teacher would be so proud. Amazingly enough, I haven't used a coloring book in forever. That's what being an art major will do to you.

Speaking of school, I got my grades. I can't believe I made a B+ in my drawing class and an A- in history. That is so backwards. In the fall I'm going to need constant prayers to pull that semester off. My brains will be boiling! Wow, I want to graduate!

GOOD MEMORY

A couple of years ago, Josh (being a wonderful guy friend who will do this) went grocery shopping with me. This, of course, was when I worked at CST and got paid much more than I do now and could afford the bi-weekly grocery shopping where we could actually buy lots of groceries at a time. We were supposed to meet Steve back at home and then go to dinner together. Well, Josh and I got done shopping earlier than we thought and when we got back to meet Steve, I realized that I had forgotten my house key. So here we were, sitting in the driveway with a car full of groceries (meat, milk, and other things that should have been refrigerated right away). We knew that being in the trunk would be cool enough to keep some things for a little while, but we had a whole box of Dove ice cream bars that were not getting any colder. We had to wait for Steve and eat the entire box of ice cream before it melted. That memory makes me happy. : )

SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER

Wheeeeeee! I'm so glad to be out of school for the summer. I mean, yes, I still have to work every day, but at least I don't have to run out in the middle of the day and struggle to stay awake in class! Now I just have to struggle to stay awake at work!

Last night we had a great time. Shannon and Josh came over for dinner (I made pot roast...and it was rather tasty if I do say so) and we watched a movie called "Malabu's Most Wanted". I was afraid it would be a stupid movie, but it was actually funny! Steve came home from his final and brought Anthony, so we had a good time joking around. By the way....J Q, Huntsville High Represent! : ) I am so un-ghetto.

I have some fabulous news. I am going to Florida with my mom and sister in a couple of weeks! We haven't done anything like this in 12 years, or at least since my cousin Janice got married in Daytona. I hope we have a good time. I will not wear a bathing suit, because I don't want anyone from GreenPeace to think I'm a beached whale! : )

The last episode of Friends will be on tonight, and I can't wait to see it. It is one of the five shows I make an effort to watch, so it better end well or I'm going to be mad! You know, the funny thing is that I didn't care anything about the show until I met Steve, and after watching some taped episodes I fell in love with it. I'll miss it. Well, as long as CSI, Scrubs, Dead Like Me, and Carnivale still come on, I'll be okay.

I'm so tired...so, so, so, so, so tired. I took Benedryl last night, and it will not wear off. I only took 2 of them and they seem too small to do anything. I feel like I've been walking through syrup all day.

Call me Dr. Feelgood! I've been wearing my lab coat as a jacket for the past few days because the only coat I have is the velvet one, and it's too heavy for just being chilly. Why do I have a lab coat, you may ask? I bought it on a trip to the college bookstore when we were working with plaster so I could wear it over my work clothes. I like wearing it because it's long, and I'm thinking I'd make a darn fine looking doctor! : ) Let me know if any of you need a physical! : ) I need to post a photo!

Ciao.
